When KERF reader and UVA grad Molly emailed me about her company, NatureBox, this spring, she opened the door (box?) to all kinds of new snack flavors. NatureBox is a subscription service that offers the ability to discover and enjoy healthy snacks on a monthly basis. Their products are made from wholesome ingredients and abide by strict quality standards: No high fructose corn syrup, no partially hydrogenated oils, no trans fats, no artificial sweeteners, no artificial flavors, no artificial colors. The first box is packed with a surprise selection of the most popular products and you get to choose your snacks for subsequent boxes.
I think this would make a wonderful gift for a college-bound friend or new mom! Or a great way to stock your appetizer table if you’re having a party or lots of guests in town.
There are different sizes for different budgets too:
NatureBox is available in 3 sizes, at 3 different price points: Savvy Snacker (5 bags for $19.95), Family Snacker (10 bags for $29.95) and Professional Snacker (20 bags for $59.95). Your monthly box always ships free (except to Hawaii & Alaska- we have a $1.97 shipping fee to those 2 to ensure a more timely delivery.) Each bag has 3-5 servings of that snack within it.
You can find nutrition labels and ingredient lists for previous NatureBox packages on the website.
Matt and each were offered a box since we have different snacking preferences. Not surprisingly, mine was more on the sweet side with granolas and bars and his was a savory mix of nuts, seeds and trail mix.
Matt liked all of his mixes – especially the Chipotle Maple Almonds which we loved over salads.
Southern BBQ Sunflower Kernels – Nice n spicy!
Taj Mahal Snack Mix – chewy and crunchy at the same time (texture!) and loved the hint of curry
Lemon Pucker Pistachios – an interesting flavor combo but it worked really well!
Chipotle Maple Almonds – classic, crunchy, sweet n smoky
Garden Tomato Crunchies – Really fun – like BBQ chips meet almonds
Lone Star Snack Mix {bonus} – Loved the little flax chips in this one! I ate them all out first.
Vanilla Macaroon Granola – Loved this!! Reminded me of Nature’s Path’s vanilla granolas – light and airy and loads of vanilla and coconut flavor.
Cranberry Almond Bites – A cross between granola and a granola bar, these little cubes were a great pre-dinner snack when you just need a bite of something to tide you over.
Lemon Meringue Waffles – Loved these ice-cream-cone-esque wafers. Lots of lemony flavor and great dipped into Greek yogurt.
Whole Wheat Raspberry Figgy Bars – Like a raspberry fig newton. Whole wheat’s a plus!
Peanut Butter Nom Noms – These plump cookies reminded me of Mama Pea’s dough balls – almost like a granola bar in the shape of a cookie
Some of the ingredient lists are better than others, but there aren’t any real duds here. NatureBox would be ideal if you have hungry teenagers to feed or get bored of your same old bulk bin options. And as I said above, I think it’s perfect as a gift subscription for those who would love a little extra to munch on around.
A giveaway!! Enter this Rafflecopter giveaway for a chance to win a 3-month subscription 🙂
And finally, here is a promo code which will give you guys $10 off your first box of any size in a month-to-month subscription (which can be canceled at any time)! You can click here to have the code automatically fill in or type in KERF10 at checkout. Good for the next 2 weeks.

I LOVE my NatureBox and find that most of the treats make a great addition to a salad.

Ahhh all of these sound delicious, the Lemon Meringue Waffles in particular. I love all of these boxed-food companies popping up; they’re great ways to discover new foods. I also love NatureBox’s commitment to minimally processed foods!

It looks pretty healthy and seems very appetizing, but not for long period of time. I don’t think I would be able to continue to eat those food in a long period of time and probably crash and eat a bunch of junk food.

These boxes sound really interesting, and I would love to try them. Do you know if you can order them as a “one time only” thing? I don’t think I’d have the money to get a box every month.
KathEats says
I think you can, yes – at least you can cancel at any time
Amy says
I did this for a month or two. I would have kept doing it if they had a soy free option, but they didn’t. Neat concept though.

Hi Kath, just want to let you know that your KERF app is not updating on time. It’s showing your post for one week ago and does not show the newer ones, like the one from today or the weekend. Hope all is well!
KathEats says
Yes, unfortunately the company who ran it (Blog Rocket) is no longer operating. So sad!! I need to find another app provider.
Laura says
I would absolutely go for the sweet ones like you! Those peanut butter nom noms look AMAZING!

Thank you! I’m trying to order the 3 month option as Father’s Day gift but the KERF10 is not working. Should it apply to this purchase option? BTW Maze is looking healthy and happy, congrats, it’s hard! 🙂
KathEats says
Checking on this for you : (
KathEats says
The code is only valid on month-to-month subscriptions (which can be cancelled anytime after the 1st box), but unfortunately, promo codes aren’t valid on any pre-paid gift boxes. So sorry for not clarifying that sooner!
Laura says
I’ve been getting NatureBox for a few months now and enjoy it. My only issue is I’m still forced to get the Discovery box every month and they are not yet offering the option to pick what you want-I’m not sure how you were able to pick and I can’t! I was actutally going to cancel this month due to not being able to pick out my snacks but I couldn’t figure out how to cancel from the website. This is the message on my account about picking your own snacks:
Exciting changes are coming! We are currently testing out the ability to personalize your NatureBox. We are rolling this feature out over the next few weeks, please stay tuned to see when your account is activated!
That message has been there for about 3 months now! So frustrating!!
KathEats says
Maybe it’s a glitch! ? Have you tried customer service? I’m prettysure the ability to pick is live. I’ll ask
Alex says
Did you hear anymore on this?
KathEats says
I’m waiting to hear back
Molly @ NatureBox says
Hi Laura!
Thanks so much for being such a long-time member of NatureBox! I’m so sorry to hear that your account hasn’t automatically updated so you can choose your snacks- sounds like a glitch 🙁
If you shoot our Customer Care Team a quick email ([email protected]), we can get you set up right away so you can start choosing. Or, feel free to reach out to me directly ([email protected]) and I’d be happy to help you out.
Be well,
Molly @ NatureBox

I have a minor OBSESSION with granola and healthy, non-processed foods! In love with this box; I see a subscription in my future!

Looks yummy!
Liv says
I received my first NatureBox discovery box last month and was super disappointed. Being someone who eats only real food, it is sometimes hard to find healthy, nutritious, snacks that aren’t overly-processed, so I was really excited to hear about NatureBox. My first box contained 5 different snacks, and I couldn’t have been more unhappy about them. 4 of the 5 snacks contained white flour — not something I would consider nutritious or healthy at all. Lots of them had ingredients that I would not expect from a company who claims to be natural and healthy, including MSG (in the form of autolyzed yeast extract)!!! Not sure how this qualifies as a wholesome ingredient with strict quality standards…
CaitlinHTP says
all these products look great. i love granola!
Crystal M says
Ohh goodness, I received my first naturebox yesterday… I am SO glad I didn’t receive anyy of that stuff or would’ve been so disappointed…. Somehow they pleased me very well, and without knowing a thing about me(guess I got veryy lucky). I wanted to post about what I got in my first surprise box, French toast granola!, granny smith apples(dried), pistachio power clusters(unsure of these), baked sweet potatoe fries, &&(last and certainly not least) honeycomb sunflower kernels!! Yep they got me good (=
Ordered because FB had a post from them with 50% off first month so I thought why not, glad I tried it even if I don’t stick around!! (=
Adrian says
Does a box of 5 actually last a month? I’m just wondering if I should go for the 5 bag option or 10 bag option. thanks
Octavia B says
The Cranberry Almond Bites sound delish. The Nature Box is one of my favorite subscription snack boxes. So many opportunities to mix-n-match, and at a great price.
