Hiya!
The best way to upgrade lunches, in my opinion, is the spruce up the ingredient list. Just putting one fancy ingredient in the mix makes me excited the night before. Today, it was olives. I heart them!
Starting with a sardine salad. 1 can sardines with carrot, green pepper, dill, black pepper, olive oil and mustard.
I plan to scoop it up with my fun curvy spoon (that comes with the Sagaform snackbowl)
And plop it only some OLIVE Food Should Taste Good‘s!! This flavor has a really subtle green olive aftertaste that I just love.
On the side, a simple salad of romaine (already chopped and washed the night before) topped with avocado and jarred kalamata olives! And a drizzle of balsamic.
Lastly, a big ole cantaloupe (might save some of this for snacktime)
Olives – love ’em or hate ’em?
This time 3 years ago we were almost on our way to our wedding rehearsal!
And ended with Blues, Brews + BBQ
Happy Almost Wedding!

I looove olives. I like green olives more than kalamata because kalamata are a little too salty for me. That lunch looks great – I am still toying with the idea of eating the sardines that are in my fridge!
Stacy (StacyGrowsHealthy) says
I love olives chopped up. Whole olives have too strong a flavor for me.
Lovely rehearsal pictures!

Your sardine salad reminds me that I really need to whip up a batch of sardine salad myself! I have several cans in the pantry at the moment which I have, till now, forgotten about. Thanks for the sardine inspiration!

We share the same anniversary, Kath. I’m so excited for tomorrow! We’re going out for Indian and then we’re going to relax on the couch while burning our anniversary candle, watching our Wedding Video and eating fudge from Cape Cod (and possibly some ice cream). Enjoy your day! Happy 3rd Anniversary 🙂

Blech.. do not like olives. I really want to and i’ve tried them many times but I just do not like them very much..
theemptynutjar says
You look so pretty in that white dress. Beautiful.
Your lunch looks yummy. Salads are great with avocado and buttnernut squash additions too.
I used to eat olives on greek pizza…haven’t found that variety for a while now. Not overly fond of them, but don’t hate them either.
Courtney @ Sweet Tooth, Sweet Life says
Eeeek…olives are one of the very few foods that I still cannot just get myself to like. I try and try, but just have no acquired a taste for them yet! Maybe someday 🙂
Lauren says
I wish I liked olives, but the fact of the matter is I can’t stand them! I detest olives with the same passion that you detest onions ;).
Tammy says
Hi Kath! Love your site. Please remind me the calendar/tool you use to manage all your priorities. Thanks!
Kath says
Google Calendar! See the NERD KERF tab
Doc says
I love, love, love olives! We currently have kalamata, garlic-stuffed, and manzanilla olives at home as well as pickled artichokes and red peppers. I find some pickled, briny goodness adds a lot to my salads!
I can’t get into sardines, though! They look like little headless fish! My fiance had me try smoked oysters from a tin and those were glorious. You should try them!
Happy almost wedding! 🙂
af @ .the food. says
i love olives. notice that the phrase i’ love’ can be spelled from the letters in the word olive!
Kath says
Haha – love it!

Camille says
I love olives! I used to do “Olive fingers” as a kid 🙂
Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg says
I love olives! But I used to hate them…funny.
That looks like a really fun rehearsal dinner…ours was super casual too. I really like that trend, instead of the formal, traditional rehearsal dinners of the past!
Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter says
I never realized wedding rehearsals are so big! Then again I’ve never been to one.
Marisa (Loser for Life) says
I love olives! Kalamata are my favorite 🙂

Is your rehearsal dress from J. Crew? I have one that looks just like it!
Kath says
It was from some inexpensive store and I had it altered.
Cynthia (It All Changes) says
I love olives but not straight up. I have to put them in something.
Fun looking at old pictures of stuff you’ve done 🙂

I can’t stand whole olives, but EV olive oil is generally my oil of choice. Congrats on your upcoming anniversary! Just wondering, how old were you when you got married?
Kath says
24 and 3/4 🙂
Sarah (Running to Slow Things Down) says
My grandparents were married on June 2!!! 😀
I love olives. I used to have a thing against the large, unpitted kinds, but now I love them. Kalamata olives are my favorite for their meaty texture and robust flavors. 😀
Gavi @ GaviGetsGoing! says
Happy almost anniversary to you! I LOVE olives–they definitely enhance any salad. I’ve never tried the olive-avocado combo, but it sounds delicious. Your lunches always look so beautiful! 🙂
Amber K says
I am not a fan of olives. I would eat them at picnics and BBQs sometimes, because people wouldn’t usually bring anything I liked when I was a kid. And FSTG chips are the best, but again, I was not a fan of the Olive flavor.
Lyndsey @ I'm Lyndsey says
I only like the green stuffed olives and Kalamata. I don’t like the black ones that come in a can, and I HATE them on pizza. I love them mixed in with a greek cous cous salad though! Yummm.
Normally when avocado is involved in my lunch, the day is gunna be good! lol
Mary @ Bites and Bliss says
I love olives! On Thanksgiving, we always have a center peice full of olives for my dad and I since we snack on them so much. I use to put them on the tips of my fingers and pretend they were those English guards with the big black hats hahaha 😛

Anne @ Food Loving Polar Bear says
I love olives, mmmm!
Wei-Wei says
I used to despise olives but now I… tolerate them. A lot of my friends think they’re nasty but sometimes I add a few sliced ones to my salad and getting that burst of salty flavour really gives an edge of sophistication. Yummy! 🙂
