It was a beautiful night to be out and about!! Much improvement from the teens we experienced earlier this week. Still l.o.v.i.n.g our new house’s location – just a quick brisk walk and I’m in the thick of things!
Tonight I met up with beautiful Hilary for some gallery crawling!
And while it appears we were caught in a beautiful snow flurry, I promise it was not snowing ; )
Our first stop was my favorite gallery, the Second Street Gallery, where we viewed two awesome exhibitions exploring texture, color, paper and words: Rachel Hellmann’s Chromatic Boundaries and Scott Hazard’s Typographic Cultivations. I didn’t want to take photos, but you can see snippets here!
We nibbled on a pretty fancy spread of catered appetizers
Including bacon-wrapped dates!! And this beautiful cheese spread
Some nibbles!
We went to a few more galleries and browsed through Urban Outfitters before meeting up with Faith and Tate – completely accidentally – when we both walked into Vita Nova pizza! It was the shock of the week to find them already in there!
I had a Margherita slice – with extra cheese!
It was wonderful. And Matt joined us just in time!!
We three kings girls and Matt headed down to Sweet Frog to end the night. The weather was finally warm enough to even think about eating something frozen!
Coconut, Mint Chocolate, Cake Batter topped with candy bar crumbles. I always think I’m going to go light with fruit and then always end up with candy. It’s just so much better!
Matt and I called it a night early since we’re both tired from a restless night last night. Hoping to get some good reading in in 5…4…3…2…
Katelyn @ Chef Katelyn says
Ugh, gorgeous girl! Look at those LIGHTS. C-ville is so cute, I’m convinced I’m going to visit all of you down there and eat bread. All day.
Allie@LiveLaughEat says
Love the ‘snowy’ photos! I bet it was beautiful on the downtown mall tonight. Candy makes everything better.
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
hahaha! I was like, “how is it snowing there?” What a fun night!
Mindy Lord @ clueless nut says
Had fro-yo this afternoon on this beautiful day(outside!!!), too. I always tell myself I will get all fruit but the heath bar bits and cookie dough crumbles are just too tempting! Happy Friday 🙂

That’s the most exciting swirl in your cup I’ve ever seen 🙂 It’s perfect.

Thanks for a fun night, pal! I’m so glad you got me out of the house (I think I had a riveting night of project runway + daily show reruns planned). Let’s do it again next month!

She’s Come Undone is one of my favorite books. So thoughtfully written and laugh-out-loud funny.

I like “heavy” froyo too better than froyo with fruit. 🙂
I bet someday when you have a preteen they will love to walk right down town.

Those pictures are awesome!
Mmmm froyo. I have been having mad cravings. I was going to go alone last night to get some (and blog about how cool that makes me, obviously) but luckily I found some friends who were willing to come. Too bad I am STILL craving it! I snuck a taste of the cake batter flavour myself…but it wasn’t my thing. More power to ya!
Kaila @healthyhelperblog! says
I wish we had more fro yo places around! The flavors you all get always sounds so amazing!!!
Jamie @ Don't Forget the Cinnamon says
The twinkly lights are gorgeous! As are you and Hilary!
The best froyo combo I ever had was gingerbread and dark chocolate groups with pretzels on top! If you ever see gingerbread froyo, I highly recommend this combo!
Sarah says
I end up with candy froyo everytime too!! My intentions are always fruity, candy always wins!
kristen @ verbs and vignettes says
very cute night out! i’m blowing off my entire to-do list again in favor of getting some sleep. i like the sound of the early night.
Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries says
that must be so nice to just walk right into town from your home! haha your froyo comment made me chuckle a bit because i always do the same thing… i usually have the intent to go with fruit toppings but somehow it often comes out with chocolate/candy toppings. oops! 😉
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
The lights behind you guys in the first pictures are so pretty! Looks like a winter wonderland 🙂
Angel7 says
That pizza looks delicious! I almost had my husband order some pizza tonight, but we ended up making our own pasta instead.

Dessert looks SO good! Damn wish I got one after my night out with sushi. Well, I did inhale some green tea ice cream. 😉
I am jealous of your close city house location and its awesome gallery exhibits and cool restaurants. Definitely a good place to call home.

Can’t decide which I’m more in the love with–Cville, that cheese plate, or the froyo. Seriously, it’s a toss up 🙂

It amazes me the food those galleries put out! Oh to be in walking distance of a froyo joint, I’d love that. My tummy wouldn’t, but I sure would. 😀
Lorin says
We have something like a gallery crawl as well in San Luis Obispo. Art studios open up and some provide little snacks. It’s really fun. I also went to Fro yo too, but it’s a new place here and it is so good! Soo many toppings. Mini nutter butters, peanut butter filled pretzels, chocolate covered espresso beans, ect ect. I never get the fruit except banana. I figure I’m getting froyo I want candy not fruit, haha.
Hannah @ Sparrow + Spark! says
Looks so much fun! I wish we had that where I live.
Such great catering too- I had the fruit toasts with seeds all over Christmas- delicious with Stilton/ blue cheeses!
Maria @ Sinfully Nutritious says
How beautiful. The twinkling lights just capture the fun of the evening.
Fran@ Broken Cookies Don't Count says
Something sweet and creamy sounds good. Just found out a frozen yogurt place opened about 3 miles away. I need to go try it!
Kristen @ Change of Pace says
Sounds like the perfect night! I always say I’m getting vanilla yogurt with fruit… Never happens! Somehow reeses cups end up in the mix 🙂
Brittnie (A Joy Renewed) says
I agree… candyish toppings are so much more appealing than fruit on top of frozen yogurt goodness! I go for the cookie dough and brownie bites each and every time! Looks like a fun night out. Glad you enjoyed yourself!
Clare @ SweetnSimple says
Gorgeous night with beautiful-looking food 🙂 Loving the look of that fro yo, I’ve never had anything like it!
Kristine says
Beautiful! I am sometimes envious of the life you lead!

How funny–I was in the same Sweet Frog just a little later (Coconut and Chocolate FroYo were gone when I got there, sadly!). We frequently almost cross paths…. hopefully one day I’ll catch you in the bakery!
I’ve never had Vita Nova pizza–do you recommend it?
KathEats says
Haha – it will happen!
It’s a toss up between Vita Nova and Christians – they were about the same. Also VN had little salads!
Rebecca @ Naturally Healthy and Gorgeous says
It’s never too cold for frozen yogurt!
Lauren @ What Lauren Likes says
Hmmm I haven’t had fro-yo in forever 😀
Emily says
Looks like you ladies (and man) spent a lovely evening! The temperature looks pretty balmy by your cute outfits (I live in Ottawa, ON, Canada and all week it’s been -30ºC…I think that’s -22ºF?), probably will be many, many months before I can go out in a light jacket!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Amanda says
What an awesome night! I love the sparkly little lights, and the food looks great too. It’s going to be in the low 50s in Boston today (yes!)…I think that may be just warm enough for fro yo. 🙂
Susan H. @ The Food Allergy Chronicles says
Love mini lights…I miss seeing them on the Christmas Tree already! My mom and sister-in-law have a tree in their kitchens with mini lights they put on all year round…I would attempt it if I had a green thumb…alas indoor plants are not my forte.
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
Haha I got Pinkberry with my friend yesterday and we definitely both ended up getting candy! It’s just so much better!
Emily says
Yum yum. Frozen yogurt!
I should definitely consider checking out some of the art that Cincinnati has to offer, I have been to the museum and the contemporary arts center, but no little galleries like that, and we definitely have some available!
Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning says
Good lord- that yogurt looks incredible!! Like, lick the SCREEN incredible!
I just found out that my cousin (technically cousin’s cousin) works at Mono Loco- I think she’s a waitress-her name is Callan. You guys go there sometimes, right?
KathEats says
Cool! I haven’t been there in a while, but I will look for her!
Ashley says
Hey Kath! I have been poking around on KERF/BERF and came across this post. I was wondering about the frozen yogurt… I am 10 weeks pregnant and recently signed up for the future moms program through my Anthem health insurance. When I was on the phone with a nurse at Anthem she was going over some safety guidelines and recommendations. She listed several foods to avoid such as unpasteurized cheese, high-mercury fish, and and lunchmeat. I was surprised that soft serve ice cream and frozen yogurt were also on the list. And very disappointed since there is a new frozen yogurt place in my area that I’ve been dying to try! She said that sometimes the machines that dispense the FY are not properly cleaned and can harbor listeria. Have you heard the same thing? Or have you been told it is in fact safe? Not at all trying to criticize your choice to indulge! Just curious because I have been avoiding soft serve and have been craving it! : )
-Ashley
p.s. – I have really been enjoying BERF and, thanks to you, am obsessed with Pregtastic! Good luck in the coming weeks – I really believe natural birth is the healthiest option and can’t wait to hear all about your experience. I am not sure I am strong enough to go completely drug-free, but you are an inspiration!
KathEats says
Hey Ashley,
I have heard the same rumors about listeria and frozen yogurt places, but this seems to be a new guideline – my doctor didn’t mention it at all. If I were you, I would ask the owners of your place (or the managers) how often they clean their machines. If they respond with a system and say they always clean between flavors, then I’d be OK with that, but if they are wishy washy on procedures, maybe find another place to visit.
