Off Target

Target is throwing my day off target

I got sucked in. I ended up with most of what I needed – and came home with a rolling briefcase.

:NERD ALERT: !!

Traveling as a blogger means a heavy laptop, a huge camera, usually a lens or two, cords, plus the regular healthy essentials: often a lunch, snacks, water bottle, book, cell phone, wallet.

You can imagine how heavy my tote bag gets on my shoulder! I remember a while back Meghann bought a rolling bag for her travels. (And Ashley packed her cameras in an entire rolling suitcase!)

When I spotted one in Target, it ended up in my cart. No more shoulder aches!

IMG_7084Blog

It’s basic on the outside but perfect for me because it has TWO big pockets – one for my computer and one for my camera bag (most of these guys just have one pocket for computer).

IMG_7086Blog

And a really spacious front pocket for all my personal items.

IMG_7087Blog

There is just one problem – I have to put everything in juuuust so to get the thing to zip. I’m a bit angry at the zippers right now, but I think I can make it work. Anything is better than not having wheels.

So Target kept me out until 1:30, so I didn’t get to make my recipe today. It keeps getting bumped! I was too hungry to cook, so I assembled instead:

A big salad with:

  • Spinach
  • Pumpkin spice vinegar (from Boston Olive Oil Co.)
  • Green pepper
  • Carrot
  • Leftover cranberry chicken breast
  • Goat cheese
  • Cinnamon almonds

IMG_7067Blog

Plus this awful, awful dry bread. I barely made it through half the slice.

IMG_7063Blog

Good thing Matt is making some bread from scratch today!

Back to my list!!

I’m going to check here for carry-on luggage for my trip next week. Very timely post 🙂

What a great idea! I could really use one of those, my poor shoulders have had enough. I guess out of all the things to get target-ed into buying, you should be glad that you found something so useful 😉 ah, Target.

I love the idea of a rolling briefcase! My shoulders ache so much after traveling with heavy bags/backpacks. Your salad looks great – we have the best cinnamon pecans from a Christmas gift – I need to bust them out on a salad.

All those big box stores suck me in every time! The worst are Target, Ikea and Big Lots – I just keep perusing even though I know I need to be quick.

Getting sucked in at Target = the norm! I posted about it last night. It happens…to everyone 🙂

I love your rollerbag. My hubs had had rolling briefcases for the 12 years Ive known him. The Tumi brand which cost more than a Vitamix almost…ha! …but he travels for work and rides airplanes and they hold up super well.

I hope you love your new Tar-jay find! 🙂

Ah, the rolling bag. It was a few years ago when we broke down and got rolling suitcases. Eventually as you get older and have a kid, it gets near impossible to travel with everything in backpacks and duffels. Now, we love them, and one of them is small enough for the 4-year old to pull.

It must be the new year – time for blog updates. I decided to work on a contact page, favorites page, blog roll page…and it looks like a lot of the my favorite blogs are updating too! It’s a great idea – makes it easier to find exactly what you want. Mine is definitely a work in progress.

Bed, Bath, & Beyond and Williams/Sonoma are like that for me. I always seem to find something odd that I want. I’m oddly good at telling myself that in an apartment kitchen it just doesn’t make sense. Good for you for getting something you actually need, though! I usually come back with 1% what I needed and 99% clutter.

Ahhh Target is my downfall. It’s so funny because, though it opened years and years ago in my city, it still feels so new. Like, “Oh! I’m going to Target today!” I could literally spend hours in that store. As for your stubborn zipper, I’ve actually heard you should use a bar of soap on both ends of the zipper (and both outside and inside) to help it move smoother.
