Bachelor spoiler alert!!!!!!!
Last night we made this awesome sundried tomato, roasted red pepper and smoked gouda quiche. The fillings were great, but that crust! Yummmmm!
On the side – a spinach salad with the basil dressing, blue cheese and those delish praline pumpkin seeds from Naturebox.
And this!! Lots of honey notes. Loved it. We actually cancelled our wine club membership from Sebastiani after the first 2 shipments (that was our plan all along) but I kind of want to reinstate. We have enjoyed their wines so much.
SO – the Bachelor! I’m on my second cup of coffee this morning (which is funny because one was half caf and one was decaf – placebo effect!) because I was up till midnight watching the finale. We DVRed it and didn’t start till 9:30! Anyways…let’s discuss.
I was SO happy he picked Whitney. She was my favorite from the beginning, and I thought they made a great match. I was nervous that he just wasn’t that into her, but I guess he was! I really did think there was a chance he picked Becca, and I think Whitney’s disappointment would have been awful to watch. But things turned out great! About the two Bachelorettes: apparently they have done this before with the Bachelor? I’m not really all that excited. I have a hard time believing America was really 50/50 split since it seemed to me that everyone was rooting for Kaitlyn. But I guess this makes it a little more exciting. I don’t see any way that Britt will get chosen episode one though. I love Kaitlyn!
Easy peasy Tuesday morning breakfast: cereal (whole wheat flakes + Bitsy’s Brainfood squares) with milk, banana, blackberries and almond butter drizzle.
I just got an email that StitchFix is introducing both maternity and petite lines!!
I’m thrilled about the petite news! At 5’2″ I always have to hem pants and roll up long sleeves. Petite doesn’t mean XS – just shorter inseams and different cuts and things for smaller frames, so this is great news that they are adding more diversity of options. For maternity, there will be a place to edit your profile with your due date and tell your stylist what kind of maternity clothes you like. Something for many of us to hopefully look forward to one day!
So …..tell me your thoughts on the Bachelor!

You always make so delicious breakfast. You should make one of your breakfast post again soon 🙂
Kristy B. says
I definitely don’t think that America was split 50/50. I think the Producers wanted the Britt drama but America wanted Kaitlyn so they compromised. It’s stupid! I don’t even want to watch it now.
Candice says
I liked Whitney for Chris as well, but I’m still not that convinced he’s that into her. I think he had stronger feelings for Becca but she definitely was not into him. She didn’t even cry! I hope they work out. They seem like a better fit, with maybe a bit less chemistry. Seemed like Whitney was always the one kissing him and talking, and he was doing that with Becca.
KathEats says
Yeah I agree. But maybe he was holding back because he “knew”?
Connie says
I don’t watch the bachelor, so I can’t comment on that. But no pictures of Faith and Tate? I was hoping they would make a reappearance! I remember reading your posts way back about your times together. They seem like lovely people. Oh, and the salad dressing sounds divine. A recipe would be awesome!!
KathEats says
They are lovely people! The dressing is from Whole Foods – a new one they make in-house with lemon and basil
Ali @ Whisk and Repeat says
I was convinced Prince Farming was going to propose to Becca and she would say no! Like you, I’ve been on Team Whitney from the beginning! 🙂
Jessica J. says
I finally found smoked paprika and sprinkled some on our roasted green beans. They were delicious. That smokiness really added to it, too. Thanks so much for the inspiration!
Taca @ A Side Of Dessert says
Omg ever since I saw your quiche from last week I’ve been craving one like crazy! These ones look amazing too! I was rooting for Whitney too! I was very happy with the ending!
Natalie @ The Ravenous Mommy says
I’m glad he picked Whitney too! But I really thought he was going for Becca.
The two Bachelorette thing next season sounds very interesting!!
Leah says
Could you point us to a post where you explain how you make your quiche? Looks so good – especially the crust!
KathEats says
Sure, here’s the recipe page! https://www.katheats.com/vegetable-quiche-with-homemade-crust
Melissa says
The quiche looks incredible! Do you happen to have the recipe?
KathEats says
Here’s our standard recipe – you can change the ingredients as needed!

I thought something seemed off with Chris and Whitney. I like Whitney and all, but she seemed too pushy and eager. Time will tell I guess!
Emily @ Life on Food says
I have been on hold with StitchFix because I am pregnant. What fun news although a bit late at this point for this baby.
Irene says
Honestly, after watching the entire season and really watching his feelings and reactions with the girls.. Hands down Becca was his #1 Choice. However, Whitney was and has come on super strong and almost seemed like it was just a competition to win overall. Chris loves the fact that Whitney told him everything he needed and wanted to hear to win.. But Becca will and always will be Chris’s Heart & True Love.
Randy says
The quiche is making me hungry! 🙂
Chris wanted a wife and family so much and Whitney did too and she expressed how much she loved him throughout. I don’t think their could have been any other choice unless he would settle for essentially an inexperienced younger woman that didn’t even really know what love was let alone ever experiencing it; he would have had to settle for just a girlfriend with a lot of maybe’s and not much more.
I too had felt Whitney was the one for quite some time and am so glad it turned out the way it did.
Two bachelorettes? Dunno, will have to wait and see what ends up happening in the new season.
Christine says
I couldn’t stay awake for the entire show so I bowed out after his one on one with Whitney. But I heard on the radio this morning who he picked so its no longer a surprise, lol. oh well! I am going to watch the rest tomorrow but I’m so happy he picked Whitney! He went there to find not only love but a wife and Becca clearly was not there yet. If you’re in love with someone but cannot picture where you would be with them in 5 years, that is a huge red flag. Although, I do question Whitney too, sometimes I feel like she was saying what she thought he wanted to hear and didn’t real mean it….and the girl does not.stop.talking, lol!
Candice says
She even talked through what was supposed to be his proposal speech, haha.
Rosie says
I do not mean this in any sort of negative tone but can you please explain the appeal of show? It gets soooo much hype and I really don’t get it. I’ve tried to watch it a few times, thinking I must be the crazy one, but after 5 minutes I have to turn it off. It just seems so fake and shallow and frankly, stupid – and yet, a lot of good friends and favorite bloggers (you included) that I very much respect genuinely love it. What am I missing?
KathEats says
It is kind of shallow, but it’s fun to watch. I resisted it for so long and started watching 4 seasons ago and I’m now hooked. Also the episodes get better as the season goes on – the finale being the best!
Laura says
Glad to hear the news about maternity StichFix! I’m 7 weeks pregnant and this will be perfect to try out once I have a bump (which I’m anxiously awaiting!)!
Matt says
I just re-read the quiche recipe and I noticed that (by request) I’ve been making the crust a lot bigger these days!
KathEats says
Do you want me to update the original? I think you need to do a separate recipe for the crust and then we can update the quiche post link!!
Melissa says
This makes me kind of sad – I really haven’t looked at StitchFix until now (got some ‘me’ money with our income tax refund), but they don’t have plus sizes :/ the biggest size they go up to is a 14. Totally not your fault of course lol. Just a bummer.
KathEats says
I could see that coming in the future as they continue to diversify
Linda @ TheFitty says
HOW!! DOES!! GOUDA!! TASTE!!!
KathEats says
Smokey, buttery, nutty and Uber creamy
Emily Butler says
Oh I miss watching the Bachelor/Bachelorette…
but as far as quiche goes, I cannot for the life of me get my husband to let me try it on him. He loves eggs, he acts like it’s something really weird!! Uh!
Valerie says
Quiche is one of my favorite foods, and I cannot wait to try this recipe out…sounds delicious! I was on Team Whitney too and was so glad she won. I hope Kaitlyn gets picked too!
Kelsey @ Snacking Squirrel says
i love the bananas in a mug with milk. that looks really tasty!
Laurie says
I’m glad he picked Whitney too. But like everyone’s said, he really wanted Becca, even his Dad said it. Whitney is way more into him than he is, he just seems uncomfortable with her. You can see the chemistry he had more with Becca than Whitney. I hope it works out for them, and not another failed bachelor romance. On another note, your quiche looks so good!
Mabel @ Ma Bella Vita says
Never seen a quiche that looks like that. Yum!
Cara's Healthy Cravings says
Thank you for your spoiler alert this morning, as i just finished watching the episode now. I successfully kept myself away from any spoiling social media, so the surprise was not ruined 😉
I was on team Whitney as well, though Becca seemed like a super cool girl.
I still don’t really get the two bachelorette thing, so it will be interesting to see how it plays out.
Stacey says
Chris and my husband are college friends so it was super odd watching him be the bachelor! We enjoyed it though and got a lot of laughs at his expense 🙂 Can’t wait to meet her!
KathEats says
Oh cool! Where did they go?
Stacey says
Iowa State University in Ames, IA!
Amy says
Didn’t they already break up? That’s what I read yesterday, that she didn’t want to move to the farm.
Gwen says
Was able to avoid the spoilers all day yesterday and caught up last night – agreed, so glad he picked Whitney! I hope they are able to make it! I even got my husband into it!
I think Stitch Fix is such a great service, excited that they are expanding their sizing offerings, but they need to make the move into plus size clothing as well. Such a bummer to try and sign up and be told sorry, we don’t do that!
Sarah says
More than the Bachelor chat, I want to comment on your breakfast! ^^ They look delicious and tasty. I love how you prepare for your first meal of the day. Keep those ideas coming. I’d love to read more posts from you. And by the way, I also enjoyed watching the Bachelor’s finale!
