Some life lately with my loves!
My Little Loves
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Just a couple professional pics of my little loves because in reality….
….this is what our real life looks like!
We’ve been starting to play all the card games with Birch! Uno, Go Fish, Old Maid. If you don’t have the little hands card holder, it’s a must!
Hogwaller Brewing
We’ve had a few really warm nice days this month, and we were even able to eat outside! We tried out the new Hogwaller Brewing down by the Rivanna River. Took Go Fish with us and enjoyed some beers and burgers – and a giant pretzel for Birch : )
Ninja Rope
Speaking of nice weather, we’ve had a hammock swing under this tree for a long time now and just switched it to a ninja rope that the boys got for Christmas. Birch likes to swing on it, and Mazen has officially climbed to the top! It’s so hard on the hands. I need some weight lifting gloves to give it a true test. It’s harder than it looks.
Date Night with The Hoos
Thomas and I got to go to our first UVA game as a couple recently. We ate dinner at home, but then went to the Birch and Bloom bar for a drink before the game. I am obsessed with the Hazel Fashioned they make! It’s an old fashioned with a touch of hazelnut and coconut dusted ice.
And who are we kidding – I only go to basketball games for the ice cream! Actually it’s Thomas who started this ritual. Every single game he goes to he gets a Ben & Jerry’s just after halftime. I was joking with him that the people who sit by our regular seats probably know him as “ice cream guy” and make bets on when he will come back with a cone and guess what flavors he got this time. If you’re wondering, Caramel Blondie and Cookie Dough!
And speaking of blondies…..this Turtle Bar I brought home from Great Harvest (on a different day) OMG was it so good!
Tea Bazaar
You know what I like as much as turtle bars? Good salads! It’s true. I went to Tea Bazaar for lunch with some friends from the gym, and I can’t believe I forgot how good this smoked salmon salad is! Plus their moroccan mint tea.
90s Night
More friends from the gym and I went to see the 90s cover band Brisk play at Pro Re Nata! It was such a great show!
We made this a whole event with costumes and a themed party before. I hosted a 90s name that tune. My outfit was more sporty / preppy / scrunchie 90s with my Bayside one-shoulder T-shirt that makes an appearance every few years. I also had light up scrunchies that were so fun I’ll be wearing them to every decade party! And this fanny pack that I got clear so I could also wear it to clear-bag concerts.
I also had tattoos!
Super fun times! Highlights were when they played Zombie and all the songs Chris plays in our workouts every week. It was a massive sing-along!
The Village
The next theme night I am planning is a screening of the movie The Village. I bought a costume inspired by Those We Do Not Speak Of. If you know, you know!
Cloak + claws. I’ll likely be wearing this for Halloween this year too. Birch is terrified of the hands, but I put this costume on and hid in Mazen’s room and he did not flinch haha. Watch that here!!
I’m glad to have found some people who love themed nights as much as I do!
New Finds
Some new NA finds! I was sucked into an ad by the online shop Zero Proof and bought some new NA drinks. And I will report back on how they all are!
I did find the Old Fashioned to be fantastic! It lacks the burn of true bourbon, but the flavor was all there. I was impressed!
Sipping it with some Shrimp Scampi and salad for dinner.
Still loving the Trail Magic drinks too! I think my favorite is the Berry Basil, but this one is good too. I can’t do a whole can – just half is great for me!
Winter soccer season is almost over. This season was a bit difficult because the games were all after 8pm which was just SO late! And our team, who is mostly near or over 40, didn’t do so hot next to some of these youngins. Hoping this spring season is a bit better.
LOL at Birch being attached to me at all times.
Beautycounter has a few new products to check out!
- These new tinted lip balms
- New long-wear lip liners
- A new Monoi scented body butter that is soooooo delicious smelling I put it on multiple times a day!
I hope you have a wonderful rest of your V-day!

I am a huge wimp and will not watch anything scary. My husband wanted me to watch The Village (10 years ago) because he doesn’t consider it scary and I did, but it freaked me out, especially the scene when she leaves and is in the woods. I had to shut my eyes and cover my ears. I would go nuts if that costume was in the house haha.

Hahaha!! It IS very scary! The woods scene is terrifying.

Haha that’s because people over 40 go to bed at 8pm! Lol. Oh my your handsome boys are growing like weeds!
