Getting up was easy today – perhaps because I wasn’t cold? I always seem to get up more quickly when I wake up hot. Matt, however, decided to take today off. He usually goes with me on Mondays to get his body clock back to 4am wake-ups, but today he was sore, so he skipped. I told him he should still wake up for the body clock and was surprised when I got home to find laundry going, the dishwasher empty and a verbal progress report on the finishing touches on our taxes all done before 7am! Go Kanzi!
We’ve got a ton of cereal on hand, so we’re putting that in priority mode again.
Today I had Nature’s Path Pumpkin Raisin Crunch (there’s not really much crunch in there 🙁 ) with strawberries, walnuts, vanilla soy milk and a tbsp of PB2. I love the PB2 in cereal! I dissolves like regular PB couldn’t. We were out of bananas so I’m having double strawberries today 🙁
The bad part was that I heated 1 cup of soy milk with the strawberries and it was too much milk and made the cereal all soggy. This was no Optimum Slim 🙁
Chandelier Spring Blend
We don’t have Food Science today, but I’ve still got my other two so I’m hoping to get a lot of studying finished in-between.

Have a great Monday – with no mush!

Happy Monday Kath!
And kudoos to Matt for doing the chores bright and early
Mel says
I love your spider mums! They totally make the picture!
PB2 and cereal sounds really good, except I still haven’t been able to find it!
Maureen says
Sorry about the soy milk mess, but at least more soy milk = more protein and calcium. Mmmm… I really want some PB2!
rhodeygirl says
great article on gather kath! i am LOVING these!
I think that I would personally add to the list “journal it out”… writing down WHY I am stressed out usually helps relieve it a bit. a good cry too haaha. and i would agree that making a to do list to keep it all organized and out of your head definitely helps!
Nicole says
Those are some really beautiful flowers on your table! Good luck with all the studying 🙂
Maureen says
Kath, I’m looking for a website that you once posted–it allows you to log all your grocery purchases and thus see where your grocery money is going. I can’t find it though, can you repost it?
Beadie @ What I Ate Yesterday says
Mushy cereal is the worst!! Right now, I am really loving the 9 whole grain crunch with flax seed and almonds from Trader Joe’s, it has super crunch!
Have a great Monday!
Jenny says
oh I never thought to put my PB2 in cereal, genius!
Have a good day =)

That’s the thing with cereal… you have to eat it right away before it get all mushy 🙂

Hey Kath! So this morning I also had a dry cereal breakfast. I found an interesting way to make it. It’s a happy medium between dry cereal and oatmeal. It was delicious.
Here’s the link to what I did:

Too bad about the sogginess 🙁 Tomorrow will be a better breakfast day, I know it!!

Hey Kath, I’ve been following your site for a while (luv the info and ideas), but this is my first time posting. I see that you’re trying the PB2. I’ve been hooked on the stuff for a while. Just an idea to share with you – What I find really good is mixing some in with TJ’s Greek yogurt. I add a little natural sweetener to the mix ,and I sometimes add granola or All Bran Buds (for a little texture). I’ve also added a small pinch of cocoa powder to it – a rough take on a Reese’s PB cup! Anyway, hope you give is shot. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it. Have a great day!
Mara @ What's For Dinner? says
Can Matt come and teach my fiance how to wisely use free time by cleaning??? “I cook, you clean” is way too difficult in our house!
Thanks for the suggestion about the Fresh Market Spring Blend! I bought some on Friday, and I’ve averaged 2 cups a day since then!!! AMAZING!
zestycook says
Go Matt!! Ceral looks great. Hope you have a great day Kath!
zest!
Kristin @ Iowa Girl Eats says
What a great husband – chores done and you didn’t even have to ask? Keeper! We’re all out of bananas too…hate when that happens…
Leah @ Simply Fabulous says
Sorry breakfast was mushy! I don’t ALWAYS mind mush but Weetabix gets real mushy, even like 1 minute after you put the milk in!
Really like the article you wrote on stress… I especially love the ‘make time for yourself’ tip.. I find this HELPS leaps and bounds to reduce stress. Yesterday when I went running I kept thinking to myself, “this run is for me”… I enjoyed it so much more when I reminded myself that it was “me” time rather than just “burn calorie time.” You know?
Foodie (Fab and Delicious Food) says
Have a great day!

I got up early this morning too- and it was definitely because I was warm.
I’ve always been wary of pb2, but you’re making me want to try it!
K says
Oh PB2, I think I need to get some of that in my life asap! There are some amazing creations going on through all of the blogs!
Great stress tips!
Sarah (Tales of Expansion) says
haha, i’ll take your mushy cereal — i love mush! i’m like a 92-year-old man.
my favorite part about pb2 is the versatility. i prefer regular pb for normal pb use of course, but the pb2 can go anywhere. peanut milk, yum!
brandi says
looks like you had a great weekend! I haven’t tried PB2 in cereal yet, but that is a good idea. I love it in smoothies.
Whitney says
Cutting the taxes a little close there aren’t ya ;-P

What a bummer! It looks yummy though! Love the spring-y flowers on the table. Very pretty!

Good luck with your studying 🙂

Sorry to hear about the disappointing cereal this morning. The PB2 in the cereal is a great idea though!
Love the place setting on the table btw! SO spring-like and pretty!
Angie says
Sorry your Monday started mushy!
PB2 in cereal sounds great, though, I’ll have to give it a try!
Shannon (The Daily Balance) says
sorry about the morning mush!
I will definitely be adding PB2 to my cereal, great idea! 😉
polly says
Hi Kath! That is so funny, I actually asked today on my blog if your monday was mushy??? Then I read this! 😉 Hoping it gets much less mushy as the day goes by! XOXO
Sarah (lovINmytummy) says
Ugh, I hate mushy cereal. My mom used to make me eat raisin bran when I was little to resolve “issues” and I hated it. So I’d just sit there and not eat it for like 30 minutes, until it was all warm and soggy, and she’d make me take two bites before I could get up. I felt better when I was constipated.
I’m pretty sure this is the first time THAT word has been on your blog. Happy to contribute 😉
Kailey (SnackFace) says
Shoot, now I simply must get PB2 to put in my cereal! P.B. flavor with every bite? Yes, please!
I love all fruits, but I totally understand missing a banana at breakfast. It is the best breakfast fruit! So soft, sweet, comforting.
Hope you have a lovely start to the week 🙂
Michelle Hisae says
Strawberries are tasting so good lately! As with blueberries. Oh how I love the fruits of Spring.
Soggy cereal stinnkkkss. Try Trader Joe’s Fiber Os. They stay crunchy until the last bite!
Run Sarah says
Love the mums! And your big strawberry chunks, yum.
Jess says
It is SO much easier to get up when it isn’t cold.
Sarah says
I have some PB2 sitting in my cabinet gathering dust- I never thought to try it in my cereal- will have to do that! Thanks for the idea!
Shelby says
Yeah, it’s much easier to wake up when it’s hot because when it’s cold you don’t want to get out of your snuggly bed!
Yay for using PB2 in cereal!!! I love it! It makes it so thick and creamy.
Sorry about the soggy cereal, I’m not a huge fan of that flavor either. I much prefer the Red Berry and there is a new one Maple Pecan that I’ve had my eye on!
Michelle says
awww I loved that last post with the Peep on the fork! SO cute!!! Wow, I haven’t seen Kath eat cereal in a while!!! I love the added strawberries in the cereal. It just makes everything look so EXTRA awesome. 😛 Can’t wait for spring to come HERE in chicago!!!
Kath says
rhodeygirl ,
Thanks 🙂
Maureen ,
I think you mean Mint.com? A finance tracking site I use? Or perhaps SpringPad.com where you can plan means, but it’s not connected to your bank account.
Nancy ,
Thanks for your comment and idea!
Mara @ What’s For Dinner?,
Yay! So glad you like it. It’s my second favorite coffee – the first being Dilworth Coffee’s Butterscotch Toffee!
Whitney ,
Yes, but we had to wait to see if there were any last minute investment changes!! I hate that they can make you wait like that because you know I am not a procrastinator! I used to want to do my taxes on January 1st and was so mad when I couldn’t.
Nicole ,
Thanks! Love kale, obviously 🙂
lyss ,
Thanks! Not a nerd at all!

Sorry about the mush. The powdered peanut butter sounds interesting.

Hi Kath, my sister just bought the same cereal last night so I’m interested in trying it. Aside from the sogginess was it okay?
Thanks!

Yeah, it tasted good. Not enough crunch though! I preferred Optimum Slim.
