I discovered this morning that our new porch loveseat has a cute-as-a-button button hole that is the perfect resting place for a bowl!
No tipping there!
The nestled bowl was filled with cereal, again. I think my maternal instincts must be kicking in to love Morning O’s so much 🙂
I also filled the bowl with shredded wheat, banana, blueberries, chia seeds, a drizzle of honey, a few dried cherries and milk! Plus Sarah’s homemade dripped honey roasted peanut butter. Tastes a bunch like my own favorite honey crunch pb.
But what is it about cereal that makes you wanting bowl after bowl! Probably just because it tastes so darn good…
The Mrs @ Success Along the Weigh says
How about that, a nestling place for the bowl and instant placemat! Gotta love multi-tasking!
The bowl is adorable by the way, do you remember where you got it?

Pier 1, many years ago
Hannah @ Eat, Drink and Save Money says
What a good place for a nestled in baby too!
Emily @LivingLongfellow says
Good morning kath! how do you afford to eat blueberries so often in the winter? are they frozen or do you find a good deal at a certain market? they’re so pricey here.
KathEats says
I chose to buy them – because they are on my cravings list.
Elisabeth says
Actually, where I live (northwest Ohio), bluberries seem to almost always be on sale 10/$10 for a pint (practically all year long!). Too bad, because I don’t like ’em raw…
Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries says
i’m loving all the green in these photos!! i agree… cereal just makes me want bowl after bowl, hence the reason i rarely buy it! i have hardly any self control with cereal. ha.
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
Look at those colors!! So appealing to the eye!
Kristin says
Cereal is one of my favorite nighttime snacks, and it is so hard to stop at one bowl!! I started putting it in a teacup/mug so I can fill it up twice :p
Lauren @ What Lauren Likes says
Great breakie bowl 🙂
Jamie @ Don't Forget the Cinnamon says
Haha you really do just want to keep eating it!
I remember in high school I would eat so much cereal in the morning and then ALWAYS wonder why I felt sick until lunch time…
Jodi @ Jodi, Fat or Not says
I have some serious bowl envy. Cereal is definitely on the “do not eat” list late at night because one bowl can very quickly turn into two and three…
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
Yea, I can’t buy cereal because I eat it over and over, I just can’t get enough! Maybe it’s just not as filling? Or just crazy delicious…
Balance NYC says
Now just think about sitting there with your baby! Great pattern on the cushion btw 🙂
Greta @ Staying Lost says
Your loveseat makes a very nice photo background!
Susan H. @ The Food Allergy Chronicles says
I just love my morning bowl of oats! I buy a big box of frozen wild blueberries from Nova Scotia…I slightly defrost them and they are oh so good in my morning mash! Nestled there in the sunshine with your bowl…must be hard to want to move!
Courtney@Translating Nutrition says
You aren’t kidding about the bowl after bowl of cereal comment. I just had some cereal and could easily eat another one!
kathleen @ the daily crumb says
i like to have a bowl of cereal before bed and have started eating upstairs in my actual bed because 9 times out of 10 my need for a 2nd (or 7th) bowl is suppressed only by my laziness that keeps me from going back downstairs!
Jana @ Newly Wife Healthy Life says
Cereal is so delicious, but as soon as I finish a bowl, I find myself wishing it would magically re-fill itself! 🙂
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
Love that bowl! My fav cereal growing up was cheerios with banana. Comfort brekkie. 🙂
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
I love your porch furniture Kath! And I agree on the cereal being addictive. I swear, I could eat it forever without feeling full. When I was a kid, I was all about the Trix, Corn Pops, and Froot Loops (why on earth did my mum EVER let me eat those!?) My wiser and older tastebuds are also much healthier, so it’s Kashi and Nature’s Path for me now. Have a fantastic day!
Lindsay @ Running the Windy City says
I have such a problem eating cereal (always wanting bowl after bowl) that I only let myself eat it for breakfast on rushed mornings when I don’t have time to go back for more!
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope says
I really love the colors of that seat cushion!! It’s so spring like. 🙂 That cereal bowl looks yummy.
Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga says
Have a great week, Kath. Looks like Monday morning is off to a good start with this!
Tiffany says
I love those button spots, they hold my oatmeal bowl perfectly as I wrap myself in blanket and get cozy! haha
I haven’t had cereal in so long! Yours looks delicious!
Gwen says
I thought you were supposed to stay away from peanuts when you are expecting, are all you nut butters okay to eat ?
KathEats says
I wondered this (because of the suspected Kate Middleton pregnancy!) and asked my doctor and he said there was no reason to avoid it based on the research. Said it was a good source of protein and women have been eating PB during pregnancy for centuries.
JessicaE says
Babies are the ones who cant have peanut butter/peanut products for awhile if I’m not mistaken.
Wendy Heath says
To my knowledge (having just done OB rotation in nursing school) there is no contraindication for peanut butter for a pregnant woman. Peanuts do have more inflammation causing proteins, but there hasn’t been any indication that it causes any sort of risk during gestation. Munch away! That bowl looks SO GOOD… I’m going to have to go get some cereal now while I study.
Babies shouldn’t be given peanut products until they’re older because of the likelihood of developing an allergy- again, inflammatory proteins… same with eggs, dairy milk, etc. A huge no for babies is honey- clostridium botulinum spores can hang out in honey and while safe for older kids/adults, it can cause paralysis of the diaphragm in a baby and knock out respiratory drive.
Pregnancy foods to avoid: Caffeine (linked to low birth weight and SIDS), lunch meats and hot dogs (nuke thoroughly if you’re going to eat- listeria risk; not so bad for mom, pretty bad for baby), alcohol (duh), raw/smoked fish (food poisoning risk), undercooked (rare) meats. Some docs recommend no drippy eggs, either- depends on the doc.
KathEats says
Thanks Wendy! Caffeine and alcohol (surprisingly) have research to support both in small amounts though.
Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning says
Cereal is probably one of my all-time favorite foods, but I rarely buy it because I have no self control with it! 🙂
I’ve been making peanut butter like crazy lately, trying out different kinds of peanuts. I need to start mixing it up and adding other things in, like honey!
Heidi from BundlesOfHugs says
That looks yummy ..all I brought this morning to work was fruit. I woke up late! I love your patio furniture and colors are so pretty!
Elise Melancon says
Hello,
I really enjoy reading your blog. I would like to know if you purchase Chia seeds ground or not.
Thank you and have a nice day!
Élise
KathEats says
Hi Elise,
I buy them whole, and you can consume them whole. I like their texture whole more.
Mom says
Love the new porch furniture!
Brittnie (A Joy Renewed) says
I’m the same way with cold cereal… always find myself reaching for a few more bites!
Cait's Plate says
I’m glad to hear you say that about cereal because I LOVE it but find that I can only eat it for a snack because it just doesn’t hold me over like oats and yogurt do in terms of breakfast! It makes me so sad!
Looks like a wonderful breakfast nonetheless 🙂
Blessing @ Working Mom Journal says
Love the chair bowl and breakfast. Will you auction off some of your plates sometime in the future? LOL.
Khushboo says
I always pour myself a small portion of cereal..it justifies the second bowl ;)!
Maria@ Sinfully Nutritious says
I want that for dessert.
Anna @ On Anna's Plate says
You really just can’t beat a big bowl of cereal for breakfast 🙂 Happy Monday!
Rebecca says
Oh my goodness I love that bowl…
Jenny@vegetarianhatesvegetables says
That bowl is all curled up, but has no book to read!
Sarah@The Flying ONION says
The colors are so SPRING-y!
And I could seriously eat continuous amounts of cereal too…it’s a little ridiculous, actually. Same goes for pancakes. 😉
Emily J says
I feel the same way about cereal! I always want more.
Cm @ Lazy Healthy says
Lovely color scheme. I need more bright colors in my decorating. For so long I’ve been a beige, brown and grey only girl.
Becca @ Blueberry Smiles says
Your breakfasts always make me want to do mine over again and have what you had!
Kellie says
We just had Great Harvest for the first time at the new location in Plano, Tx! I was so excited to finally try all the delicious things I see on your blog. Yum!! Can’t wait to go back again and try more!
Olivia says
I agree. I cannot stop at one bowl of cereal. Too delish.
Amelia says
I have been wanting cereal vs oats more and more each morning too, only I know that I can’t be pregnant. 😉 I attribute my craving to wanting something cold and thirst quenching since the humidity has been zapped from the air in our house! This morning was Optimum Blueberry Cinnamon with frozen blueberries, sliced banana, strawberries and almond milk.
Your breakfasts are always so pretty!
Sarah says
Kath, belated congrats on the pregnancy!! When will you be launching the new blog? I’m very excited about it (we’re starting to think about babies 🙂 )
KathEats says
Thanks! About 2 weeks until the new blog
Angel7 says
I like the different flavors going on in your bowl.

Patty @ Foodie and the Beatz says
Kath, I am trying to find the post where you comment on what you avoid in cereal ingredients. For some reason I remember you mentioning something about protein isolates? Am I crazy?
I’m wondering how healthy my Kashi Go Lean really is. The ingredient list seems longer and more complicated than I’d like.
Thanks!
KathEats says
Here it is!
You’re right, I don’t consider protein isolates real food 🙁

Wowza that looks like a fantastic breakfast ! such a cute setting as well.
I never think to put chia seeds in my cold cereal..always think of it as an oatmeal thing. Thanks !
Taryn says
You should try shredded wheats, Kashi berry blossoms, and Kashi go lean crunch with banana on top. Best combo ever!!
Joss says
Yummy breakfast as always. I love the beautiful colors in your furniture set 🙂
Lexi @ Cura Personalis Foodie says
I agree–one bowl of cereal is an impossibility!
Fran@ Broken Cookies Don't Count says
Cute idea to use the cushion for photos!
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
Yes cereal is a dangerous thing for me because I have trouble stopping at just one bowl. It IS so good and that bowl looks really good. Man..I want cereal! 😉
