This weekend was what summer is all about: slip n slide, bocce ball, fresh air, sunshine and lots and lots of watermelon. We hosted not one but two parties in our backyard – the first in the new house!
Friday night Matt and I relaxed at home. We made these amazing grapefruit cocktails that I’ll be sharing with you next week and sipped them on the deck after M went to sleep.
Matt made dinner while I did bedtime routine – grilled leg of lamb with peppers and tomatoes, rice, and cucumber-parsley-mint raita.
Saturday morning I went to a rockin’ athletic conditioning class and from there ran errands with M, including a trip to Toys R Us for a slip n slide.
Lunch from Whole Foods! Fish / tofu / beans.
Matt, on the other hand, was picking up these! Two kegs from Three Notch’d.
One of our friends wanted to host a party and didn’t have a venue, so at the very last minute we offered up our yard. It ended up being an afternoon soirée that went late into the evening.
The best part of having a sloped yard! Slip n slide! I put a single on top of a double wide and it worked out really well.
Happy birthday!!
I didn’t take many photos, but we play yard games and ordered pizza for dinner when a huge storm hit. Here’s our mudroom when everyone dumped everything inside for shelter!
It was such a fun and memorable party! The first of many in our yard we hope.
Sunday we celebrated Father’s Day with brunch at Brookville!
Mazen and I shared MBF pancake and we still have lots leftover! We also got eggs on the side. Matt got a super spicy bloody Mary! {For scale, that pancake is the size and thickness of a cake!}
Sunday afternoon we started prep work for party #2 – a gathering for my spring soccer team!
Attendance was low due to so many summer travel plans, but here are the core of us!
We had burgers, melon, chips and guac, potato salad and brownies. And we kicked both kegs!
Burger on a cheddar garlic roll!
A belated happy father’s day to all the dads in my life!

What a fun weekend!! And I’m curious, what’s in an MBF pancake?
KathEats says
It’s a big pancake cooked in a cast iron skillet!
Lisa C says
That sounds and looks delicious!
Elyse says

Linda @ The Fitty says
What is an MBF pancake??
Andrea says
Aw Mazen!! So handsome sitting in that plane. That slip n’ slide looks fun!! I actually have never been on one before. We were pretty injury prone as kids so I think my parents tried to avoid it…lol
Courtney @ Sweet Tooth, Sweet Life says
I need an MBF pancake in my life 🙂
Amanda says
Those burgers look wonderful!
Christine says

YUM all of that looks so good! Can’t wait for the grapefruit cocktail recipe 😀
I also feel like I need more pancakes in my life… possibly just a MASSIVE pancake… 🙂
Sam @ Grapefruit & Granola says
Grapefruit cocktails are my absolute favorite! Looks like you guys had a fun weekend 🙂
Shel@PeachyPalate says
The perfect burgers!!! The lamb would be meal and meat of choice always!! Did he grill it on the barbecue?
Stacy K. says
I love hosting parties at our place…. It’s so strange though, are there no fence’s in your yard or your neighbors yards?
I think that’s fairly common on the East Coast and in the South, but it always throws me off. In California unless you live on a big ranch almost every yard has a fence. It’s nice because the kiddos can play in the back yard, with no worries about them roaming away 🙂
KathEats says
No fences! We were actually planning to fence it in before we moved in but we play with our neighbors so much now we figured it wasn’t necessary.
Libbie says
Can you share your potato salad recipe? I’m looking for a good easy one and I feel like you posted one recently but can’t find it!
KathEats says
One of my teammates brought it so I don’t know the details unfortunately

I’m incredibly jealous of that Slip n Slide!

You probably had low attendance because of Father’s Day. Happy Father’s Day to Matt!
Connie says
Kath, I just wanted to let you know that the video ads on your site make it almost unreadable. If I scroll down the page, the video keeps making it “jump” back up (if that makes any sense). It’s pretty annoying. 🙁
KathEats says
Yes annoying indeed – I’ll report it!
