There are few things in life worth losing sleep over, but GOSSIP GIRL is one of them!! I set my alarm for 5:30 so I’d have enough time to watch Monday’s episode with my oatmeal. SO GOOD. I even predicted the unpredictable ending!
Breakfast was awesome – a chocolatey, crunchy, creamy Buddhalicious bowl of oats –
The Mix
- 1/4 cup quick oats
- 2 tbsp 10 Grain Hot Cereal
- 1/2 banana
- 3/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup vanilla hemp milk (which I have determined smells like a wet tea bag)
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- Pinch salt
- Sprinkle cinnamon
- Hidden Maranatha Dark Chocolate AB
- Hidden Naturally Nutty Vanilla Almond Butter
- Bob’s Red Mill Natural Granola
The missing piece in the puzzle of life –
But GROSS – we’re out of organic milk and the hemp milk curdled in my coffee. I still drank it because I hate to waste Spring Blend, but I hate the solids! I think I need to learn to just love coffee black like I learned to love it without sweetener.
I’m late, I’m late!!
Freya @ Brit Chick Runs says
AAH! My kinda person- gets up early to watch Gossip Girl!! I used to always do that when I was addicted to ER or Neighbours or Desperate Housewives 😛 plus, it’s wonderful to eat breakfast sp slowly 🙂
Have a great day!
Megan @ The Oatmeal Diaries says
How did I not know about the existence of DARK CHOCOLATE almond butter?! I bet that would blow DCD out of the water. Now I can’t wait to get my hands on some! Your oatmeal looks deee-lish =D
Beth @ Beth's Journey to Thin says
Haha that is awesome that you got up early enough to watch Gossip Girl with your delicious looking bowl of oats!! And curdled hemp milk! ick! I wonder if soy would curdle… I taught myself to like black coffee so I don’t use anything in it now if it’s decent coffee. Sometimes I add milk if the coffee on its own doesn’t taste that good.
M says
I knew that ending was coming, and to be honest, it was disappointing for me — it’s just too much hugely unrealistic drama that I don’t care about (give me Nate and Jenny! Give me Chuck and Blair! Keep the Ruf and whatshername mother out of it!).
I will watch it just the same because I’m obsessed.
Claire says
I can not believe that I haven’t watched more than the first episode this season, but the bf doesn’t have cable (and care to). I should just watch it on my computer if possible…you are making me jealous! The oats look delicious as usual lady! have a nice wednesday!
Kelly @ Local Foodie Fight says
…for a very important date??!
Rachel says
Hey Kath,
I’ve been enjoying your blog for a while, and am (finally) commenting. I also used to put milk and splenda in my coffee, but now drink it straight black. The thing that helped me the most was making it weaker in the beginning–made the black stuff go down much more easily. Just used less coffee/more water.
Kath says
I think I would need it SUPER strong!! My complaint with black coffee is that it’s not “thick” enough
Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg says
I’m ready for them to kill of Jenny– her hair is driving me CRAZY!!!!
Yummy breakfast 🙂
Kath says
AGREED!
Jessica @ How Sweet says
I love that you wake up early JUST to watch Gossip Girl. 🙂
Midgetkeeper says
Eww, curdled milk is the worse.
Marina says
A perfect breakast, yummy bowl of oats and gossip girl 🙂
I’m just watching it with my lunch 🙂
Diana says
I still haven’t watched the last episode, I’ve been watching Breaking Bad, which is SO GOOD.
Lauren @ eater not a runner says
Jealous of your outdoor pics, it’s freezing here!
Heather (Heather's Dish) says
wow, i’m impressed you drank it! i would have thrown the coffee out. those bowls are seriously adorable!
Karla says
I love Gossip Girl! I haven’t seen it in ages! I’m way behind! I would definitely lose sleep over it too 🙂
Estela @ Weekly Bite says
I don’t know why, but I just can’t watch anything other than the news in the early morning hours. Silly… I know….
Have a great day 🙂
Erin (Travel, Eat, Repeat) says
We just started buying local milk (from Ohio, but still within 100 miles apparently) and it tastes SO much better than any conventional milk I’ve ever had. I don’t know if it’s because the cows are grass-fed or what, but the milk tastes naturally sweet. It’s amazing!
Jenny says
I’ve been missing GG lately- i’ve gotta get back to watching it!
Wei-Wei says
Haha believe it or not I’m not a big fan of Gossip Girl… 😛 Don’t kill me! A lot of my classmates are quite incredulous that I don’t watch TV… teehee! 😉
I was just wondering – what happens when you really are late and don’t have time to post? Would you rather be late and post on time or would you rather skip that post? Sometimes unexpected things do come up, and especially with blogging I was just wondering how unexpected obstacles affect your blogging schedule? Thanks!
Wei-Wei
Kath says
I don’t think I’ve ever really been late? But if so, I’d just post photos and leave
Food Makes Fun Fuel says
Hehe, you sound like the rabbit from Alice In Wonderland at the end
Katherine says
Some things, like your favorite TV show, are totally worth getting up early for. Funny I seem to have much more trouble getting in a morning workout!
I’ve had the same problem with almond milk and I’ve just accepted that I’ll need soy or regular milk if I’m not going to have my coffee black.
Jo says
I’m with you on GG – its my FAVOURITE program! I am so glad that you don’t give any hints as to what happens as we are behind you in the UK so I don’t want to know what happens!!!
So don’t EVER give away any of the plot! Pretty please!
Kath says
I never will!!
Lisa C. says
If Gossip Girl isn’t worth being late for work, I don’t know what is!
Those oats look amazing!
Julie @ Wearing Mascara says
That’s a pretty brilliant idea to watch GG over morning oatmeal 🙂 I may have to try that!
Heather @ Side of Sneakers says
I hate how milk “substitutes” never blend into coffee the same as regular old milk. I’ve been using the So Delicious coconut creamer- it seems to blend in pretty well but I haven’t decided whether it tastes any different than black coffee haha
rustique says
Those Buddha bowls are gorgeous!
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
YUM! Tasty combo for today! Have a great day!
Sarah says
I find that as long as the coffee is GOOD (and preferably fair trade and organic) , then it is actually pretty enjoyable to drink it black. It seems like you drink good coffee, so maybe you would like your coffee black?
Veggielady4life says
I’m so weird about TV shows. I like to wait until the WHOLE season has finished, then buy the DVDS or get them from netflix… and watch the shows in marathon sessions. I am super excited about this season of Gossip Girl though. I love that show!!! I read that Chace Crawford backed out of doing the remake of Footloose… not sure who will take his spot. I’m kinda glad, though… I like thinking of him as Nate… not a musical kinda guy… 🙂
Your oats look ‘elicious! Hope you have a wonderful day!
Jessica @ The Process of Healing says
I seriously need to get some of the Spring Blend, it’s my favorite!!
shannon (the daily balance) says

Melissa @ For the Love of Health says

Paige(Running Around Normal) says
I have to get catching up on my Gossip Girl! I watched Glee last night…and finally it was amazing!
Kath says
I heard it was awful!
Stacey@http://stacey-healthylife.blogspot.com/ says
Well hemp milk seems to be a bust, that’s to bad. I love those bowls.
Simply Life says
I’ve never seen that show but maybe I should give it a try!
Laura says
Black coffee with a little bit of maple syrup is SO good! You should try it, and if you don’t like it you can go back to adding milk!
Danielle (Coffee Run) says
I don’t know if I could ever be into black coffee! It’s almost a totally different drink.
Is Gossip Girl online already?? I missed Monday’s episode!
Camille says
I am still in love with the Buddha bowl… I must get one!
Lauren says
Still obsessed with the buddha bowl. Must. get. one. soon.
lynn (The Actors Diet) says
i have that song “black coffee” in my head now!
Carolyn @ lovinlosing says
I can never get up early enough to do anything like watch TV. I am NOT a morning person. 😉
Amber K says
Waking up early is not my forte, and TV would not convince me to do so. But, the idea of breakfast will get me out of bed every time!
Sydney says
I’ve been searching for a good coffee press, do you like yours?
Kath says
Love it!
sarah (the SHU box) says
<3 black coffee!! love it . . . i think you may grow to love it as well 🙂
Jil @ Peace, Love & Munchies says
I really need to get some coconut…I always see it here and now you’ve got me craving it! haha
Anais says
I don’t think I could ever love coffee black… I just love the creaminess and comforting touch that comes with adding milk to it 🙂
Lisa @ Early Morning Run says
Personally, I think Gossip Girl has strayed a bit too far and I’m not much of a fan anymore. I try to like it though! You’re breakfast looks fantastic!
laura says
where do you watch gossip girl at?
elaine! says
I’ve read that adding a pinch of baking soda to your non-dairy milk before adding it to the coffee will prevent curdling. Might be worth a try? If you do try it, let us know if it works or not!
elaine! says
Or maybe you were supposed to add it to the coffee first. Curdling is caused by acidity, so baking soda would offset the acidity of the coffee. I think.
Hillary says
I loveee the blue color of you Buddha bowl!
Janelle says
Ugh, black coffee. I’ve tried, but milk makes it so nice and creamy, and less likely to upset my tummy!
Allison says
Hey Kath!
How about more than a “sprinkle” of cinnamon now!
