Guess who stayed up to complete another late night assignment!!!! ME!
The reason I get so excited about this is I have NEVER been one to work late at night. I’ve never pulled an all-nighter (ever) and really have never needed to because I always do my work early and save the time most people use to procrastinate to play. So lately since I haven’t had to get up early for class, I’ve been seeing the 8-11PM hours as prime working time. And the thought of waking up the next morning without any weights on my shoulders is pure bliss.
Today I just have one small thing to complete and I am REALLY going to take the weekend off! All that lies between me and my R.D. verification statement:
- Finish this Community take-home test
- 2 big research papers (should take me 2-3 days each)
- 3 short no-biggie presentations
- 1 reflective writing exam
- 3 final exams
Can’t you believe it!?
My goal is to have everything but the finals done by Thanksgiving so I can take that whole week off to play with my family. I CAN DO IT!
Going to bed at 12:30 meant sleeping until 8:30! My body loves 8 hours, although I was having crazy dreams when I woke up!
I decided I didn’t want to feel too full for 11AM exercise, so I went with yogurt for breakfast
- ~1/2 a cup TJ’s greek yogurt
- ~1/3 cup Kashi GoLean Crunch
- 1 tbsp Fortnum and Mason Raspberry preserves
- 1 giant banana
- Packet of Barney Butter, warmed up in my hands for 5 whole minutes to make it squeezable
In a fun Cali bowl!
Picked up some of this tea from the Hotel Vitale in SF!
Hoping Earl Grey is enough caffeine for my shoulders!
THE SUN IS OUT! Can you see it peeking!?
I am actually really sore from yoga yesterday! I think I tore open my shoulders 😉 Planning a visit to the gym on my bike once I finish this test. So glad it’s not raining!!
Kat (Kat's Daily Plate) says
Yay for being so productive! I always think its best to make a timeline for getting a pile of work done and to have a reward at the end!

If there were any blogger who would be able to get that list done, it would be you! Good luck with everything!!
Christie @ Honoring Health says
Hoooray for getting your work done! I am such a procrastinator. I have a huge sanskrit test in my yoga teacher training tomorrow and plan to cram for it tonight. Sigh.
Julie @ Peanut Butter Fingers says
when i was in college i’d get SO much more done at night. it’s amazing how different times in our life make us more productive at different times. now after 6pm i’m mentally checked out!
Jessica @ How SWeet It Is says
I love the accomplished feeling of getting work done!! 🙂
Food Makes Fun Fuel says
Good luck with all that! I know I’m feeling the work load atm too but I’ve moved past the hardest essay
megan says
Have you ever read eat that frog? Well, I think it describes you perfectly. It’s about getting your work done, starting the highest priority, and not procrastinating. It helped me a lot, but I don’t think you need it – you already do what it advises! For anybody else who procrastinates though, I think it’s a great book.
Anne Marie@New Weigh of Life says
It’s been so cold out that I haven’t been able to have yogurt for breakfast. I need my warm oatmeal 🙂
Mellissa says
There was nothing better in my last semester of grad school then to check things off the list and see 2-3 assignments remaining and knowing I was so close to being done!
Diana says
Im glad you had a productive night! I’m more productive in the mornings and evenings. In the afternoons I just wanna nap ahah
brandi says
i’ve never pulled an all-nighter, either. It does feel good to have everything done 🙂

Good luck on getting everything done so you can hang out with your family. 🙂

I stole the tea from my room too! I was all about the all-nighters in college.
Megan (The Runner's Kitchen) says
Being productive at night can feel so good! I’ve been staying in the office pretty late this week (~8-9pm) and have found that I can get a lot more done without the phones ringing and the distraction of chatty co-workers. I just have to plan ahead and bring snacks for energy 🙂
Stephanie says
oh em gee I am so glad it looks like the rain is finally stopping here too! i thought our house was gonna float away :/ ready for some serious sunshine this weekend – hoping the weather man delivers
stephanie @ foodie mcfood says
I was totally the same way when I was in school. I hate feeling overwhelmed, so I would break everything up into manageable chunks and just do a little each day. It’s really the most efficient way to get things done.
Kelly from Bridges and Bites says
All your hard work is going to really pay off! Yay for getting stuff done! (I should take a lesson from you!!!!)
Janna (Just Flourishing) says
You can do it!!! Good luck with everything!
And btw I am your total opposite: I am ALWAYS the one to work late at night. I’ve FREQUENTLY pull all-nighters. I NEVER do my work early because I PROCRASTINATE so much.
In fact, I think I need your help with study tips! Maybe I’ll send you an email and you can give me some pointers!
Courtney says
I love getting things done in the morning so I have the evening to relax! I get more done before 7 AM than some people do all day I think! LOL
Congrats on being almost there…you must be so excited to be so near to your goal!

It is so great to not have to think of work/school over a vacation. I am all about getting things done ahead of time too.
PS – Fortnum and Mason is the best!

Dude!!! I am sooooooooo sore from yoga, holy cow!!! It didn’t even take 24hrs to set in, which is normal for me. But shoulders are ridiculous…abs and glutes are definitely feelin’ it too!! Hoping an easy run helps loosen me up! =)
Estela @ Weekly Bite says
I wish the sun was out in DC…. still raining 🙁
Hopefully there will be sun tomorrow 🙂
Krissy (Single Serving) says
Good luck at finishing your list. You can do it!! The rain has traveled to NY today. It is miserable out here!

I love how you set the table with the placemat and napkin. I bet that helps you really focus on the meal and what it’s doing for your body. Not to mention, it looks great! Doing something simple, like decorating the table, really helps to keep my kitchen inviting so I’m willing to cook more instead of eating take out all the time.
Sarah says
Wow, the home stretch, that is so awesome! I have been working toward a degree in public health off and on for a while now (it’s my second, my interests shifted after college the first time) and when I think I’m too old to start over (I’m only 27) or it’s not worth it, I think of you 🙂
It’s been neat to see how hard you’ve worked toward your RD. Good luck with the rest of your assignments and exams!
Madeline @ Greens and Jeans says
I’ve never been a night owl either! In college I’d wake up early to be able to finish everything I needed to do by dinner!
Vanessa (Last Night's Leftovers) says
I need to learn to procrastinate less so I can enjoy my free time with nothing weighing on me!
Chelsea says
I too have never pulled an all nighter. I would go to bed early in college and wake up at 5 am to get it done. But, right now, I AM procrastinating! Work’ll do that to you sometimes.
Ali @ Food, Fitness, Fashion says
Good Luck getting stuff done!!! That is so exciting!!!

Ugh, I’ve been staying up late too working on projects.
By “picking up” the tea in SF, do you mean the five fingered discount? Well done.

Good luck with all of your work! I’ve been having really weird dreams lately too . . . I think from watching too many episodes of SVU!
sue says
wow that is a lot of work! but having a whole week off with the family is worth it- good luck tackling that list!
Wendy says
I’ve had weird dreams lately, too. I’m attributing mine to my alarm going off at 4:30 a.m. in the middle of the dreams I wouldn’t usually remember when I get up at my usual time!
Good for you getting your work done ahead of time!! I was always one of the procrastinators in college, so I was always up late working on assignments. These days, my brain turns OFF around 8 p.m. If I do try to do brain work in the evening I end up not being able to sleep because I have too many thoughts running around in my head. Good luck getting the rest of your assignments done! My goal to make my holidays enjoyable is to have all my Christmas shopping done before Thanksgiving!
Kath says
megan,
No, but sounds like a book I’d like to read for fun 🙂
Jory,
A certificate of sorts from an accredited institution that says you’ve completed all of the requirements to be eligible for the R.D. internship and then sit for the exam.
Ashley,
And what’s weird is that I didn’t even think that class was very hard!?
