Reunited with Sarah! She helped introduce us to Cville last year when we moved and then moved away herself. She’s back for a wedding and came into to the bakery for a little “ooohing” and “ahhhing.” She loved the granola and Naturally Nutty Cinnamon Vanilla Sunflower Butter!
I finally broke for lunch after lots of Quickbooks and lots of bread serving!
Pesto, hummus, lettuce, cucumber, green pepper, and olives on an open-faced High Five!
Pikal.
Stone fruit fun!
And a sparkling water. I feel bad stealing one from myself everyday. We need a keg of sparkles here in the bakery!!
Going to have one bite of something sweet to finish out lunch – then back to work!!
Jenny @ Fitness Health and Food says
mmm what a lovely veggie full sandwich! It reminds me that I need to get some pickles this weekend, the warmer weather makes me crave them!
kate says
Ooh that sandwich looks so good ill have to head over to my great harvest and get a sandwich soon and that pickle, yum!
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
Awwwwh… I love Sarah!
Holly @ The Runny Egg says
Those olives look delicious!
Have a great day!
Sabina says
Kath, I’m curious: are you taking into account the beverages and food that you (and other staff) eat while on the job? When I worked at a pseudo-restaurant, my employer deducted $0.20/hour worked and then we were permitted to consume up to ~$12/day of the pseudo-restaurant’s food. When we wanted food, it was rung in at the cash register so it could be taken into account in the books.
KathEats says
Yes, we’re counting them
Claire says
It’s not “stealing” – it’s “taking it out of stock!”
Katherina @ Zephyr Runs says
Get a soda stream! We have one at my cafe and it’s lovely 🙂 Actually it’s not that product it’s just sparkling water on tap.
Melissa @ HerGreenLife says
I know you’re pretty environmentally conscious. Having some alternative to pre-bottled sparkles would certainly be a great step to take!
KathEats says
You are correct – it is a waste. But we do recycle.
Katie @ Nourishing Flourishing says
That sandwich looks too legit too quit. So great to see things going well for the bakery! 🙂
Jenn says
Naturally Nutty Cinnamon Vanilla Sunflower Butter–You sell this at your store, right? I assume you buy from a vendor, but do they sell this at regular stores? Do you do Open Sky deals on that? I’ve never done the Open Sky and am curious as to how it works.
Thanks! Everything always looks so good! Makes my want to road trip!
KathEats says
Yes, we sell it. I don’t have it in OpenSky, although I did once. I do have an upcoming sale on Justin’s Nut BUtters on Monday! You just need to sign up for my newsletter and you’ll get all the details by email
Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg says
I love her outfit!
Krissy @ Shiawase Life says
I was going to say the same thing! =D
Kate (What Kate is Cooking) says
Haha, me too 🙂
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
I always felt that way too about taking things from our business when we had one. But, it’s cheaper to take it from yourselves at the prices you pay then to buy it elsewhere!
Keelie says
That sunflower butter sounds ridiculous! Please tell me how I can get some! 🙂
And I’d like to steal a bite of your sandwich.
That is all! 🙂
jenny says
Kath- Can you take us on a video tour of the bakery?
Angie @ Musings of a Violet Monkey says
Oooh, I second that request! 🙂
~
KathEats says
YES! I have my camera with me – just haven’t had time to do it!
Chloe (South Beach Girl) says
It’s so great that you guys are so busy! I’m sure once things get into a routine you’ll also be able to have time to eat, but for now this is super exciting 🙂
Also – major kudos to you for keeping up with your healthy eating during this busy time. I always seem to get overwhelmed and make poor choices but am inspired by you and know that if I can work hard enough at it that it will become second nature to me.
Laura Jane @ Recovering Chocoholic says
I second the kudos for keeping up the healthy eating and exercise. You are so busy and would have every legitimate excuse to relax the eating, but you still keep up the healthy choices. I love that.
sarah says
Enjoy your sweet. You deserve it. And get yourself a Sodastream for the bakery. You deserve that, too. We love ours.
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
I had my first peach of the season last week and it wasn’t super juicy, but I still enjoyed it! Have a fabulous afternoon!

So jealous she knows you!
Susan (Oliepants) says
I love love hummus sandwiches. Especially with pickles!
J3nn(Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) says
The sandwich looks yummy but needs another piece of bread! I find open faced sandwiches awkward to eat, lol. I know they’re your fav, though!
Emily @ Savory and Savage says
No sandwich is complete without a pickle 😉
Don’t work too hard!
Cait's Plate says
Having one bite of something sweet before getting back to work is my personal motto – makes the rest of the day so much more enjoyable 🙂
Cait @ Beyond Bananas says
I love open faced sandwiches. But. I will still have two pieces of bread 😉 just twice thetoppings.. and twice the amount of time to eat it!
Hope says
What a delicious looking sandwich! That bread looks amazing! 🙂
Justeen @ Blissful Baking says
I love open-faced sandwiches! I’m thinking of visiting my local GH today to restock on bread – our loaf of Dakota is almost gone! I hope they’re selling high five today 🙂
Melissa @ Journey to Marvelous says
Stealing from yourself is acceptable. 🙂 Looks like a great lunch!
Angie @ Musings of a Violet Monkey says
I’m going to chime in and recommend the SodaStream, as well. I love mine!
The *only* complaint (teeny-tiny) I have about it is that the bottles cannot be washed in the dishwasher. I understand why, and am fine washing them by hand. (But otherwise I’m a ‘throw everything into the dishwasher kind of gal!’). 🙂

Jessica @ The Process of Healing says
You are SO lucky to have all of that wonderful food at your disposal!

Ellie@fitforthesoul says
It must feel so goood to be reunited with a friend from long ago. Haha, I’d feel bad from stealing from myself too 😛
Kelly @foodiefresh says
I would have a hard time not “stealing from myself” if I were you. 😉
Kristen @ Change of Pace says
I have been meaning to get pickles at the store. I’m a little bit of a pickle snob though… I like the good stuff!

Pesto and hummus together sounds heavenly!

If those are calamata olives… They are my favorite kind of olives! Even if they are not calamata olives, I am sure that I would still like them, because I like almost any kind of olive.

Mmm love stone fruits and sparkling water all the time, but especially in the summer 🙂
lynn @ the actor's diet says
so happy for stone fruits again!
Melissa says
Reading about your sandwich, I thought to myself “that would make a great salad. I want one now. Wait–didn’t I just eat a salad for lunch?” Apparently I’m craving crunchy green veggies today. Only now I want some dressed with hummus and olives.
Jessica K. says
Hey Kath! My boyfriend and I are taking a weekend camping trip near C-Ville and I’d love to stop by Great Harvest on Saturday to meet you and Matt (and get some of your delicious bread, obviously!) Is there a time you’d recommend we stop by? I know you guys are SUPER busy and I’d understand if you don’t have time to socialize.
Also, we’re thinking about hiking Monticello on Sunday and if you and Matt want to take a break from “loafing” you’re more than welcome to join!
KathEats says
Anytime before 9 or after 12!! I’d love to do Monticello – let’s talk tomorrow!
Jessica K. says
We’ll probably head over after 12. See ya tomorrow!
JenATX says
You should’ve named the blog post O Face tee hee 😉
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
I’m so jealous you have a sandwich bar to make your lunches from! I hate having to root through the fridge and slice up veggies every time I make a sandwich. 😛
Miranda @ Working Mom Works Out says
Looks delicious! I’m a fan of the openfaced sammi!
Hilary says
Mmmm….looks very green! I am loving how much bread you have in your life. 🙂
Khushboo says
Pesto & hummus together- never tried it but now I’m wondering why not ha!
Lorie says
Others beat me to it, but I highly recommend getting a Sodastream! I’m sure you’ve seen them before, but it is so easy–just fill the bottle with tap water, twist onto the machine, press the button a few times to carbonate the water, and voila! I work at a small kitchen store that sells them, and also own one myself so I can say with confidence that it is totally worth the upfront cost, then costs just pennies to make, and ultimately prevents throwing away/recycling all those plastic bottles. Awesome!
