Something about these photos screams the 80s – neon socks, neon windbreakers, neon slap bracelets.
I had plans for pancakes this morning, but I woke up 15 minutes too late and have to be on my way in just a few.
Cereal it was!
Luckily I’ve had wheat waffles and morning o’s in the house – love both of them. Out of wheat waffles now. I have to decide if I want more or a different flavor! Some Quaker Oatmeal Squares would be divine.
In the bowl:
- wheat waffles
- morning o’s
- berries
- banana
- chias
- coconut
- almond butter
Have a crunchy day!

I took a break from my fabulous tofu scrambles, and I made blueberry protein pancakes this morning. They were okay, I did not use my normal recipe. Your breakfast looks more exciting. I did miss my tofu eggs and veggies.
Have a great day!
Liz @ Tip Top Shape says
Ha, the decor does look a bit vintage! But..the cereal still looks delicious 😀
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
Very bright morning! Are wheat waffles some kind of cereal I’ve never heard of, or did you just break up actual waffles?

Ooh those match your new light over the table! Slap bracelets. Sigh. I noticed slap watches are becoming popular. I see bruised wristbones in the future of many a tween!
Shana says
Love slap bracelets! They need to make a comeback!
Molly @ RDexposed says
Dang those slap bracelets hurt! Why’d we love them so much? I’d rather go for neon breakfasts.
Dee says
Wow, this looks like a really hearty cereal bowl. Do u find that adding in fruits and such to cereal keeps you full longer? I usually need two bowls to fill me up and even then I find I’m hungry an hour later. :/
KathEats says
Definitely – plus some fat too!
Sarah@The Flying ONION says
I have been so into cereal lately! Your breakfast looks splendid. 😀
Diana says

I have unsweetened that Matt gets in bulk at the bakery. It’s similar to the unsweetened in the whole foods bulk bins.
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
Haha – I wish slap bracelets would make a comeback. They actually banned them at my elementary school. Something about an eye getting poked out… 😉
Hannah @ eat, drink, and save money says
Those berries look great!
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
I love bright colours!! I’ve got 3 bright yellow, blue, and green bowls from Crate & Barrel and they definitely brighten up breakfasts. Slap bracelets.. don’t even get me started! I had TONS of them when I was a kid!
Emily @ The Swallow Flies says
Good thing the 80s are coming back in style! I’m personally digging the hot pink, orange, and green t-shirts that Gap’s been rockin’ lately!
Life's a Bowl says
I’ve been thoroughly enjoying peanut butter wafflewiches lately [the past two mornings actually haha] but the idea of breaking the waffles up into a yogurt bowl is an awesome idea! I picked up a box of the Kashi blueberry frozen waffles and think they’re awesome 😀 And you can never go wrong with any of the Vans waffles…
Rebecca @ Naturally Healthy and Gorgeous says
Those berries are so plump and delicious looking!
Kate says
I eat Quaker Oat Squares every morning..never a bad choice! I would recommend trying the new honey nut flavor- tastes sweeter than the original brown sugar but the sugar content is the same!

Kati Mora, MS, RD, Kellogg's FiberPlus(R) Wellness Advocate says
As you already know, I LOVE cereal! By far my favorite way to start the day. Although I think a neon green bowl might just take my regular bowl of Kellogg’s FiberPlus(R) Cinnamon Oat Crunch to the next level. Who loves the ’80s? I do! 🙂
Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga says
Neon and vibrant colors wake me up, which is a good thing this morning 🙂
the Blackberries look delish!
Suz says
Kath–Do you buy organic berries? I know I am so torn when shopping for my son. I want to stick with organic berries, but he eats them so quickly that the price is a tad painful. What are your thoughts on this?
KathEats says
I try to. the only time I don’t is in the middle of the summer when you can get giant tubs of non-organic local berries for so cheap. I just can’t pay more for non-local organics then.
Karen says
Suz – In the winter I purchase frozen organic berries as they are less expensive while being every bit as nutritious as fresh. I find Trader Joes offers the most budget friendly line. You can just defrost a portion as desired!
jessica says
I don’t know if this concerns you but the quaker oat squares contains BHT….. We used to eat them up but then realized this. So no more for us until they change their ways.
KathEats says
hmmm yeah, that’s not very cool. But I imagine it’s a very very small amount
Tracy says
Whole Foods may have a better version of Quaker Oat Squares maybe? I know Barbara’s Bakery makes a cereal called Shredded Oats that are similar.
Lizzie says
Is there a difference between morning o’s and cheerios?
KathEats says
Just the box!

Those blackberries look so good! I had hopes to buy some at the grocery store today but couldn’t find them… 🙁
TeenyLittleSuperChef says
Oh yeah, snap bracelets are the bomb! I had probably 20 or 30 of those babies back in the day. Our elementary school actually had to ban them because they became such a distraction during classes and some kids were using them as weapons. I wish I had saved mine. I bet they’d be worth something someday.. or at least be useful if I ever ran out of manueverable metal.
