As opposed to the other night’s overnight skunk!
One thing I love about my career is I can plan my weeks however I want. Rather than taking a weekend day completely off, I worked most of the day writing – into the evening. It feels so good to start Monday with a to-do list that shrunk overnight! [The word shrunk reminds me of shrinky dinks! Remember those?]
By request, the 2011 highlights have been updated on my Favorite Posts page! My, what a fun + exciting year it was.
AND, years procrastinated, an All About Groceries post! I hope this won’t be disappointing. The reason I have been reluctant to write one is because I’m really not much of a meal planner! But hopefully the structure in which we [don’t] plan and shop and a list of staples will be of use to some of you : ) Find it on the sidebar on on the “Behind The Blog” page.
While I was on a roll last night, I also decided to make this morning’s breakfast!
Overnight oats with banana and strawberries, topped with the last of my Cville Cluster and globs of freshly opened TJ’s sunflower butter (it’s runniest when it’s first opened even though I did my best to give it a great stir!)
Sugar Caramel Oolong tea on this chilly, cloudy morning! I put on a fleece and sweatpants after finding myself freezing in my tank and shorts and now I’m hot!
Have a great Monday!

Can’t wait to check out your groceries post! I always find it so interesting seeing what other people buy at the grocery store. 🙂
Your oats look so good! I love the addition of strawberries and bananas.

Runny sunflower seed butter just means the good chunky stuff is waiting for you at the bottom!
Caroline @ After Dinner Dance says
You’re so lucky you have a flexible schedule. I’m interested to see the groceries post!
Molly @ RDexposed says
My work’s flexibility is sometimes the ability to go in either at 8:00 or 8:30. I’ll take it?

Ha! When somebody asks me what my hours are, my response is “8ish to 5ish”.

I’m excited to read your all about groceries post! I’m not a meal planner either, so I think seeing what you buy to be able to throw together those amazing dinners will be helpful!

Hello there Ms Productivity!!! 🙂 Nice work on all the blog updates Kath! I hope you have some time to relax today – sugar caramel tea sounds like a perfect way to start. 🙂

Oh my gosh I was SO OBSESSED with shrinky dinks as a kid!! And so funny that you posted this because I was just in Target and noticed them in the toy section and freaked out!! I may or may not have bought some just to play with 🙂
mary @ minutespermile says
“shrunk” reminds me of Honey I Shrunk the Kids. Great film!! Thanks for the groceries page. Sure it will be helpful and pretty!

Hahah – great movie!!

I am not a meal planner too, we usually by the protein, the vegetables, sauces etc and cook with what we have on hand, this really makes more creative in the kitchen 🙂

looking forward to checking out your grocery post! enjoy the week, kath!

Shrinky dinks were the best! I always had smurf ones. Good times…

You truly are the “queen of breakfast-making”, if I may say so. Every single one of your breakfasts looks DELICIOUS. Not that your other meals don’t look good! Have a great week 🙂

I had overnight oats with banana and strawberry as well this morning! Only I added peanut butter instead of sunflower seed butter.

You really are lucky to be working for yourself 🙂 I am sure it can be lonely, but the perks are worth it!

Yeah!! So excited about your grocery post 🙂 I will study it, as I think it is amazing how you come up with all these healthy meals in a matter of minutes. Thanks for doing the post, for our benefit! It will be a huge help, and I’m forwarding this to my sister, I think she will love it too.

Hi Kath,
I just wanted to stop by to say thank you for inspiring my PB oatmeal and OOIAJ obsession – my boyfriend loves them too! I started reading your blog from the beginning this weekend and it is so amazing how it has evolved. Congrats on your pregnancy, so exciting!!
KathEats says
So glad
Averie @ Averie Cooks says
You always amaze me with all your side bars, post organization and little widget-ey things and links and buttons. It all takes time to do..and for me, way more time than probably it does for you because I am not so speedy with that kind of stuff. Lol
janet says
Does your list differ in the summer? We try to shop at local vendors whenever they are open – eliminating the grocery trip for (most) fruit/veg/meat/bread.
KathEats says
Yeah in the summer I shop at the market for produce, eggs and meat and go to wf about every other week for things like yogurt and cheese. I always spend more money at the market, but I hopefully balance that with produce from my garden!
janet says
*I didn’t word that well, not that your “list” would change, but your shopping trip(s). Or do you use WF year-round is what I am trying to ask =)
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
That bowl of oatmeal looks wicked good! Happy Monday Kath!
Andrea @FrSeed2Stomach says

Thanks so much Eliza!
Annette @FitnessPerks says
I’m like that too–always have staples, and decide from there–so no stuff goes to waste. It works for us! 🙂
The oats look awesome.
Tiff @ Love Sweat and Beers says
Wow, you really were on a roll last night. 🙂 BTW, I have that same Highland Brewing sticker.
Katie @ Happy Figs says
It’s so nice to work from home! I work for a lifestyle company as a graphic designer and when I had my first baby 6 years ago they let me start working full time from home! Turns out its cheaper for them because they don’t need to have office space for me! Win Win I say. I had been working for them for 5 years previous to getting pregnant and was an integrated part of their team already so I feel so damned lucky to have this job with them.
Now I can do the same as you, sometimes I take a weekday off or two and make up for it on a saturday, and working from home also means when I’m not busy I don’t have to just sit around an office bored. I can just get up and do something productive in my house….. or start my own sewing business on the side… hahaha…. is that sneaky?
Fran@ Broken Cookies Don't Count says
You were busy, busy! It feels good to get things of the list!

Sunflower butter can be runny, but I like it a little runny.
