Today is actually KAREN’S 60th birthday!!!!!!!!!!
[Karen is my mother in law who lives here in Cville]
It’s been weird to talk about birthdays today and think about the fact that there could be a birth today.
I was in the mood for grocery shopping this morning and went to Whole Foods to stock up and get fun things for the dinner we’re making for her tonight. I thought I had had my last grocery store trip solo, but little baby proved me wrong! Guess he wanted to go one more time : )
Back at home, Karen came over and I made us quesadillas for lunch
Stuffed with avocado, tomato and melty cheddar cheeeeeeeeeese!
Served with grapes
And raspberry leaf tea
I have the urge to clean the dirt off the wall under my desk and make date balls for labor fuel. Do you think that’s a good sign!?
Sana says
Happy Birthday to the lovely Karen!

Yes, cleaning and wanting to get things done a good sign! The day my active labor started (I had on and off contractions the day before) – we did a 2 mile walk and I couldn’t believe how fast I booked it! If only some of that energy could have been bottled up and saved for later! Hope your little guy decides he’s ready to arrive soon!

Good for you & glad you were OK going to the store. Bring a couple bath towels with you in case your water broke as you are driving. Mine both happened at home where I could walk in my bathroom with tiled/wood floors but if in the car it’s easier to clean.;-). You got yummy food from Whole Foods.

Happy Birthday Karen!
I can’t wait to see the yummy dinner that you make tonight! Any plans to whip up a cake with buttercream frosting??? 🙂

My favorite part about grocery shopping towards the end was thinking that I would have a baby before their ‘expiration date’. I was several days late with both of my kids and the days past my due date were the worst. Any time someone called and I answered the first thing they would ask is ‘No baby yet?’ Even though I had reassured everyone that I would let them know when I was on my way to the hospital or had the baby. When I saw people they would say, ‘Oh. You are STILL pregnant.’ I finally turned my phone off. lol. You have such a great attutitude about it all. It was awesome. I was better with my 2nd cause I knew what to expect, but with my 1st, I REALLY thought I would have had her by her dur date. Once they are here none of that stuff matters. I am sending good labor vibes your way right now 😉

Everytime I type in “Katheats.com” into my browser, I’m in literal suspense because I don’t know if you are in labor or not. I think I am more freaked out than you LOL and also, I’m far from being a mommy (21 y/o) but if I was on the verge of pregnancy, I would just stay at home! I think movies with labor stories in cars in traffic have gave me this caution haha You are a brave soul Kath, a brave soul.
Joanne says
Happy Birthday Karen. Hope it’s a great one.
And..good luck to you Kath on those Lemon Drop Cupcakes being successful. 48 hours? How far do we have to go now?
KathEats says
I think we can call them a dud…. like 3 hours to go!

make the date balls! fooooor SURE! 🙂
my friend emily (my hair girl) went in to labor with her son Zach a few hours after i gave her a HUGE amish made cinnamon roll from a special bakery in our area. She ate the whole THANG and she swore it was the sugar rush! (she is a little girl like you.. so i am sure it was a major sugar hit for her bod!) Maybe the cupcake was too little? 😉
Seriously… the cinnamon roll was like the size of a grapefruit. 😀
happy birthday to mom in law!!! I bet she is super excited, too!

Happy Birthday, Karen! Kath, I was two days late with BOTH of my children. But I remember on the evening of my first child’s due date, I sat on the kitchen floor and SOBBED. There was SUPPOSED to be a baby!! What happened?! Oh, I sooooo feel for you!!! Hang in there, girl!

I’m sure it would be such a funny little birthday present for Karen if you had the baby today…only a couple more hours to make that happen! 😉
Jennifer says
YES! That nesting is a good sign, that is. I don’t think it predicts eminent labor though. Thankfully no one has ever stayed pregnant forever regardless of if you feel otherwise.
I often felt like ‘something’ was happening in the evenings and then I would drink some water, change position and it would go away. You are making me feel very nostalgic about those last few days before delivery at a time when we’re deciding on the timing of #3. I can picture those nights trying to get that baby to come (I was 9 days late).
Mom says
Happy birthday Karen! I’m sorry the baby didn’t come on your birthday, but odds are good you will share a birthday week.
susan says
Happy late birthday to Karen – nice she lives close by and will soon be enjoying a new baby! Every morning when I click on to your blog I think “maybe there will be some stork news” – you all must be soooo excited. I too, am a grandma and it’s so much fun. So wonderful to have a baby and love hearing all about the baby and your food news! I’m sure your blog will change due to having less time, but I’m hoping it won’t change much! By the way, can you please tell me what blog it was where you showed a pretty knitted baby blanket someone made you?
Have a great day and we’re all keeping our fingers crossed! Rest while you can!
