A little life update and good eats from the season.
Merry Hibernation
Fastest Christmas Season Ever!
I know it’s not over yet, but going on a tropical vacation in the middle of the holidays was a little bit of a time warp! I blinked and it’s Christmas break!
The boys are out of school for the next few weeks, so I’m going into hibernation mode so I don’t have to work overtime to get new posts up. So KERF might be dormant for a few weeks.
That said, if there is time and I have some great pics to share from Christmas, I hope to pop in with a blog post!
I also have my Word of the Year post ready to go – I can’t wait to share that with you all!
I’m also working behind the scenes on a new health-focused, body love, nutrition-y course. If you have a minute to fill out this survey, I’d appreciate it so much!
New Stockings
Thomas really wanted us to have the boys’ names on their stockings, and the red bows and wrinkles on our linen ones were driving me a little nuts, so those two things combined meant we splurged on some new beautiful neutral stockings over Black Friday weekend!
I am obsessed with how structured the quilting is, and I love their names too!
We have some flameless birch candles that I put on top of the stocking holders. And above that is a real Kent & Co candle that I also got for my Beautycounter team leaders – they are so lovely!
Light Up The Night
On the outside Thomas put up our lights!
I saw Birchie kissing Santa Claus
He loves the neighbors’ decor too!
Santa’s Workshop
I got this Santa’s Workshop from KiwiCo as a craft to do together. It was a big hit!
Our snowman is pretty rad!
Winter Activities
Floor Games
Other activities have included playing with every toy in our house (do we really need to buy more????? I would skip Christmas if I could!).
Bike Rides
Numerous bike rides around the block to see other neighbors’ decorations
And a surprise visit from Birch’s BFF!!!
These boys played SO hard!
Holiday Eats
I picked up some green juice from The Juice Laundry so I could embrace the green shot with breakfast from Anguilla!
Egg Scramble Lunch
Immi Eats
High protein vegan ramen noodles by Immi. Mazen is really into ramen these days. I loved these and added some veggies to my bowl too.
Sheet Pan Chicken
We made Brittany’s Sheet Pan Chicken Thighs – delicious!
Caraway Sheet Pans: Before + After
This is why I love the Caraway sheet pans. This would have taken hours to soak off of our old metal ones. You can see the metal handles are permanently stained – they need a solution for those! But the ceramic coated pans are amazing to clean!
Hello Fresh
We’ve been doing Hello Fresh since I took advantage of a promotion. I think we’re going to try Green Chef next! They have a really good deal going on.
Turkey Bolognese with hidden zucchini
Veggie Chili
Dreaming of Sugarplums
This time of year I want to climb in bed at 8pm! I’m currently reading Two Nights in Lisbon, which is really good! It reminds me of The Da Vinci Code. Very suspenseful!
I also have the Winter Street series by Elin Hilderbrand queued up! Set in Nantucket over the holidays, it’s the perfect seasonal read!
I hope you have a very merry holiday break with your loved ones <3
xx,
Kath

I agree on the toy predicament!
I think my kids are set for life!
But somehow there always seems to be a few new toys on Christmas!
This year I got my kids one big item for them to all share and then a few small things in their stockings just for them. We’ll see how it goes.
Happy Christmas!!!

I wish we could mix it up more. My uber classic husband couldn’t possibly reimagine Christmas 😉

I just finished Two Nights in Lisbon and LOVED it. Read a little like The Golden Couple/The Plot/The Maid, all of which I enjoyed (some do have predictable endings but great character development!). Happiest of holidays and enjoy your time with the boys!

I liked The Maid too!!

We just bought the Caraway pots and pans set… and I love them! Super easy to clean, and I love not worrying about teflon chemicals!
Kath Younger says
Yay! They are the best I’ve ever used.

what flavor of ramen do you like? I’m curious about this brand but wish they just had a tofu option. i’m not into fake meat masquerading as meat 🙂 Thank you! Happy Holidays!
Kath Younger says
I liked the chicken the best…prob because it reminded me of chicken noodle soup. Mazen loves them all!

My kids have been really good about getting rid a lot of toys that they’ve either outgrown or never play with. But thanks to Christmas I. Now redoing the playroom and putting together shelves today and probably have to buy more but it’ll be nice to finally have it done after talking about fixing up the room for 5 years now. I just finished the Winter Street series and it’s a nice easy read.
