It’s Friday night, which means we headed downtown for some fun + friends.
We met up with a bunch of the ladies in my mother’s group plus our usual Friday buddies:
Rob + Seamane can’t wait till we can all toast a homebrew to the babe’s arrival!
Matt and I piddled around for a while before we went downtown. That lunch was super filling and I wasn’t hungry at all all afternoon. We decided rather than cook something before going out we’d just play dinner by ear and maybe grab something light.
Downtown was PACKED with people dressed in orange to celebrate UVAs first home game tomorrow!
We got hungry rather quickly around 8pm and nothing fast sounded that appetizing. So we found ourselves at Petit Pois and had an excellent meal with a great view of the pep rally parade! We sure have gone out to eat a lot lately, but gotta make hay while the sun shines!
Paint The Town Orange…
After the entertainment, we devoured bread coated in sweet butter
We split an appetizer and entrée – the Grilled Shrimp with Tomatoes, White Beans + Arugula to start. They were kind to split it for us in two bowls!
And for our entrée, we had the Gnocchi with Shitakes and Peas. This was delicious!!!!!!!!
I’m not quite sure how many miles I walked today, but downtown and back x2 plus the park has my legs begging for elevation and a foot massage. It’s a bit hard to elevate your feet if you can’t lie on your back, but that foot massage should be pretty easy to muster out of the mister!

I was walking around on the mall earlier and must have missed that parade by just a few minutes. The crown on the mall was crazy to me as this is the first football game in Charlottesville since I moved here last winter.

KathEats says
🙂 I’m wondering if I should be sleeping on towels by now
Allie@LiveLaughEat says
Babyyyyyy? Where are you?! Can’t believe football season is starting already!
Nancy says
loved the video of the marching band – I was in the band all 4 years of college – nothing like a college football game with a great marching band
Heather says
You look absolutely stunning !! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pregnant woman look so happy on her due date 🙂 Maybe Baby KERF is just being shy since there are soooo many of us anticipating his arrival !!
j3nn says
I’ve got to hand it to you, you’re really brave being out and about, painting the town and all on your due date! OMG. I think I’d be afraid to leave the house, lol!
That gnocchi looks divine. Yum!
Carin says
Just wondering whether “piddling around” is a polite way of saying… another activity which allegedly brings on the baby?! 😉
Looks like you had a great night out. Glad you’re having fun before the “berf”!
KathEats says
Haha… Nothing indecent! Just procrastinating around the house.
Christine says
I know you are probably ready to have that baby, but I am so going to miss seeing you pregnant! You just look so great pregnant. Healthy and glowing.
kim@hungryhealthygirl says
The grilled shrimp soup looks delicious! I think the foot massage is very well deserved….maybe a baby announcement tomorrow???
Averie @ Averie Cooks says
Foot massages are THE BEST! Tell Matt he owes you the worlds longest foot rub on the eve of your due date! 🙂
Ali @ Peaches and Football says
Well they say walking is a great way to help get labor going so I think you can safely say you’re doing all you can do.
and you’ll be back to toasting beer before you know it!
Lynn @ the actor's diet says
I love pink stripes!!!
Ashley says
I can’t be the only person who keeps checking back to your blog this evening (and the past couple days) to see if the big moment has arrived…. 🙂
Positive thoughts coming your way from Seattle!! 🙂
Sandy says
I’m guessing that we will see you out and about and walking baby boy downtown on Friday night in two weeks again. Having a baby isn’t going to slow you down or keep you at home.
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
Haha I hope you got a great foot massage after that long day!
Sarah (The Simple Dietitian) says
You look so great!! And it will be any day now, Kath, when you’ll be saying hello to the newest KERF member! 😀
Mom says
I bought the baby some more books last night, including one titled Babies Everywhere. That’s a hint to him that he needs to get himself born so he can join them.
Emily Butler says
Oh I could totally recreate that shrimp dish, looks amazing! The full moon brought on my labor, bouncing on a ball helped too!
Jenica says
I live in a college town, too. It’s always so strange and exciting this time of year when the undergraduates come back and the entire feeling on the campus just changes. Looks like it was fun in c-ville!
Angel7 says
That food looks so appetizing, even this early in the morning! I have an appetite right now for something yummy, & it does not have to be a breakfast-like meal.

Fortunately I decide to lace a towel under me on the bed that night. The idea was to protect my memory foam mattress, but ward off labor demons. I was so tired after work, I didn’t want to go into labor. The towel wasn’t effective for the latter reason.
Brooke @ Pretty In Protein says
Your photos always make me want to visit cville! It looks so cozy and welcoming
Kiki says
oh, I really need to get to Petit Pois soon! Went to Rapture for brunch yesterday. The food was amazing! Who knew…brunch at Rapture? Service was not great – made me miss NYC for a minute. Only a minute.
KathEats says
I walked by Rapture during brunch – so many people there!
