Finally back at home after an afternoon of Great Harvest work. Still location hunting – it’s tough! We spent the day with our real estate broker and ended on a social note – dinner and a drink.
Lucky for us, he treated us to dinner out!! (WHEEE!) Thanks M! And lucky for me, I thought to pack my point and shoot camera.
We were planning to have lunch at Revolutionary Soup today but missed out. But lucky again, we made it there for dinner. The food tasted SO GOOD. I must have been hungry 🙂
I ordered a cup of the Spicy Peanut Tofu Soup, which was thick and awesome.
Plus the Spinach Salad with Raspberries (oh my word I wish these weren’t so expensive in real life), goat cheese and toasted almonds.
I was pleased with the good-sized salad – and that it came with a roll! (Er, maybe that came with the soup!?)
After our early dinner we treated for a drink and some live bluegrass
Glad of vino for me
Dessert was a pinch-the-butt hunk of GH Warrenton’s Caraway Rye from the car. YOM!
Feeling sick because now I might upgrade my blog to a dedicated server. Moving. AGAIN. And that always means trouble. I hate this scary web stuff so much! I just want to pay lots of money to have great service and security! You’d think a company would take me up on that offer. If you are a host and you want my money in exchange for a GREAT server that I will never (EVER) have to think about, please let me know!
Tomorrow, we travel.
laurie says
Kath, I love your blog and have followed you from day 1. Just moved from spending 3 years in Taiwan and want you to know that I think you do an amazing job of living a healthy, happy and balanced life. Thank you for sharing it all with us!
Kath says
Thank you Lauri!
Tracy says
Haha hi Kath, I started reading your blog from your very first post about 3 weeks ago and I’ve only just gotten to December 08! I panicked because I realized you were updating almost as fast as I was reading and that I would never catch up … then I realized I could just read your most recent posts while whittling away at the archives. Twice as much Kath! 🙂
Keep up the excellent work!! See you in two years??
Kath says
Ha – this made me laugh out loud!! Glad you’re catching up 🙂 Wish I could read all of my old posts too!
Mary @ Bites and Bliss says
Good luck moving your blog, Kath!!
Kristen @ Kristen, Sweetly says
I’m overwhelmed that their customer service is that out of control. I hope it works out well for you! I’m sure you will figure it out. Nerd KERF teaches us all so many things! If not you, than I just don’t know.
J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) says
No worries, Kath, I’ll help you get through this blog business! 🙂 Hang in there.
Jenn
Kathy W. says
My husband swears by Pair.com. A hosting service critiquing layout/content is just crazy!
Camille says
Oh man, so much delicious looking bread!
No matter where you blog from, you have a lot of loyal readers!
barefootgirl (our first CSA) says
I’m SO naive on the internet crap (despite the fact that my hubby is on a conference call with Tokyo at this very moment)
😉
if you were talking about the berries being pricey in real life.. I buy Trader Joe’s frozen organic raspberries and they are pretty gosh darn good…… IMOHO
I need to sneak by Tokyo to get my jammies..
night!… and good luck tomorow
holly @ couchpotatoathlete says
I like how you take great shots even with a point and shoot camera 🙂 You have a good eye
I wish I was a host and could take your money!
Shannon says
Nothing like some live music to set the mood 🙂 And I’m a huge fan of your new layout btw. Super chic, easy to navigate and appealing to the eye.
Valerie @ City|Life|Eats says
I always wonder about self-hosting and then read stories like yours (saw your tweets too) and think about how blogs like Orangette and Gluten-Free Girl still have blogspot as part of their names and get tons of readers and don’t self-host – I am sort of in-between – bought my domain name through blogger (so no blogspot in my blog name) but they host. Moving hosts really scares me. I remember Smitten Kitchen had a similar problem last year.
Maissa (Run, Rant, Realize) says
You’d think that a company that sells itself on reliable web hosting would be… well, reliable.
I’m sorry that you’re struggling with your web-hosting.
If you want I’ll write them an email and tell them that I need my daily KERF-fix or else. 🙂
I hope it all works out and that you guys find a bakery location soon!
Valerie @ City|Life|Eats says
Sorry – I hit submit too fast. I wish you the best of luck in getting a new host and thank you for being so open about your experiences – it helps all of us with blogs 🙂
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
Well, even if you are still on the hunt…looks like today ended well! At least you like looking at places, right? I hear ya on the web stuff…it is always scary and no perfect answer!
Christine says
Good luck with whatever happens regarding hosting. This could be a problem on my end, but your new posts aren’t showing in my reader….has anyone else experienced this?
Anyway, foods looks great, and hopefully you’ll get a location soon!
Lauren at KeepItSweet says
I am also having trouble with that!
Valerie @ City|Life|Eats says
Same with me
Nikki says
Your posts also stopped showing up in my reader. It includes your midday post and this one.
I can’t believe their customer service. They need to take a lesson from Zappos.
Amanda says
Oh, so sorry about the hosting problems! That is quite frustrating. I hope you can sort it all out soon.
I’m actually curious if you have any recommended tofu recipes? I hadn’t thought of making a tofu SOUP like above, and I see you had some in the previous post as well. I bought some at my local farmer’s market, but now I’m not sure what to do with it!
Stacey says
Woohoo 😀 I love bluegrass. My family and I are attending a bluegrass festival next weekend in the mountains of N.C.! I think the love of bluegrass runs in my fam 😉 Happy traveling, AND happy Friday!
stacey-healthylife says
Good service, so hard to find. Love the salad, it’s a good size with yummy toppings.
Megan says
Kath!! Pumking is not available in TX!! I have been craving it since last night….could I pay you to ship me some??!! 🙂 Is that even legal?….
Kath says
I hear Libby’s debuted this week in Northern Va – perhaps you will get it soon!? I am on the waiting list for Amazon’s Libby’s stock 🙂 That said, you could pay me to ship you some if you are that hungry for pumpkin!
Megan says
No, Pumking, the “butterbeer”!! Ha! I can get Libby’s pumpkin…..I went to the liquor store last night like a madwoman, looking for that and the owner said it is not distributed to TX 🙁
Kath says
AHAHAHHA!! Oops – Libby’s on the brain!! I suppose I could mail you some, but it would be pretty costly shipping. I will if you really want though 🙂
Alicia says
If you find that host, please let us all know! I have been thinking about making a blurb book out of my blog in case something terrible happened and everything was lost.
Soon your blog AND bakery problems will be solved!
Heather (Heather's Dish) says
good luck with the move! it’s definitely hard dealing with web stuff…it’s totally a foreign language to me!
Allie (Live Laugh Eat) says
One day servers will never crash and we can upload as many darn bowls as we want. Humph.
See ya tomorrow!!
Laura @ Blogging Over Thyme says
That’s scary about the server, I hope it ends up ok, or someone answers your prayers! I hate all the web coding server stuff–way too complicated for my liking.
Sarah says
I don’t understand why your host shuts your blog down. Doesn’t it give them good exposure to keep you up? I guess I don’t understand the internet the way I thought I did.
Kath says
Yes, isn’t that stupid reasoning? Let’s make our website owners mad.
Hillary [Nutrition Nut on the Run] says
What’s a ‘dedicated server’? Which do you use now? Why must you change again? =/ No stressin’, lady.
Caitlin (EatFeats) says
It’s okay, you can do it!!! The heel of the bread is the best part!
Sheri says
My husband owns his own web hosting company. We are located in Canada. My blog runs from this dedicated server. However, nothing is fail safe unfortuntley but we might be able to help you out. Drop me an email if you are interested.

I would like an order of the spicy peanut tofu soup, please!
lynn (The Actors Diet) says

Natalie says
I love raspberries on salad…it may be one of my favorite things!
ilana says
Kath,
So sorry about the the web aggrevation! Wish I had some words of wisdom for you. But I trust in your research abilities, and that you will find the best option. 🙂 A few random asides– Revolutionary Soup was there when my sister lived in Cville, over 10 years ago, and my favorite thing was the Peanut soup! I smiled when I read this. And, I got Pumking today! Can’t wait to try it.
Nicole @ yuppie yogini says
I love when someone pays for my dinner….makes it taste that much better! I told my boyfriend (a web developer) about your hosting company issue today. He wondered if you had considered moving to a private server so you don’t run into the same issue. I’m sure you’ve already worked all this out, but if not, that may be useful advice.
Katherine says
Looks like a great night out and that bread looks so delicious.
cindy says
Since you like glee you most go here…You must watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWvUFCF0yVg
Kath says
How did someone manage to get a video of me like that!?
Freya (Brit Chick Runs) says
This post didn’t show up in my google reader – was there some massive problem with the internet or something last night!? I was just reading twitter….!?

Have you checked out Squarespace (http://www.squarespace.com/) I hear they are very very good.
Sarah (Running to Slow Things Down) says
Ugh…computers, hosting, and other such things drive me absolutely crazy. I hope you can find a host site that takes all that unnecessary stress away, Kath!
Jessica @ How Sweet It Is says
I am in the process of having to move to a dedicated server right now and I am SCARED TO DEATH! I hope things go smoothly for you Kath.
CaSaundra says
I love the looks of that meal–especially the roll!! 🙂
Jillian@ Reshape Your Life says
I saw this guy (ReviveMyBlog.com) on Meals and Miles he might be able to help you.
I’m thinking about using him because I have NO idea what I’m doing with all this hosting business.
Becca @Start Over From Scratch says
You and Matt look like you’re having so much fun up in Charlottesville! I’m glad you’re enjoying life so much. Good luck finding a location and server!
whitney says
revolutionary soup does look so good. I always want to go there when I go visit my friend Whitney but it’s always on our way to arches haha
Paige @Running Around Normal says
That soup looks tremendous!
Hang in there, Kath! I’m sure your readers will be patient if need be 🙂
Melissa @ HerGreenLife says
The solution to the cost of the raspberries is to grow your own. Once you’re somewhere kind of long-term, get some vines established and you’ll be enjoying them for free. Right now, we’re lucky enough to get some of the harvest from my MIL’s vines since we’re renting 🙂
Natalia @asideofsimple says
That lamp is so neat! It looks like some DIY straight out of Real Simple.
Gena says
I feel you, sista. I’m still on Bluehost and it was down last night.
Amber K says
I see that honest tea in the background. My husband is obsessed with that stuff! 🙂
Zach Katagiri says
Hi Kath! A friend of mine, who is an avid reader of your blog forwarded on this post to me because I run a boutique hosting company (we’re hosting her foodblog, and I think she’s emailed you before: http://shiseating.com). Anyway, our mission is to provide extra secure, reliable hosting affordably — and if you’re still looking, I’d be happy to talk to you about moving your blog (I’ve helped a variety of people move their blogs, so I’m somewhat used to the ins and outs of that). It’s not always seamless, but I’ll work hard to minimize any effort on your part and hopefully make it a painless process. Feel free to contact me at [email protected]. Best wishes — Zach
Kath says
Hey Zach! I’ll plan to email you when I get back 🙂
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
Yikes! Too much moving on your plate right now!! On the web, in real life (job and home!!)
Dee says
I really do think the internet went down yesterday. 🙁 LOL!
GL in finding a reliable host/server.
Carter says
I have to recommend Rackspace for your server needs. Their tagline is “fanatical support” and everything I’ve heard about them and their work is great. Really, google them. They’re based in San Antonio where we used to live, so let me know if you want me to put you in touch with some of my friends who work there.
Loooove your blog and love the recipe ideas.
-Carter Judkins Greendyke (Davidson ’05 🙂 )
Kath says
Hey Carter!! I will check them out when I get back from this weekend 🙂
Jil @ Peace, Love & Munchies says
Good luck with the move and that hunk of rye looks…just awesome. haha

Blog issues are never fun – I hope you can figure it out 🙂 That salad looks delish!
Mary Lou Baker says
Hi Kath!
I love your website and have gained so many good food ideas from it!
On another note, my dh is a work at home graphic/web designer and would love to offer you hosting. He’s never had any problems with hosting his clients’ websites. Feel free to check out his website at www.jamesbakerdesign.com. Hope he can help!
Mary Lou
Kath says
Will check it out when I get home!
Lauren @ Healthy Delicious says
I don’t have personal experience with them, but LiquidWeb was VERY highly recommended to me by several people (all independent of each other) when I was asking around.
Monica says
Rev Soup! Love that place dearly 🙂
Hannah says
Ugh, I’m with you on the server thing. I just switched to my own domain and it was so hard, because I don’t understand ANYTHING about computers/css/html. Good luck with your next move!
