Hey y’all!!
I am on call today to help out a friend who needs me, so things have been a little chaotic. I had to be near UVA around 11, so I decided to run there and run/walk around grounds while I waited.
I took my phone with me in my pocket. I only have ONE song on my phone, so I ended up listening to it on repeat the whole time. Don’t hate me!! It was Jason Aldean + Kelly Clarkson’s “Don’t You Wanna Stay.” LOVE that song – even after an hour! It was like one whole long song : )
I ended up running around for about 45 minutes and then took care of bizness and headed back home, quickly showered and bike raced to the bakery for the afternoon. It was quite the exercise hour!
Things are festive at the bakery!! RAWR said the spider!!
Amanda is here and we’re talking about all kinds of fun recipe and improvements we can do to make the bakery super exciting and successful. Go franchise support!
Also, GO curried tuna!!!! xoxoxo to this sandwich – especially on Cville Crunch!!
We all shared a bag of chips while we munched.
And then because:
1) I can’t resist
2) I have a birthday hangover for sweets
3) they are so AMAZINGLY GOOD
We shared some sweets : ) I think I like our products more and more and more as times goes on! I was warned I’d get sick of them, and while my favorites change from week to week, they still always impress me with their deliciousness.
We’re continuing to work. But you know what it means when GH is in town – we get to share our favorite restaurants with them!!!

I’m so sad our Great Harvest here in Pasadena is so limited in its supply—I am in love with Popeye bread, but they never have it! 🙁
Michelle (The Runner's Plate) says
I love running on college campuses!
Michelle (Peachy Palate) says
So easy to come up with reasons to eat yummy baked goods (though usually I’ve eaten them and it’s after I come up with the reasons, the thought doesn’t have time to enter my mind between seeing, holding and munching! :))
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
I’d eat THAT kind of spider. Haha.
I am pretty sure I’d die after one hour of the same song….so you are one strong woman, Kath! 🙂
lunch look delish + that dessert looks to-die for!
Sara R. says
I’m quite sad that we’ve run out of our Cville Crunch bread! Do other Great Harvest locations sell it under another name, or is it exclusive to you guys? I’d love to go to Charlottesville every week to pick up some more but it’s a bit of a trip!
KathEats says
It’s aka Flax Oat Bran! Stupid name, awesome bread
Khushboo says
Birthday week is still going on which makes it perfectly ok to indulge in sweets 🙂
Caitlyn says
I have an i-pod full of songs, but still find myself listening to one song on repeat during my runs. Some songs are just worth listening to over and over!

What a wonderful morning!

I would love to be able to come and visit your bakery and try some of those products. I think I will try and create a curried tuna sandwich. That sounds delicious.

I am loving that scary bread spider. That’s too cute 🙂
Have fun with GH in town and restaurant sampling!

I am so going to stop by Great Harvest in the spring when we visit our nephew at UVA. I’ll be one of the people walking into the bakery with local beer for you and Matt. It is snowing today in upstate NY. Yuck.
Amy says
I know you can’t share it but I am dying to know what that curry tuna recipe is. That sandwich looks so good, seriously!
Fran@ Broken Cookies Don't Count says
Your baked goods look so delicious and you have such a wide variety, I don’t know how you could get tired of them. I’m sure I’d gain weight if I was around there!

YUM! The bread spider looks so festive 🙂 I like your ‘antiquated’ photos- nice artistic touch!

I hear you on not getting sick of the desserts. I used to work at a homemade ice cream place and even after being around it all the time, I still craved it. Your GH desserts look amazing!
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
Haha I would never get tired of all those amazing sweets! And I love the spider – what a cute idea! I love when places do special things like that, keep up the good work!

It sounds like you have a great variety of sweets to keep you from getting bored. That is a cute spider bread. The holidays are going to be fun with all the festive treats. 🙂

Are you cutting the crusts off your sandwiches??
<3 the spider!
KathEats says
Haha no – I got that from the bread board cut off a round loaf

LOVE the spider! But would definitely have no problem ripping off one of his little legs and eating it!!
Kathleen Ojo @ Onward; Inward says
That spider is awesome. And awesomly creepy!
Julia H. @ The Petite Spiel says
EPIC bread spider. It kind of reminds me of the huge inflatable spider we have in my suite as a halloween decoration. Yah, it’s not exactly something that’s allowed in dorms, but we just won’t tell my RA that 🙂
Molly @ RDexposed says
Had to tell you that my patient yesterday brought up how they HAD to go to GH for cinnamon bread-thought of you! They didn’t mention any spider bread…
KathEats says
Oh fun!!

That’s so cool to have support like that; I’m sure it helps a ton! I am looking forward to your GH business meeting restaurant posts. The food always looks so good! Need to be a KERF series in itself, haha.
TeenyLittleSuperChef says
Dang, I need to get my butt over to Great Harvest for some Curried Tuna. That looks so delicious. I’ll pass on the spider roll, though. Not quite as appetizing, especially since it looks about twice the size of me. I hope you’re having a great birthday week. Let the party continue 🙂
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
I love the birthday sweet tooth!
Hope says
I absolutely love that Kelly Clarkson song! It’s so pretty! 🙂

UVA looks beautiful! When I was in middle school and planning on being the next Katie Couric, that’s where I wanted to go to school (because she went there!). Granted, I no longer want to be a broadcaster but I still want to visit UVA!
Irina says
I don’t think you need any excuses to have that bar, especially considering it is made in your own bakery! It looks delicious 🙂
Julie F says
Um, no offense, but the spider reminds me of the giant ant in Honey I Shrunk the Kids.
Lisa D says
I love that song! I’ve listened to it sooooo many times on repeat. Maybe you can try a pandora app? I don’t have too much music on my phone so I just listen on there 🙂
Lindsay says
I hope you don’t get bored with them, bc they always look delish! I need to try that curried tuna…yumm!
