As I was editing these photos, I was smiling at how much I’m enjoying Mazen’s company these days. He is such fun to be around, and he’s entered the stage where he is saying the most hilarious (and sweetest) things all the time!
We started our day with scrambled eggs, at M’s request. Plus lots of fruit and blueberry High Five bread from the bakery.
Wednesday means it’s time for Chris’s strength class. It was upper body-heavy today!
While I was working out, Mazen was planting flowers in Kidszone. I can’t say enough good things about it! We go 3-4 days a week, and he just loves it. They have (free!) classes for the kids, and they often do little arts and crafts projects like this one. And the ladies (and few gents) who work there are like our family.
On our walk home, in the middle of playing “I Spy” we spied the Smoked BBQ Company truck!! After a long winter off, our weekly stop is back in motion. The smells wafting from the cart are just amazing! Raise your hand if you want mac and cheese for lunch!
I usually keep some money in my stroller (I don’t take my wallet to the gym) but all I could find was a sad $.95. Just shy of enough for the mac and cheese. I ran into a friend in line who lent me some cents! (Actually a dollar because he didn’t want my change, but I will pay him back!)
When I got to the front of the line my friend who owns the business gave me a full plate on loan. I will pay him back with interest tomorrow! That was very sweet of him.
So we feasted on the best smoked pulled pork, baked beans and mac and cheese for lunch. I added some of my bean salad and some green juice for a bit more veggies.
Quiet time followed, and I caught M reading a book in his bed. He usually plays hard with his piggies and trucks, so this was a sweet moment to see!
After QT we went out to meet friends at Kohr Brothers for $.05 cone day!! I LOVE Kohr Bros custard!!
{If you’re curious, Mazen’s shirt is from this Etsy shop! I’ll be doing a giveaway soon : ) }
Back at home we planted his flower in the yard and played with our neighbors for a bit –
He takes his trips to the grocery store very seriously…. (and I’m not kidding – that’s where he said he was going!)
Wine Wednesday!
Back inside for dinner, we had big bowls of Cook Smarts chipotle beans with yogurty spicy slaw and yoga-mole (yogurt + avocado guac).

Then it was time for bath followed by lots of bed jumping!!
Raise your hand if you’re excited for Survivor tonight!!

Hey Kath! I might have missed it, but did you do a post on transitioning from the crib to toddler bed? Our son turns two next month and I’d love some advice. He looks so sweet reading in his big boy bed. Thanks, Katherine
KathEats says
We went from crib to toddler crib when he learned how to climb out of the crib. I was too scared he would get hurt! Luckily this didn’t happen until about 2…if I remember correctly. He slept in the toddler bed for maybe a month before he just started asking to sleep in his twin bed, which was already in the room. We just rolled with it, and I had a side rail ready for the occasion that I borrowed from a friend. He used that for 3-4 months and then he wanted me to take it away, so I did. He has fallen out once or twice, I think, but he just got back in bed, so he wasn’t hurt or anything. Now he’s 100% big boy bed!

Oh man that slaw sounds good! I’m such a sucker for shredded dressed vegetables when the weather starts getting warmer!

You have to share a few “Mazen-isms” with us! I love hearing the hilarious stuff toddlers say. 🙂

Most recently we got a new rug for our living room. As I unrolled it he said “Mommy it’s beauuuutiful!” and over the past few days he will randomly say “Mommy I really love our new rug.” 🙂
Tonya says
haha! Such elegant taste 😉

Me too! Mazen’s headboard is cute too! Did you make it?

It was Karen’s guest room bed! She had it custom made.

Survivor was a good one! So sad that *** went home… I was rooting for him to win. 🙁 (The fake idol he made was really cool, though!)
KathEats says
Edited your comment with *** ; )
But yes, it was not my favorite vote. I was really hoping the plan worked! I am not a fan of the Blues, so I hope they get shaken up this week.
Laura @ Vegetarianesque.com says
Ha! Oops. Didn’t mean to include a spoiler. 😉

Hey Kath! I used to live in Charlottesville and love seeing your take on the city as it changes and gets more fun restaurants. Just wondering — did you pay your friends back?!
KathEats says
Of course!!! I’m not a terrible person!
