I’m still majorly under the weather over here, but I managed to eat a wonderful dinner.
Karen brought us some Mona Lisa Pasta recently, which is a local homemade pasta shop here in town. They do everything from plain pastas to lasagnas to sauces and more in the shop and it’s all made with TLC. We’ve had their fresh pasta before and it was outstanding! The feature tonight was a wonderful made-from-scratch cheese ravioli. I believe it was the best I’ve ever had!
We topped it simply with some jarred tomato sauce reduced with red peppers and fresh shredded cheese. It melted into a pizza haven!
I’m sorry I have nothing green to show you this evening – kale just didn’t seem to suit my palate.
After dinner Matt and I watched half of the movie Black Swan, and now I’m off to an early bedtime.
Krissy - Shiawase Life says
OMG Black Swan is so freaking intense….
Katelyn @ Chef Katelyn says
Early bedtime for this girl too — I slept all day, can you believe?
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
I hope you feel better!!! Enjoy Black Swan. Get ready to jump.
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
I don’t know if I’ve ever had freshly made pasta, it looks delicious! Oh gosh, and Black Swan was an amazing film, but very overwhelming! Haha maybe it’s best to split it in half!
Veronica (My Eats & Treats) says
Feel better Kath! I’m also not feeling so well… Either stress of exam week or the flu 🙁 I think it’s a good sign that you were able to have dinner! I, on the other hand, slept through dinner and am now trying to get my brain to learn physiology! Stomach not happy…
Mom says
Good luck!
Becca says
Don’t apologize for no greens! Just eat whatever feels best… we’re just happy that you share your eats period! 🙂
maria @ Chasing the Now says
Watched Black Swan on the plane back to Japan yesterday. It was okay, but I honestly didn’t see why it got all the hype it got.
Kel@The Kel Show says
So sorry you are not feeling well. Sending healing vibes your way!
Ingunn says
Feel better, Kath.
Kaila @healthyhelperblog! says
I love freshly made pasta! Our local pasta vendor is incredible!!
Jessica says
Hope you feel better! Your supper looks AWESOME! Black Swan was too weird for me. Which is a shame because I am a huge Natalie Portman fan.
Julie H. of Spinach and Sprinkles says
Feel 100% soon! ….The dinner looks *so* good for the soul! I’m going off to an early bedtime too, much needed!
Olena (The Fit Gourmet) says
Hi Kath,
Hope you’ll be feeling better very soon. Don’t get any of that “constructive criticism” bring you down. It’s true that it’s difficult to come up with informative and meaningful content three times each and every day, including weekends, but I am sure that many readers still find your blog inspiring and useful. You will find the appropriate balance, no doubt.
On my end, thanks for talking about added fiber last week. I’m a fan of Kashi cereals and even though its extra fiber doesn’t bother me, “artificial” fiber is something I want to know about.
Stacy @ Say It With Sprinkles says
Feel better soon, Kath!
Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga says
Get some rest, Kath. Sorry you’re not feeling well. Dinner looks great and so do the photos…great work; especially for a sick lady!
Deva @ Deva by Definition says
I loved Black Swan – it left me and The Boy talking for days!
Sarah says
Feel better! I was sick from the 30th through last week, there are some nasty colds going around my office 🙁 Lots of rest, fluids and Emergen-C helped me!
Kelli H (Made in Sonoma) says
Feel better!
I just can’t bring myself to watch Black Swan…maybe someday.
kathleen @ the daily crumb says
there is nothing better than plain ole pasta… especially ravioli! sometimes even the best of us need a break from green 🙂
Cait's Plate says
ugh – I’m so sorry you’re not feeling great. I went through the same thing last week (and have still not completely kicked it!). I hope you make a speedy recovery!!
Alyssa says
Hope you feel better soon! Good luck with Black Swan – it was great but so intense I almost wish I never watched it – I still shudder when I think about some of the self-mutilation in that movie.
titus says
Nice dinner. First time I heard about the Mona Lisa pasta. Made me hungry…

Hope you feel better soon! Pasta is my ideal comfort food!
Lena @Fit on the Rocks says
Goodness…I watched Black Swan on my way back from Barcelona, and (even with airline editing) I’m glad there were no kiddos sitting near me!
Lorin says
Somtimes we just need to eat food for our spiritual well-being than for nutrients so good for you! I always look at comments on your blog for fun to see what questions people are asking..I’m sorry about this morning and all those comments. I personally still look forward to your blog every day, especially breakfast. I mean, sure, it’s not as “dietician” focused, but change doesn’t mean that it has become a “boring” blog. I just had a nutrition class today and we were learning about breakfast and he put up a quote that said, “Happiness starts with a leisurely breakfast”. People don’t have to read and I”m sure that’s what is frustrating. I hope you start feeling better!
Kelly @ Vegolosophy says
There is nothing better then heading to bed early and getting a good nights sleep! Hope you feel better soon 🙂
Maria @ Sinfully Nutritious says
Rest Kath, you have done so much over the last few weeks. Your body might just be telling you to rest. Drink lots of healing tea and eat toasted Great Harvest Bread with some super healing local honey on it.
Lauren says
Feel better! 🙁
Hannah @ Eat, Drink and Save Money says
Oh Black Swan… Super creepy. I grew up a ballet dancer, but it was too intense for me. Let us know what you think of it!
Sarah says
Oh yumm homemade pasta is so wonderful. What a cute shop idea!
Simply Life says
we have a place like that near us and I love all the great pasta flavors they come up with! Hope you’re feeling better!
Amanda says
I haven’t had ravioli in forever…your post is making me want some!
Black Swan was an awesome movie, but parts of it were hard for me to watch. My mom used to be a ballet dancer before she had kids, and she couldn’t handle watching it.
Hope you feel better soon!
Susan H. @ The Food Allergy Chronicles says
Oh my that looks good! Roasted red pepper tomatoe sauce sounds wonderful! Get some rest!
Karen says
I hope you’ll allow yourself a “sick day” if you’re not feeling well on Wednesday 🙂
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope says
I hope you feel better! 🙂 Your dinner looks lovely!
Clare @ SweetnSimple says
Hope you’re feeling better soon! Your dinner looks delicious 🙂 Mmm still not sure about Black Swan, I grew up as a ballet dancer but I don’t know that I could watch it again, a little intense for me!
Sarah @ The Smart Kitchen says
Some days you just have to say NO to the green. [And I’m now having serious Mona Lisa cravings.]
Get well soon, m’dear! I can’t wait to see you now that I’m back in town permanently. 🙂
Sarah @ The Smart Kitchen says
PS. Eek! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Black Swan!
Sarah@The Flying ONION says
So sorry to hear you’re not feeling well!!
Black Swan had me mesmerized but completely disturbed as well. I’m curious to hear how you liked it! 😀
Heather H @ Run Eat Play says
That ravioli looks awesome! My 10 year old son just realized that he loves cheese raviolI, so we’ve been eating it a lot more.
Molly @ RDexposed says
Will you be offering TLC via OpenSky anytime soon? 😉

Looks delish! Fresh pasta is always so amazing 🙂
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
Get better soon!!!!
Jules @ La Petite Maison Verte says
Hope you feel better soon, Kath! I had an awful cold last week and maybe it’s just the placebo-effect in action, but I swear the Emergen-C and Zicam helped me get over it quicker than I would have without them. Not sure if they would help your current ailment but it may be worth a shot 🙂 And that pasta looks divine!
Emilie @ Emilie's Enjoyables says
Hope you feel better! I’ll be curious to hear what you think of that movie.
Erin says
Sprucing up tomato sauce is one of my favorite things to do. All it takes is a little tweak to make it take spectacular. Hope you’re feeling better supah-fast!
Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning says
I’ll be interested to know what you think of Black Swan. I think it just looks so… creepy. I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing!
Do you get sick very often? I get sick maybe once every three years, and can’t tell if that’s due to my diet and activity level OR the fact that I’m a teacher and have just built up immunities to everything from being around sick kids all the time. I’d like to think it’s my lifestyle that helps!
Hope you feel better soon!!
KathEats says
I think eating well has a huge part to do with it. I rarely get sick other than a yearly cold or two
Jana @ Newly Wife Healthy Life says
Hope you feel better! There really is nothing like homemade pasta, it’s hard to go back to dried after having the real deal. I wasn’t much of a fan of Black Swan, a little too depressing for my liking! Plus the end kind of confused me, I am still not sure I even know what happened!
Rebecca @ Naturally Healthy and Gorgeous says
I would love to learn how to make my own homemade pastas!
KathEats says
I made this lemon ricotti gnocchi that was excellent a year ago! http://wisconsincheesetalk.com/2010/09/28/cheesy-confessions/
Emily says
That looks AWESOME. I love fresh pastas. My husband and I like to buy some (in different flavors) when we go to our local market, but we haven’t gotten and filled pastas yet.
Melissa Good Taste says
I have been feeling kind of punk lately too. Such a bummer too since the weather in California has been so wonderful. 70’s and 80’s without a drop of rain! Very nice but almost scary for winter!
Lexi @ Cura Personalis Foodie says
Black Swan creeped me out a little bit because I watched it at home alone. At least you have Matt 🙂
