We had a great day over here!
Starting with this breakfast that I will be telling you all about in an upcoming post!! It was smashing : )
Mazen had a great time at summer camp. He is LOVING it!! He gave me a painting tutorial at pickup.
I walked to the school and back 2x for my workout today (~4 miles) and we came home and had a cool lunch.
Salad greens from the garden plus peppers and carrots, lots of herbs, yogurt-olive oil-Dijon dressing, and a roll with PB and Key Lime Curd.
We spent the afternoon around the house – more painting, some couch time. My best attempt to capture the moment. Someone is getting a little camera shy:
We went to the gym for a short while this afternoon (M hasn’t been all week and was begging to go!) and I went up on the roof to meet friends. Two of those friends have out of town husbands, and since mine had a social obligations tonight, I decided to join them for dinner at the new Chipotle on Pantops.
I think this was only my second or third visit to a Chipotle? I know some people are obsessed but I’m not sure I get all the hype : ) It was good, and I totally appreciate the company’s principles, but I left a little underwhelmed. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing!? Chicken burrito salad bowl – the sour cream was the best part! And the spicy red salsa.
This song has been on repeat ALL day long on Spotify, and just before bedtime, Mazen yelled out with his hands in the air: “What are you waiting fooooooooorrrr!” He was listening : )
Nite.
Cece says
Um, I think you ordered the wrong thing. Chipotle is AWESOME.
KathEats says
Haha! It was good. Maybe I just need to go more : )
Shannah says
Honestly, the only thing I get there is the vegetarian bowl. All the guac and all the salsas!!! So good!
Aimee says
Their chicken is not the best to me, and it’s diced up too small. I usually get the pork. It’s juicier. I love the rice.
Jordasche Kingston says
Everything above looks fantastic, but I’m especially excited to try that banana dish – it looks so classy and delicious!
Vanessa says
Try the sofritos next time! It’s delish!
Danielle says
I find it so funny how the last day of school is so different for every state. We are still going strong here in NJ (until the 22 in my school). Wishing for summer camp!
Elyse says
Chipotle is awesome!!! It’s always awesome. I’ve never had a bad thing there!
Erin @ Her Heartland Soul says
That breakfast looks amazing! I can’t wait for the recipe. And yeah, I’m seconding you needing to give Chipotle another chance. It’s the bomb dot com! 😀
Linda @ TheFitty says
Haha, someone’s a fan of ellie golding!
Nicole says
Oh man. I love chipotle! I always get the veggie burrito bowl with everything on it. And I mean everything, grilled veggies, all the salsas, etc. The closest one is 20 mins from me, but my husband just informed me last week that they are building one right in our town! I may be in trouble here…
Casey @ Casey the College Celiac says
I am a strong LOVER of Chipotle, though that is partly because, as a celiac who can’t eat any gluten or be cross contaminated, it is a rare place I can always order safely! My go-to order is a burrito bowl – it has the most bang for buck, and I often just add veggies and extra lettuce from home! I love getting brown rice, black beans, chicken, lettuce, mild salsa and guac!
Angelica says
Not sure about whatever sauce you have spread over your salad (sour cream?). The chicken is SO GOOD especially with guac and spicy salsa. Get the white rice & black beans, too. Their chips are also delicious!
KathEats says
It’s sour cream! I did think the chicken was pretty good
Lorin says
I think it’s overrated as well. However, I live in San Diego so I get legit mexican food. Although, Chipotle doesn’t try to be authentic, more of a ‘healthy, americanized’ version of mexican food. It can be a nice, cheapish option in a pinch though.
Alex @ get big, go to work says
That banana breakfast looks SO good. Can’t wait for you to share it.
Amanda says
I always feel completley underwhelmed by Chipotle also. I just don’t get it. We have a hothead burritos around here (same concept) and I just LOVE that!
Christine says
You need to try the Chipolte chips and guac!
I thought you were doing a post on podcasts this afternoon?
KathEats says
Sorry I had to postpone it..coming soon!
Alissa says
I love Chipotle but the salsas and guac are very oniony, even for me! If you avoid them your options there are limited. But it’s a quick and healthy choice for us when we don’t have time to cook.
KathEats says
Good to know. I am probably missing out
Tonya says
I don’t find much to complain about on this blog but I will NOT stand for Chipotle-blasphemy! You march right back there and order a burrito bowl this go round, missy! LOL
KathEats says
Hahaha!
Elizabeth Beil says
So cute what Mazen says about the song! I feel like that is how I sound when I sing along as well ;).
Bri Anderson says
What is Key Lime Curd? I have never heard of it but it sounds amazing!
KathEats says
We’re selling it at the bakery…it’s like lemon curd but key lime! So good.
Emily @ Life on Food says
You need the gauc at Chipotle!!
Ashley @ Saving Money in your Twenties says
MMM love chipotle! I always get the burrito bowls, not the salads. Try that next time!! 🙂
Tracy says
I know you can relate to this…my reason for not loving Chipotle is that they use so many ONIONS! The pico, salsas, veg and guac. So many little chopped red onions to pick out! Haha
KathEats says
Haha – yeah I didn’t have the guac (they were actually out!) or any of the other salsas.
Christine says
You have to order carnitas!!! MMmmm!!! Nothing as good as carnitas. 🙂 I love the salad bowl with carnitas, black beans, white rice, mild salsa (lots of cilantro!), cheese, and sour cream – sometimes guacamole. So good!!
KathEats says
I actually tried but they were OUT! I think because they store was new and it was a busy week.
Lori says
You probably didn’t care for Chipotle because you eat the most amazing looking food all the time! Cville clearly knows what it’s doing! I’m a bit of a food snob. Chipotle is good, but kind of basic. It’s def about the guac, if you like their style (which I imagine you would not. I love it any and every way!). Anyway, living in Phoenix, with so much great Mexican food, Chipotle is a great healthy option, but it’s not amazing, in my opinion. (I will say, though, that the sofritos (tofu) is a delicious, unique tofu option, if your location carries it).
Jeanie says
First off, that picture Mazen painted is suitable for framing. I’m dead serious! My daughter’s living room is in shades of blue and pink, with a touch of purple. It would be perfect in there. I don’t go to Chipolte often, but I always order the burrito bowl with chicken when I do go. I vary the beans between black and pinto and add a little corn.
Amanda Cowan says
I agree with all those who suggested going vegetarian there. That is the only time I fully appreciate it! Their meat is just too spicy for me, except for the carnitas, which can make for a calorie heavy meal. So veggie is the way to go. If you try it, ask for extra veggies. I skip the cheese though because I can’t typically taste it over the veggies/beans, etc. but the sour cream rocks my world. Love it.
masala girl says
i was the same way about chipotle! now i like it, but only if i’m in the mood. what keeps me coming back though is their black beans! I LOVE their black beans! tell my dad to get an extra side whenever he goes 🙂 theyre easy to make at home (with less sodium!!), but still good there 🙂
