Morning!!
I definitely have a cold, but I think I’m doing well keeping it at bay. Hopefully it doesn’t get any worse! I definitely felt better this morning than I did last night. It’s just been looming. Not really an official cold with symptoms yet.
But this AM, going to the gym and pushing myself on a cardio machine just didn’t make sense.
What did was an hour of breathing, twisting, sweating and detoxifying with Dave Farmar. I brought in the space heater (and blew a fuse!) and had a great yoga session. Dave Farmar‘s podcasts are better for the seasoned yogi because you have to know the names of the poses, but his beginners version on YogaDownload is good for those who want to get into yoga. Dave is great!

I love Daves classes – but every once in a while I can’t figure out how he gets from one position into another…. Still love it though.

Haha. I LOVE that drawing on your coffee 😀 Glad you had a good yoga session, seems yoga can make anything feel better!
Hope you feel better as the day goes on!
PS. I soooo should’ve had oats this morning…oh well, there is always tomorrow!

Hi Kath, love your morning coffee shapes, so fun. 🙂
I know you are a big wheatberry fans, so I wanted to share this random recipe I just made this morning for breakfast:
1/2 cup of cooked wheatberries
1 pear cup up, or an apple might be better
1 of those mini cups of sugar free apple sauce
sprinkle cinnamon
sprinkle pumpkin pie spice
microwave for 1-2 minutes
delish, similar to a pear/apple crisp
*next time, I’m thinking some kind of nutbutter might be nice with it as well.
Kath says
Sounds delish! I need to make more wheatberries!
zestycook says
Nice Drawing kath! You are so artistic 🙂

every time i see your oats in a jar, I want to try it. We just don’t go through nut butters fast enough around here (or I’m too cheap to buy anything but the giant jar of pb at costco).

I can tell my body is trying to keep something at bay as well. We know what to do…rest, lots of live live foods and agua. 🙂
I’ve also started to take my echinacea and vit C along with my daily vitamin. Will keep doing this daily until spring has arrived. I hope that helps too!

Don’t show that alligator to Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point! She’s nervous she’ll get eaten by one at her Tri!
Question: Is it ok to put hot oats in a plastic jar? I’ve always wondered if the heat from the oats might “melt” the plastic into the oats or something. What are you thoughts on that?
I hope you feel better!
Kath says
I never think my oats are that hot. I don’t let them boil – just get pretty hot.
Christie @ Honoring Health says
yay for yoga with Dave Farmar!!
Have a great day and hope you are feeling better soon.
leslie says
Do you ever make your own granola? It is so easy especially using the bulk section at the grocery store. I found recipe last year that I adapted to my taste and I make a big batch which I freeze in small portions to enjoy over Greek yogurt, oatmeal, or alone with milk. Yum!
Kath says
Yep! I have two recipes on my recipe page. I’ve gotten so much granola through sampling though, that I haven’t made it in ages!
La says

Too bad you’re sick! I hope you feel better soon. 🙂
I had tried a Dave Farmer podcast a few days ago and made it about 15 minutes in … then I was so confused because I’d have to pull up poses on the computer WHILE doing the flow. Not fun! I’ll have to try his one from YogaDownload!

Hey Kath, hope you’re feeling a bit chirpirer – yoga always brightens my day! I notice you mixed cottage cheese in with your brekkie. Seems a bit of an odd combination to me! Doesn’t it taste a bit…cheesy?!

jaclyn@todays lady says
It was definitely a good day to do yoga for you! I’m so jealous of your nuttzo, I don’t think any stores where I live carry it. I’m hoping to go to the states this weekend so I’ll have to keep my eyes open!

Love me some Dave Farmar yoga! I might have to do some this week, because I have to train a client when the yoga class I usually go to is. I just hate when the podcasts get all static-y and I can’t hear them…
Have a great day!
Ash @ Good Taste. Healthy Me says
I hate getting sick! But yoga is definitely a way to workout and not overdo it.
Ally (Exercise and Pies) says
I just downloaded 4 free things from yogadownload and hopefully they work out well cause I wouldn’t mind paying a little bit of money for yoga in my living room!

katherine says
Oh Dave Farmar, how I love and hate you! His podcasts are so wonderful; tough, but incredibly rewarding!

Feel better hun. And definitely don’t ignore those early warning signs. That is a complete indicator to take it easy, which you have been doing. Good for you! 🙂
Katie@ Two Lives, One Lifestyle says
Very creative with the coffee shape this AM! I’m just getting into yoga so thanks for the Dave Farmer info. I haven’t tried any of his yoga downloads yet!
Rose-Anne says
Dave Farmar yoga is so nice. I actually downloaded one of his podcasts and listened to it while making dinner the other night, trying to get a feel for what the class would be like when I followed along on my yoga mat. I think that makes me a yoga nerd 😛
I hope there are no hard feelings about the sugar thing in your breakfast post last Friday. I can be very blunt sometimes, which comes off as mean, but I don’t want to upset anyone. I’m sorry.
Kath says
No problem 🙂

Hey Kath,
Question about French Press coffee. I just recently got one and wondering how you heat up your water for it. Do you use the stove top or microwave. I’ve been using the microwave but it doesn’t get that hot and I’ve heard it’s dangerous to heat water in the micro. What do you guys do?
Kath says
I use an electric tea kettle, which you can see in the Open Sky shop video or my French press video. It’s a LIFESAVER for French pressing!
Julie says
FYI – Your puzzle post played a McDonalds ad for happy meals when I visited your site.

I love your posts 🙂 They really keep me entertained (especially that gator) lol
I was wondering, what do you put in your coffee in the mornings? I’ve thought about trying almond milk, but I don’t know if that would taste a little funny
Take care 🙂

Just milk!!! Sometimes skim, sometimes 1-2%
