It sure was a pleasant night’s sleep in the humidity free house : ) But I did end up waking up at midnight wired again. I didn’t eat my almonds before bed! So I took a swig of juice and ate 10 almonds and thankfully was able to go back to sleep without any more interruptions….until this juicy nectarine tapped on my forehead!
Mixed up with greek yogurt, banana, blackberries, granola and chia seeds.
So fresh and so clean!
The Mrs @ Success Along the Weigh says
That is quite the trick with the almonds. I’m going to keep some on hand. The Mr will sometimes have bouts of not being able to turn off his brain and is up until 2am. I’m gonna see if that works for him or if it’s just a chick thing. 🙂
KathEats says
I know, I don’t understand their magic!
Allie@LiveLaughEat says
It doesn’t get much better than juicy peaches on a sizzling hot summer day. Well, maybe ice cold watermelon. Enjoy the heat and humidity. I know you love it 🙂
Molly @ RDexposed says
I’m ashamed to admit this…but I don’t think I’ve ever had a nectarine?!
KathEats says
Oh dear!! Remedy that stat!
Elisabeth says
Oh no! That’s my favorite fruit – go get one stat! 😉
Karen says
Oh, yeah, nectarines are more flavorful than (most store bought) peaches, and they are also terrific grilled!
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
Glad you got back to sleep! I can’t imagine what being prego does to your body’s normal rhythm!
Alison says
That sounds like such a refreshing breakfast!!
mary @ minutespermile says
love fruit in the summer. hope you manage to get some sound sleep soon 🙂
Khushboo Thadani says
Not pregnant but the last few nights, I’ve been waking up out of hunger in the middle of the night…a handful of almonds does the trick!
Alyssa (pb and oatmeal) says
Yum! I love fruit in the morning (and afternoon and evening…) 🙂
Jacqueline says
We’ve both been in nectarine moods lately! I made nectarine bread yesterday and posted about it today. I’m loving how ripe they are right now. Your bowl of breakfast looks delicious, as usual!!
kristen @ verbs and vignettes says
I am not doing a good job of remembering all the amazing fruits there are in the summer! what is wrong with me?
that nectarine looks beautiful. although, I’m a peach girl. it’s the only outside of anything that I like. I used to request the fuzz from my dad on the beach. :p
Katie says
Love the pears. Is it a placemat or a napkin and where did you get it? I think I may have to try the almond trick with my 6 1/2 year old daughter. She had almonds at Spanish club but I guess it wasn’t close enough to bed because she was up even later than usual with her little mind(and body) going a hundred miles an hour!
KathEats says
tea towel from Crate + Barrel!
Kelly says
I also love the pear towel! Too cute!
Caroline @ After Dinner Dance says
I’ve never put necatarines or peaches in my overnight oats or yogurt bowls – no idea why! I had some nice and cold overnight oats for breakfast today and because it was so hot, I decided to have a little homemade cake batter frozen yogurt on the side – a great start to summer!
Grace @ Grace Dishes says
Fruit in a bowl is one of my favorite desserts to have nowadays. Looks beautiful and yummy!
Rebecca @ Blueberry Smiles says
Such acute pear placemat!
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
Ooo that breakfast looks colorful and so good! I need more fresh fruit!
Susan H. @ The Food Allergy Chronicles says
Love how you have your breakfast sectioned in their own little ‘quads’! I just love the added crunch that chia seeds offer to my breakfast medley! Another hot one on the way…are you ready? Got my iced tea ready to go with another batch brewing!
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
I can’t wait to get some fresh plums or apricots at the Farmers Market – I haven’t had any yet this season but your nectarines reminded me!
Lily O'Dare @ Candied-Lilfe says
love this combo, and that square bowl!!
JennF says
LOVE that pear cloth, so cute!!
Cait's Plate says

Ohhhhh, how I love that hand towel! Too cute!
Angel7 says
I love nectarines! I do not buy nectarines much, but should put them on my grocery list more often.

A nectarine fell on your head while you were sleeping?!? Better have a talk about that with Matt!
😉 I am punchy this am due to my lack of sleep. My baby decided last night for 1.5-2 hour intervals of sleep instead of his newly found routine of 2.5-3!
Jamie @ StudioEats says
I love that tea towel! So pretty!
Tracy says
I admire your ability to keep your AC off as long as possible. I could not do that…I grew up in SC and my first “big word” when I was little was “air conditioner”. I would have to move somewhere WAY north if I couldn’t use AC when I needed it. I wake up and can’t go back to sleep if it’s too warm.
Annette @FitnessPerks says
Mmm nectarines! Must buy some soon!
Liz @ Tip Top Shape says
I just bought some nectarines from the grocery store and they were nice and ripe. They just might be my favorite summer fruit!
Andrea says
That bowl of deliciousness looks.. delicious! I bought a few nectarines and plums yesterday. Those are definately fruits that I only buy in season, so when I do buy them for the first time in the summer, it’s magical! Haha! Have a great day 🙂
Averie @ Averie Cooks says
summer in a bowl right there! I love perfect nectarines!
daphna says
Hi! What store-bought granola is your favorite? I was buying Nature’s Path but recently noticed it has soy oil in it. Thanks!
KathEats says
I was going to say Nature’s Path 🙂 Or anything bulk bin
Jordan says
Although a little pricey, I found that KIND (of KIND bars) has an awesome new super-crunchy granola in at least 4 flavors. It’s gluten free and has 5g of protein per serving. It does have some soy products in it (though not soy oil), but it has a really short ingredient list with no weird additives. So far I’ve tried Peanut Butter Whole Grain Clusters, which is not overpoweringly nutty and has some whole peanuts in it.
Diane says
Funny, I had almost the same thing for my breakfast, except peach instead of nectarine and blueberries instead of blackberries. I had some honey drizzled on mine too. I so wish I had known about this almond trick when I was pregnant.
Angela @ Happy Fit Mama says
Nectarines are the best when they are so ripe the flesh just falls off the pit. Yummmmm!
Elizabeth says
YUM! We had a couple of ripe nectarines so I made two bowls of greek yogurt drizzled with honey, topped with chopped nectarines and some almonds. SO good. Husband and I have eggs almost every morning and this was a nice change of pace.
Ashley @ Hudson on the Potomac says
Yum, I love nectarines! We used to pick them every summer when I was little!
Stephanie @ Legally Blinde says
Love that dish towel! So cute.
Anna Resman says
Where do you buy your chia seeds? In store or online? Thanks!
KathEats says
Chiaseedsdirect.com – I’m due for another order and looking at my last order history, it’s been a YEAR for me to go through 2#! (Put htem in the freezer in the meantime)
KathEats says
You can also get them in bulk bins, but they are more expensive
Amanda @ flecksofgreen says
What a yummy little mixture of goodies you made there! It all looks sweet, crunchy and refreshing…all in one!
Sarah @ Learning to Feed Yourself says
I am so jealous of all of the fruit you always have! I get nervous buying a lot of different kinds of fruit at once because I worry about it going bad.
The Healthy Apple says
LOVE these pictures; they caught my eye right away and I love ’em. Hope you are keeping cool in this heatwave.
