Is another woman’s treasure!
Seamane invited me to a clothing swap she attends each year at her friend Alice’s house. I had some clothes to donate and expected to maybe come home with one or two things- but I really hit the jackpot with lots of cute stuff!
Everyone also brings a dish to share, and I whipped up a batch of my Baked Oatmeal Snack Bars to take. This is my MOST FAMOUS recipe and I only made them ONCE!! I figured I should make them again 🙂
I also updated the recipe page with photos. The old ones were awful and dark!
Before I left, Matt and I went on a 5 mile run. My stomach has eaten too many sweets lately – that breakfast did not sit well! But we survived, and it was a good way to springpad to the next event. I chugged some coconut water to quench my thirst and tide me until we got to the party.
At the party there were a bunch of delicious foods –
I had a collection of nibbles to serve as lunch, focusing on the veggies, hummus, kashi crackers and cheeses
There were also a bunch of desserts – including these apple pie bites (had one!)
It was some kind of apple mixture cooked into a wonton with whipped cream + caramel to top!
Seamane made Jessica’s Better Than Crack brownies
Strawberry crisp!
Before I left I tried them all
The clothing swap was a TON of fun!! There was a mountain of clothes and we all just dug in happy. I think it had doubled in size from the time I took this early-on photo!
With undies and bras in the room, I didn’t take any photos at the party, but since I knew you’d want to see what I came home with, I did a quick fashion show when I got home. Click the thumbnails to enlarge. I don’t know what my favorite item is – probably one of the dresses!

Time to start thinking about dinner. It’s amazing how run down my body feels after a weekend with more wine + sweets than I normally eat. I’m thinking we need to harvest some greens from the garden for a bit of replenishment for dinner tonight!
Jen says
Wow, looks like you really hit the jackpot at the clothing swap! This reminds me that I really need to weed out stuff from my closet…a few weekends ago I discovered a sundress I thought I’d tossed years ago, lol. Enjoy your new wardrobe!
Nicole says
I can tell you had to roll up all the pants–you’re so little!
Mary (Sisters Running the Kitchen) says
i made your oatmeal snack bars a few times a couple of years ago and loved them!!!!
Allie (Live Laugh Eat) says
SO much trash!! I mean…TREASURE! Wow, that’s a lotta clothes. I have gobs of clothes to donate but I think it’s more suited for a teenager clothing swap. I’ve made those bars before…like 3 years ago!
Tessa @ Amazing Asset says
What a great idea! I have never been to a clothing swap, but attending one is something I must do eventually! I always find great deals at consignment stores and second-time around places
I love the Better Than Crack brownies! I made them for my mom and the ladies she works with and I was told they were gone in about 15 minutes 🙂
I want to try your oatmeal snack bars now! Off to do that
Cait @ Beyond Bananas says
What an awesome idea! I am totally going to share this with my friends.. it is a great thing to do! Looks like a lot of fun.. and you found some super cute stuff!
The Healthy Hipster says
LOVE Clothing Swaps. They are the greatest way to satisfy your shopping cravings without breaking the bank…and they have the added bonus of being great for the environment too. Maybe we should consider organizing a BLOGGER clothing swap? I feel like we could definitely get some gals on board 😉
Lisa Fine says
Fun! Love those white pants.
I’ve never been to a clothing swap, but my old coworker used to host them once or twice a year. I would like to have a book swap at some point. It’d be just like the clothing swap [with tasty treats too], but with our old books instead of clothes!
Amanda (The Nutritionist Reviews) says
What a fun event! Cute clothes.
Molly says
The green dress looks great on you! I love the color – its so vibrant!
Casey says
I absolutely LOVE this idea! I think it would be really cool to combine the book swap and clothing swap into one big party! What a great way to expand your wardrobe and spend a Sunday afternoon with friends!
Molly @ RDexposed says
That spread looks awesome!
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
I love this idea! I don’t anybody that does this. Oh well, i will live through others’ and their fun clothing swaps. Love those pants. I’ve been looking for a pair like that. Enjoy making dinner tonight.
Hannah says
I love the black dress… and those brown boots!! Do you know the brand?
KathEats says
I just checked – no record of any kind of brand. They seem kind of industrial
Carol says
WOW! You really made out well with all your clothing finds:) Love the black dress…very flattering!
r8chel says
That sounds like more fun than the clothing swap I went to last year. Everyone took turns holding up each item of clothing that they had brought, and then someone would “claim” it to try it on. If nobody wanted the item, it was kind of awkward. There wasn’t anything I wanted to try on, so I came home with nothing! Boo.
Heather says
How fun and what a good idea! I had a couple of random questions~
When you go on your early morning runs or workouts do you try to eat within a certain time frame when you get home or do you think it really matters?
In maintenance do you try to stay with in a certain # of calories with each meal and snacks or do you only follow intuitive eating now?
~Heather
KathEats says
I follow intuitive eating. But I almost always need to eat within an hour of a workout. I don’t count calories anymore..
Emma (Namaste Everyday) says
what a fun party! I went to a similar one last year, I got lots of great stuff! It’s green and it’s free 🙂
if you have time, can you add the link to the better-than-crack brownies? I seem to have lost my bookmark for them! and they do, indeed look better than crack lol I NEED THEM!
KathEats says
You can find them on Jessica’s blog: http://www.howsweeteats.com/
Hannah A says
I love that black dress, so sophisticated 🙂
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
I love the idea of doing a clothing swap, but my friends and I are all such different sizes. Maybe we could have an accessories swap instead!
Averie (LoveVeggiesandYoga) says
Oh Kath, that party looks awesome!
first the spread with the nutella, pb & co, all those knives stuck in lovely condiments, that’s my kinda feast 🙂
and love that you’re swapping clothes! I have posted before that i am shop at a place called buffalo exchange which is a recycled clothing store. they only accept/buy clothes that are hip, trendy, and in really good shape and seriously stuff is sooo cheap. i consider buying recycled clothing to be great for the environment…reduce, reuse, and recycle!
and i am also not opposed to neiman marcus, either 🙂
have a great nite!
Ashley says
OH my word!!! The dresses all fit you perfectly…so so cute!! How fun! 🙂
Emily @ Savory and Savage says

kaila @ healthy helper! says
WOW you got a ton of stuff!! I love the pink dress…so cute! I have got to have one of those parties….sounds so fun! And I could use some FREE clothes 🙂
Stephanie @ StephSnacks says
What a wonderful (and yummy) idea. Those brownies really captured my attention, that’s for sure! I agree with you about how your body feels different after a weekend of sweets, mine feels the same way, even after a more ‘hefty’ meal. The body just gets used to a more regimented food schedule after a while, and it’s difficult to switch it up!
Krissy - Shiawase Life says
love the dresses!
Regina says
That LBD looks PHENOMENAL on you!!!!
katie says
I just had a clothing swap today with my best friends too! We do one once a year ever since we graduated high school, and I always go thinking I won’t get too much but walk away with some great steals! I purge my closet and it also takes away my craving to go shopping which is awesome! You got some great pieces too.
I have also had quite the weekend of indulgences, excited to eat GREENS tomorrow!!
shannon says

I totally agree about eating too many sweets than usual and how it can cause havoc on one’s body…It feels so good giving your body some much need veg after a weekend of indulging!

What a fun reason to get together! I am already coming up with reasons to make those amazing looking oat bars.

So many cute clothes! I like the pink dress and red crop pants the best. You look nice in bright colors and smaller, true-to-size clothes, as opposed to baggier ones. 🙂

I’ve never thought those clothing swaps could be that successful but you have definitely proved me wrong! I absolutely adore that pink, black and black and white dress. They look fab on you!!!
Jenn says
love clothing swaps. i just added a couple of things t my shopping list so i can make those yummy looking bars 🙂
Katherina says
We call these Naked Lady Parties and I LOVE THEM! You snagged some great clothes! I have to say one of the reasons I love reading your blog is because I’m 5’2″ too and it’s really nice to relate size wise with someone who went through what I’m going through now. <3
jenna says
omg those apple crisp wontons look so good! you must find and post that recipe 😉 heh
Sabina says
A clothing swap is an awesome way to purge your own wardrobe and pick up some new pieces. You really scored!
Will you get the pants hemmed? I’m about your height and rarely do I find pants that don’t need hemming. :-/
KathEats says
It will take me 6 mos to get them hemmed 🙁
tailor? says
6 months? Why?
Just bring them to a tailor and they’ll be done within a week for ~$10
Jasmine @ Eat Move Write says
You totally should wear that dress with those boots. Everyone does that here on the West Coast. Too cute!
Anne says
# 18-19 is the best fit !
Stephanie says

Shannon @ My Place In The Race says
Oh my! How fun!! What a great idea 😀
Tine says
Can’t believe I never saw your Baked Oatmeal Snack Bar recipe before!
I HAVE to try these!
Caroline @ French Ponytail says
The pink, black & pattern dresses are really cute! What a steal (I don’t even know if you’d call that a steal considering they were free). My problem would be that most of my friends are about 9 inches shorter than me (also the fact that a lot of them live 2000+ miles away). But a really good idea nonetheless.
Natalia@ The Health Script says
Wow I’m really shocked by all the great things you got! You look absolutely stunning in that LBD and the black patterned one!
Charise says
WOW, you really scored! So many cute things, especially those black and black & white dresses!
Kristi says
We call that a ‘Naked Ladies Party!”
Heather Eats Almond Butter says
Oooh, I love the skirt in #13. Also loving the looks of those Better Than Crack Brownies. I’ve been to a few clothing swap gatherings, and the food NEVER looks that good. I think I need new girlfriends. 😉
