It’s been forever since I’ve done a New Finds post! I’ve been keeping a list of things to write about – so it’s a long one!
Beach Town Posters
I read about Beach Town Posters in one of my magazines – I think it was Coastal Living – and knew they would be the perfect addition to our beach house theme. When I saw that many of my favorite North Carolina beaches were included, I had to get 3! I grew up going to the Outer Banks and of course love Bald Head Island. I hung them on the big wall in our basement and put them into these frames I bought on Craig Frames. They are the perfect beach house décor for the space! I plan to add a file cabinet furniture piece underneath them when I finish browsing the options. Leaning towards this one!
Born Joya Sandals
These Born sandals have been my favorite for a year – they are SUPER comfortable. I found them 50% off a few years back.
I’m one of those types where when I find something I love and I want it in All The Colors. I was browsing the net one day and stumbled across the same pair in GOLD at Sierra Trading Post and before I knew it they were on the way to my house. Y’all know I love me some comfortable shoes that I can dress up and dress down, and these are so great for all kinds of outfits. They’re the Born Joya Sandals, FYI!
#EatRealFood
Need a reminder to eat more real food? KERF reader Marney sells handmade hashtag towels in her Etsy shop and appropriately wanted to send me the #eatrealfood one.
So cute! If you need one for your kitchen, Marney is offering a coupon code for 10% off to blog readers: KERF10.
Sweet Sandies Toasted Marshmallow
Gaaaahhhhh can I profess my love again for Sweet Sandies Stephanie!?
Her Toasted Marshmallow wins for BEST ICE CREAM EVER! She uses real toasted marshmallows that she roasts herself! I special order pints regularly. She now has a website and Facebook page so you can see more about her flavor options and events. She does special orders (locally only, I suppose) of her famous ice cream sandwiches for parties and occasions! Find her at our farmer’s market on Saturday mornings if you’re visiting Cville!
Plate Joy
Plate Joy is a company that is kind of a mix between Cook Smarts, Hello Fresh and Blue Apron – users browse recipes and create a meal plan and then Plate Joy works with local grocery stores to have the ingredients delivered. They kindly asked me if I’d like to submit some of my KERF recipes to be included in the recipe library. My landing page is below, and if you try the service you can get $10 off with the code KATHEATS. There are a lot of other recipes and bloggers, so you can mix and match too!
Live In Love
I am a bit perfume obsessed and can often pick out what someone is wearing by standing next to them. (“Are you wearing Ralph Lauren Blue!?” I asked a women at the farmer’s market. She was floored.) When I went on the Hershey trip earlier this summer I sat next to one of the girls on the trip there and she smelled WONDERFUL! I asked her what the scent was and she told me Oscar de la Renta Live In Love. I went home and found it on Birchbox (that’s where she discovered it) and got it stat (actually I bought the gift set that came with the matching lotion, body wash and a really nice make up bag because it was a good deal!) It was nice to accrue some Birchbox points to use, and it’s been my favorite scent of the year.
Sephora Atomizer
Also on the perfume front, I picked up this atomizer at Sephora this summer. I wanted to be able to take my favorite perfumes in my gym bag, and this tube is the perfect travel accessory. You just squirt your perfume inside and you have a mini perfume ready to go. My only complaint is it looks like something ….personal…..due to the double rounded tips!! Wish they would square it off.
Build Up Your Blog
My friend Gina recently published an e-book called Build Up Your Blog. She sent me a preview of the book, and it’s great!! It provides a wonderful foundation for creating a blog and turning it into a business. I’ve been blogging for years and pulled a few really good tips away, but I think those just starting out would get a lot out of it too. Gina’s voice is great – very personal and relatable.
Babiators
Babiators! Mazen loves his sunglasses! We went through 3 broken pairs before finally getting a pair of these. They are super flexible, so they are really hard to crack. And if you lose or break them in the first year the company will replace them for only the cost of shipping. At $17 they are not cheap for baby sunglasses, but for a pair that won’t break easily – totally worth it. I already ordered a second pair. (He is wearing the size small, FYI).
The Nesting Place
I just finished reading Myquillyn Smith’s book The Nesting Place. Myquillyn is the blogger behind The Nester, and I’ve read her blog for a while now. This book was AMAZING. So, so good. I looked forward to getting cozy in bed and reading a chapter every night. This isn’t just a decorating book – it’s about how you feel about your home. It was life changing for me, and I want to read it again! I’ve already bought it for two of my girlfriends too.
I loved these two quotes from the book, which represent a large part of what I took away from it:
KERF Newsletter
And last but not least… I’m working on starting up a monthly newsletter! I’m not quite sure when the first one will go out, but you can sign up over there —>
You can also subscribe to receive blog posts in your inbox each day – an easy way to read each morning’s post : )
No worries – I will never use your email for anything other than KERF-related things.
xoxo,
Kath

Love those sandals! Gosh, I wish it was still sandal season around me! One day I’ll live somewhere it’s warm all year round! 🙂

Great finds indeed, Kath! I’m adding the Babiators to Claire’s Christmas list and The Nesting Place book to my mom’s list!!! (and maybe mine too, heehee). Ooh, maybe you need to do a gift ideas roundup on Baby KERF for the holidays?? :))
Thanks for sharing!
Melanie

I laughed out loud about the perfume bottle looking like a “personal” item! Haha! Also, The Dollar Store has been the best place for us to find baby sunglasses. You really can’t beat $1 and they’re the only ones my daughter will keep on! Just a suggestion to try for next summer if you need a replacement pair. Although I do wonder about the UV protection on them.

I also bought Gina’s “Build Up Your Blog” e-book. I thought it was a great read, and even at 70 pages, I finished in one weekend. As a newer blogger, she provided some fantastic tips to help build up my audience. Definitely recommend to anyone trying to build their brand.
Ashley @ Saving Money in your Twenties says

I feel so dum, I didn’t get it! Can someone explain it? I must be blind.

The towel looks nice and cushy but looks like the binding has really shrunk? How long have you had it and has it been washed a lot?
KathEats says
I think it’s just the tri-fold I do? It makes it curve in at the bottom. It’s held up well – and I’ve used a little bleach to keep it white.
Emily @ Sweet Summer Smiles says
Oh my goodness, I love ice cream and the Marshmallow ice creams looks mouth watering! Wish I had one near me! Have a good weekend!
Anonymous says
Ralph Lauren Blue is my fall scent 🙂
KathEats says
I used to wear it and love it!
Emily @ More Than Just Dessert says
I love the “classic but modern” (is that even a thing?!) style of artwork on those beach town posters! I saw a similar collage with cities instead of beaches this summer and really wished I would have picked it up.
Kay says
Omg. I’m the same way about fragrances, if I’ve worn it, and I smell it, I know it. 🙂
As a total perfume addict. Lately I’ve been switching from light summery scents to more woodsy fall ones. My current fave is Nest Fragrances White Sandalwood one. A hint masculine, with sandalwood notes, but totally perfect for a cozy night out. My hairdresser kept asking me what it was last week.
Happy Friday!
Kay~

That marshmallow ice cream looks amazing! I bet it would be killer on top of Angela @ OSG’s pudding cake!

Love those sandals! Added them to my “attempt to afford in November” list 🙂 Thank you for sharing.

I love these posts! Can’t wait to check out that perfume. I may need to take a mini-vacay and run down to CVille and try that ice cream!
Robin Melanie says
If you enjoy fragrances, check out Jo Malone scents.
Erika @ fortheloveofpeanutbutter says
Handmade ice cream is THE BEST. And I’m still laughing over the mini perfume thing, ha! Definitely looks like a personal item.
Lynn @ The Actor’s Diet says
Born shoes are the best! I wore my flip flops to the ground.
Emily @ Life on Food says
The baby sunglasses are so cute. My nephew has a sunglasses breaking problem. I am buying a pair ASAP.
Elisabeth says
Thanks for the beach poster rec! They have some awesome Washington DC posters on there that I MUST buy! Favorite vacation spot 🙂

Thanks for the tip on the atomizer. I ordered two of them based on your recommendation (they had one of them on sale)! I have a couple of big bottles of perfume and I never wear the same fragrance in more than one day. Now I will have the tiny spritzers when I go to the gym and/or as a substitute to my really big clunky bottles.
I also love the entire Sephora rollerball/travel size collection. Just a tip for you perfume die-hards. I hardly ever buy big bottles anymore. I would much rather buy 3 travel size bottles – even if they are more expensive. I hate wearing one perfume for months. I get tired of it. Now, picking out a perfume each day is like picking out what flavor ice cream I want to eat at Haagen Dazs. So fun. It’s an athlete-version of dessert.

these posts are great!

Great to hear about the Babiators. Planning for a beach trip (here in Australia) and these will be perfect and great present idea. Just wanted to ask – I’d like to buy for an almost 3 year old so just wondering how big the next size up would be or do you think the 0-3 small size will last Mazen a couple of summers? Thanks
KathEats says
I actually have both sizes. The smalls are perfect for mazen now but the large fit him ok. I’d get the large.

I just came across your website and noticed your mention of our company, Craig Frames Inc., along with the great photos of your framed beach town posters using our picture frames. That frame style is actually one of my favorites and I’ve taken a few frames home for my wife to use with her craft projects in our daughters room (she likes to paint over them with bold colors to match the theme of the room). Thanks for the shout out! We will see if we can return the favor at some point this year. Wishing you all the best in 2015!
