“Gonna eat a lot of nectarinessssss”
Simple whipped banana oatmeal with mixed-in blackberries and topped with nectarine and sunflower butter.
Some of the tartest (is that a word?) blackberries I’ve ever tasted!
Nature’s candy in my hand..or pie…or oatmeal!
Allie@LiveLaughEat says
That’s some chunky sunflower butter. Wish mine was like that!

It’s the end of the jar – I hate it!
Ruby @ Focus, Woman! says
Oh yeah, nectarines & peaches were totally my pregnancy cravings! But I had them in the dead of winter. Took ages before I could finally indulge! It sure looks like a very, VERY tasty bowl of oatmeal.
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
Ah! The Presidents of the United States of America! I used to LOVE that song. 🙂
I’m all over the peaches this mornings too – peach cobbler chia pudding is my breakfast of choice. With Sarah’s Nutty Butter. 🙂
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
Again, I need some fresh fruit!!! Yours looks amazing! Haha I had to use frozen peaches in my oats because I’m out Of everything
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope says

The Mrs @ Success Along the Weigh says
Ooh you’re right, it does look like pie! Or at least a dang good cobbler!
Christina says
This has nothing to do with your post but I finally did the “magic shell” coconut butter on a smoothie. So fun!

Looks so good and refreshing. Great way to start a Friday 🙂
Katie says
I had some extra tart blackberries recently. The problem I’ve been having with them lately is they are firm in the store, but quickly turn to mush. So disappointing! There are plenty of other fruits to enjoy this time of year though. I’ve been enjoying peaches and nectarines, but they should be really good pretty soon. Enjoy your Friday!
Laura says
ahh, looks like a heavenly bowl of oats! I think the correct phrase would be “most tart”. sorry, i’m an english teacher 🙂
KathEats says
Hahah – I should have known. I like to add -ist to everything!
Rachel says
Tartest is a word! It is the superlative of the adjective tart, so “the tartest blackberries” does work.
Sincerely,

Typically if the word is longer than one syllable you would use “more” and “most” like in more beautiful, most beautiful. If the word is one syllable then you can add the –est (or the er). Sweet is a good example. Sweet, sweeter, sweetest.

I’ve only had a couple white-flesh nectarines so far this summer. I gotta get myself some good yellow ones!
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
That looks gorgeous! As soon as I saw the post title in my reader, that song immediately came into my head. I just had a pint of blackberries that was supppppper tart as well. I mashed some and added them to balsamic vinegar, then reduced them on the stove and served them over chicken… (the recipe is here if you’re interested: http://eat-spin-run-repeat.com/recipes-2/?recipe_id=6026706). It was divine!! Have an awesome day Kath! 🙂

Nectarines and berries are such a delicious combination! My favourite combo is nectarines/peaches with raspberries…yummy!
Jordan @ Bake Write Sleep says
I forgot about that song! (Peaches!) Thanks for the awesome flashback ;]
Hanna says
Oh shoot, now I’ll have that song in my head all morning! Good thing it’s a great song!
Emily @Emily's Olives says
Blackberries! That’s what I am missing in my life right now! Your post reminded me that berry season is upon us–most exciting time of the year!
Karen says
I’ve been having the worst luck w/store bought blackberries this year…such a delicate fruit – when they are super fresh/local, they are simply amazing, but they rarely hold up to distance transportation/storage. I hearby vow to buy blackberries only at the farmer’s market! 🙂
I am so ready to do the Friday dance today! 🙂 Have a beautiful one, Kath!
Lisa Langenfeld says
Looks like a delicious breakfast! We were out of food last night, so I made banana whipped oats with chia, sunwarrior, and coconut milk, with a side of egg whites. Not too bad for an empty fridge! Nectarines are my fav too 🙂 Have a great day!
Roxanne says
I actually like tart fruits and sweet fruits, some people like one or the other… so I wonder if it’s possible to be sweet gal and a sour puss one at the same time? LOL
Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning says
Haha- I played “Peaches” for one of my spin classes a few weeks ago and said “Some of you are going to be like ‘Oh hey! I remember this song!’ and the rest of you will be like ‘Uh.. What?!'”
And now it will be in my head all day long…
Hillary B says
Are your blackberries from the farmer’s market? My boss and I were just commenting this week or last they our farmer’s market blackberries were SO TART. Like almost hard to eat!!!
KathEats says
Yes!
Averie @ Averie Cooks says
You always have the best breakfasts!
Andrea says
This is such a silly question but do you sometimes use less liquid in your oats if you’re feeling like having them a lot thicker? I’m just curious because you sometimes have thick oats and sometimes more liquidy. I am a texture freak when it comes to my food.. love it! 🙂 Have a great day!
KathEats says
These were made by Matt!! I’m impressed you noticed a difference. He definitely uses less liquid than I do
Andrea says
Haha oh yes I always note the texture of oats!
Ashley @ Hudson on the Potomac says
I used to love that song!!! Those blackberries almost look like raspberries.
Angel7 says
