I went on a beautiful summer run this morning amongst misty mountains and sunrise poking through trees. <3
4.0, a bit slow, but that’s because I was just relaxing rather than focusing on my speed. Since this might have been my LAST run in our neighborhood, I challenged myself to run up the huge hill that ends my running route since I normally run up half and walk the rest for a cool down. Today I ran the whole thing – woot! Didn’t know I even could do that this whole time. I think my eyes got a little misty at the end. I sure have loved this neighborhood for running!
Green and yellow, kiss a fellow
Back home I was planning to make oats, but I just didn’t feel like the big filling bowl since it’s hot out again, so I had cereal instead!
- Quaker oatmeal squares (from Blogher)
- Cville Crunch granola
- Banana
- Blueberries
- Chia seeds
- Milk
- Barney Butter
French Breakfast tea on the side, which was excellent!
I am now going on the new homeowner’s favorite trip: home supplies shopping. We need things like a shower curtain liner, plunger, towel bars and more. Should be a fun time!
Larbs + Matt arrive at 1pm for a Great Harvest lunch!
Then, it’s beer time.

Accessory shopping is the best part! Have fun!

Yay for one run last run in your old neighborhood! I have a favorite 4 mile loop that I’ve been doing since I started running. I would be sad to leave it behind, but that’s because it’s so nice and flat 🙂
katie @KatieDid says
I love that kind of shopping! Although everything adds up fast. Have fun with your sister!
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
congrats on the hill! I did the same thing when I moved from Charleston, SC: went on a run around my favorite route!
Erika - The Teenage Taste says
Congrats on running up the hill, Kath! That is awesome! 😀
Your post reminded me about this quote, so I figured I’d share it with you.
“Many people shy away from hills. They make it easy on themselves, but that limits
their improvement. The more you repeat something, the stronger you get.”

Kath, I love that you are taking in the “saying goodbye process”. I have always regretted the moments where I forget to stop and make a memory because I’ve been to excited on future events. Enjoy your home supplies shopping! I am counting down the days until we see how you are organizing your new home!

Glad you had a great last run, or nearing the last run. The last time we moved (2 mos ago) and each of the 10 times or so in the past 10 years, I have always had a mental goodbye to my running path that I knew so well the previous year. Even though we’re only 1 mile now from our old place, my path is different, all the little nuances are different, it’s just…different. So I said goodbye to it.
I think it’s great you had a great hill run as a finale of sorts!
Kathy K says
Kath, I received my granola order yesterday and had some Cville Crunch for breakfast along with plain greek yogurt. All I can say is…OMG! YUM!! Thank you!

Wheee!

Home shopping is sooo fun! I can’t wait for my honey to finish two bathrooms in our house so I can go shopping for new stuff 🙂 Awesome job on the hill! I have been known to throw my hands up in the air when I get to the top of a tough hill, so I can understand the misty eyes. It’s such an accomplishment!
Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning says
Aw! Remember that you can always drive back to your old ‘hood and go for a run! I LOVED running in my old neighborhood and we only moved a mile away, so luckily I can still run there. Who knows- you might find out that you like running in your new neighborhood even more!
Have fun shopping for home supplies- moving is such a great excuse to buy new stuff!!
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
nice job on the run. We have a hill of death in the neighborhood next to us that I always do half walk/half run but last week actually ran the whole thing too. It was killer but pretty cool to conquer it once and for all!
Brittany @ Itty Bits of Balance says
After my marathon last year, I really have started to enjoy relaxed runs so much more. I guess I’m just not the type who likes to run on a time crunch 🙂
Cait's Plate says
Yay for Larbs and Matt coming!! That’s so exciting 🙂
Sometimes slow, enjoyable runs where you can just take in the scenery are the best.
I wanted a cold breakfast this morning too – I went with a yogurt bowl (I’d be lying if I said my main motivation wasn’t simply because my Cville Cluster arrived! 🙂 )
Cara @ EAT. PRAY. RUN. says

I love the photos today… and the linens! Your food photos have to be the best of all the blogs I follow, and I think it is what keeps me coming, because you can always make something so simple look so appealing! Glad you are revelling in your last moments in your community, many people forget to savour and just rush through life. I appreciate the reminder to “stop and smell the roses!”

Thanks so much Nikki!

It is so exciting to be moving to a new home.
I am very impressed with how efficient you both are at tackling the house projects. I always procrastinate till the last moment and then have to run around in a panic.

Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
Congrats on conquering that hill!
Lara @TresLaLa says
Absolutely love getting to the top of the hill right around our corner. I usually use it as an end, but I run up the other side (it’s less steep). But when I go “backwards” I really get a good burn, and feel great for the rest of the day!
Shaya (Eye Girl Eats) says
Will you have good running at your new house? Or will you be able to run through your scenic town (I’d be excited for that for sure!)?
If that’s the case, I’d run right past the bakery in the mornings haha– keeping an eye on things!
