I took a day off of yoga this morning – and went straight for the oats
Well, actually, I went straight for the multigrain cereal. I bought this in bulk from EarthFare a while back and need to use it up. I think there are over 7 kinds of grain in there. I see oats and millet for sure.I also decided to break open another one of my ProBars – the SuperFood Slam. I love that it’s green!! I’m not sure of all the superfoods in here, but there were definitely flax seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds, dark chocolate chips, and dried fruit. It was very good! Very chewy. I used about 1/5 of the bar on my oats. A little goes a long way with these.
The mix:
- 1/3 cup multigrain cereal, 1/2 cup water, 1/3 cup 1% milk, pinch salt, 1 medium ripe banana
- 1 tbsp raisins
- 1/5 crumbled ProBar
- Spoonful Smucker’s Natural
More filling than I thought it’d be –
I also had some Dark Roast Yerba Mate tea. I had to add a little milk + sugar to it because it was so dark and bitter.
It’s a MIRACLE!!! The skies are blue!!! I don’t think we’ve had a sunny day since I came home from Bald Head. I wouldn’t have taken this photo because I had already sat down to blog when I looked outside and remembered, but the Eye-Fi is so darn easy, that I took the photo and it was waiting for me before I sat down!!
Hope you’re all doing the Finally Friday dance

Hi Kath,
I have a question about BMI ranges. I’m a 19-year-old college freshman, and due to my struggle with eating disorders, my weight has been up and down for the last 6 years. I’m 5’6″ and currently about 150-155 pounds. This number is at the very top of the healthy BMI range for my height, but I think this is where I feel healthiest. I’m not 100% happy with the way I look (then again, who is?), but I feel strong and fit. My question is, is it ok to be this far up on my healthy BMI range, or would I be better off at a slightly lower weight? I realize this question may be too specific to answer, but in general, how do you gauge where you should be within your healthy BMI range? Thank you!

doing my dance right now.

That Pro Bar looks so great! And we have some sun here as well, it’s decieving because it looks so warm out, but as soon as you step outside the wind hits you and you’re reminded it’s winter.
Happy Friday!

I just tried your basic oatmeal recipe for the first time this morning and I LOVED it. I’m use to making it in the microwave to save time. But I think YOU have made me a convert. I just love how the banana melted into the oatmeal. You’re a genius.

Christy ,
I used Gmail’s emoticons. It was a test to see if WordPress would take them – and it did!! Now I can branch out from only using 🙂

Jennifer says
PB&J- I would try not to overthink too much. I’m in nearly the same boat as you. I’m 5’4″ and about 130 and all the mags, entertainment and yes, many people I meet seem to weight in the 115-120 range for 5’4″. But I LOOK and FEEL better at this weight. When I was 119, I was too think! Every body is different, so I wouldn’t consider the BMI’s the be all and end all.
Jennifer says
gorge sky here too… but man it is COLD out
PB&J says
Hey Kath,
Just wondering if you have an answer to my question (comment #27). I noticed in your last answer section that you wrote down my screen name but then didn’t leave an answer. Sorry to bother you! Thanks 🙂
Kath says
PB&J,
Hey! I totally had a response for you – where’d it go!?
My response was that if you’re in the healthy range, you’re in the healthy range! Your body frame and muscle mass will probably dictate where within the range you fall, but I wouldn’t worry (esp. if YOU feel comfortable where you are) about the specifics. Perhaps your doctor could give a specific response based on your stats.

Whitney says
How do you make your oats? I am assuming that this is warm oatmeal but you called it cereal?
I love steel cut oatmeal but I didn’t know if you had a different variety that you like as well.
Love you blog!
Whitney says
And….I totally just found your “tribute to oatmeal”…I bet my question can be answered here 😛
