The sun didn’t rise until breakfast was made. Guess she was on the hunt for a bowl of oats to start her day!
Every morning when I wake up I consider what to have for breakfast. Sometimes I have a plan already – overnight oats or a special food brought home like a muffin to dictate what I have. But most mornings I decide in bed. Not that oatmeal isn’t very healthy, but I always think: “A big fruity smoothie would be a great way to start today.”
And then I get up. Hunger hits with a bang. And all that sounds good are huge bowls of oats, muffin and nut butter! I’ve always had a hearty morning appetite, and oatmeal is always the best solution for it. Stick to your ribs!
Today’s bowl was Coach’s oats with pumpkin stirred in at end, plus half a banana, chia seeds, a pinch of salt, 1/2 cup each of water and milk – plus Carrot Raisin Walnut muffin crumbles on top and Wild Squirrel butter.
Plus – a new totally amazing tea by Adagio that I ordered – Pumpkin Spice Ice Cream! It’s heavenly. Just what you’d hope for!
Happy Friday Friends!
Brittany @ Eating Bird Food says

Kristy @ KristyRuns says
Whoa. P. Spice Ice Cream is a TEA? Umm…yes, please!
Amanda says
I love your bright and sunny breakfast photos! The crumbled muffin pieces on top look delicious too, and your tea selection lately has been fantastic! I’m a big fan of “dessert” teas.
Did you figure out how to get the foam to stay put?
KathEats says
30 seconds of heat in the mug, pour tea on top
Johanna B says
I’ve been drinking Bigelow’s Pumpkin Spice Tea every morning and it’s very good but Pumpkin Spice Ice Cream? Wow. Must try soon.
Molly @ RDexposed says
I can’t seem to be creative at 6am for my breakfast. I’m lucky if I paid attention enough to grab cinnamon rather than cumin when I season my oatmeal. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been unlucky!
Stacy @ Every Little Thing says
As annoying as it is to be hungry approximately 2 seconds after waking up, it’s such a good feeling to eat a hearty breakfast and fill my stomach!
kelsey @ living the gluten free life says
That tea sounds absolutely heavenly! I’ll have to search for some – looove the idea of adding the frothed milk to it ;).
Julia H. @ The Petite Spiel says
I’m with you on oatmeal–I really need something filling in the morning, and oatmeal definitely sticks to my ribs! I don’t understand people who are good with just eating a cereal bar or a piece of fruit for breakfast. My tummy needs more!
Jules @ La Petite Maison Verte says
Your breakfasts always look so delicious and satisfying. And that tea sounds just perfect! I just picked up chia seeds for the first time yesterday so I’m going to try them this morning in my oatmeal! Can’t wait 🙂
Hillary says
I’m sorry, did you say pumpkin ice cream tea?
Must. Have.

I love the sounds of the pumpkin Spice Ice Cream tea. Whoa. I think I need to place an order! 🙂
Cara @ EAT. PRAY. RUN. says
I am the same way about breakfast…the night before I’ll think up some type of fancy egg sandwhich or pancakes but come the next morning – all I have is oats on the mind!
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
That tea sounds like something I could drink in gallons!!! Happy Friday Kath!
Khushboo says
I’ve heard of chai flavoured ice cream, not vice versa…wow!

KathEats says
Yup!
kathleen @ the daily crumb says
pumpkin spice ICE CREAM tea?! oh my goodness does that sound delicious! i hear you on the breakfast cravings… i always “plan” for a green monster or eggs with veggies, but then when push comes to shove, it’s oats or another carboliscious breakfast calling my name 🙂

The tea sounds wonderful!

Yum! Perfect breakfast! Love the bowl 🙂

I’m always in the mood for a hearty breakfast too (unless I had too hearty of a dinner the night before, in which case a smoothie sounds right on target!) 😉
Erin (Travel Eat Repeat) says
I actually tried Coach’s Oats for the first time this week — a sample from Fitbloggin’, I think — and didn’t like it at all! After seeing them all over the blogs, I thought they might be okay but something about the texture totally turned me off.
KathEats says
They are chewier – like steel cut oats. Have you had steel cut before?
Erin (Travel, Eat, Repeat) says
Yes. Maybe my mistake was using them in overnight oats instead of cooked oats, I don’t know. I’ll stick to my usual Quaker old-fashioned oats for now.
The Mrs @ Success Along the Weigh says
Now THAT looks like a meal that’ll stick with ya!
I just so wish my body wasn’t revolting against flavored oatmeal right now. It’s currently only accepting plain ol’ oatmeal. Boo!
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
I need that tea! YUM! I just messed up my oats by putting a protein powder in them that I’ve never tried before. HUGE breakfast fail. Now I ruined my favorite part of my morning. Oh well, lesson learned. Your breakfast looks amazing! I will live through your eats this morning…not mine.
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
Now I have Tequila Sunrise stuck in my head… it’s 5 o’clock somewhere, right?! 😉
Cait's Plate says
I did Coach’s Oats with pumpkin and a crumbled pumpkin scone on top the other day (plus sunflower butter of course) – SOOOO delicious!
I do that too with breakfast when I first wake up. Sometimes I think “I want something a little lighter today” and then as soon as I’m up and about that changes!
Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries says
Pumpkin Spice Ice Cream TEA?! Wow, that sounds fantastic. I just bought some real pumpkin spice ice cream, and I’m in love… now I need to get that tea apparently!
Ashley O. @ The Vegetable Life says
Your tea looks like a cappuchino, and VERY professional 🙂
Cat @Breakfast to Bed says
You just said “stick to your ribs” like my southern MawMaw. Now please say “bless her heart” so I can feel even homier.
Bronwyn says
That tea sound AMAZING. And your bowl of oats is calling to me, I think it’s time to switch from toast to oats. Warm, filling, creamy.
Rebecca says
That tea sounds absolutely swoon-worthy!! I had a pumpkin pie smoothie in a sunbutter jar today and it was everything I hoped for…I love when that happens!
Krystina (Organically Me) says
Pumpkin spice ice cream TEA!? I need to try this brand.
Joanne says
Happy Friday Kath! So bright and cheerful AND a great bowl of oats.
J3nn(Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) says
Oatmeal is very filling! Almost too filling, lol.
Emmy (Wine and Butter) says
I’m the exact same way!! I CANNOT get by on anything that isnt super filling in the AM (Although yogurt and dried fruit and nuts works really well too). And, pretty much no matter what I eat, Im always starving the whole morning anyway and HAVE to eat lunch by midday. Basically Im not full until ive eaten about 1000 calories… sometimes I think I should just surrender and have some HUMUNGOUS brunch style thing and be done with it until dinner. Not sure how work would react to me feasting on french toast every morning at 10am though…. Have a great weekend sweet lady!
Julie H. of Spinach and Sprinkles says
It does just stick to the ribs, doesn’t it?! I do the same thing when planning. 🙂 No matter what I choose it will be delicious!
Caitlin @ Vegetarian in the City says
what a lovely breakfast. the colors in your pictures are beautiful!
i was curious about what Flying Squirrel Nut butter could be ! it looks so perfect – runny, oatmeal friendly texture. I want some!
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
It totally depends–some mornings I am super hungry, and some only a little bit. Plus I work out/teach fitness classes in the a.m. so I can not eat a lot–or else I get sick! haha.
Love that tea idea 🙂
Stef @ Living HI says
That tea sounds amazing, what a perfect compliment to your pumpkin oats.
Darien says
that tea sounds divine!
Ellie@fitforthesoul says
whoaaa that tea sounds crazy awesome! And I totally feel the way you do about breakfast. Like today, I woke up and was able to do my morning stuff and relax. Then BAM! My stomach DEMANDED for oatmeal. I promise, it talks to me! 🙂
Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning says
Oatmeal is still the only breakfast that I have found that will keep me full for hours!
Are Coach’s Oats chewy? I used to make these delicious, chewy oats that had the best texture and can’t find them anymore.
Just thinking about them makes me drool a little bit!
KathEats says
They are somewhat chewy – kind of like one of those nine grain hot cereal type mixes? I should have given you some when you visited – I have tons!
Emily says
oats looking great, as usual! Happy Friday!
Alaina says
I have got to look into getting those teas! I love the flavors that you’ve been having. 🙂

Andrea says
Is this the tea? http://www.adagio.com/signature_blend/blend.html?blend=17696 Wanted to check since the name is slightly different and the one review wasn’t that good. Sounds delicious though!
KathEats says
That’s it!!
Andrea says
Great, thanks!
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
I have a huge appetite in the mornings too. A smoothie just wouldn’t cut it for me! Oatmeal or yogurt messes with Greek yogurt are the only way to go. 😀
Living, Learning, Eating says
I have a big AM appetite, too. 😉
Actually, I might just have a big appetite…
Lindsay says
Hold the phone…(or blog) pumpkin spice ICE CREAM TEA??? Where can we order???
