On Saturday afternoon we went to our friend’s graduation party deep in the countryside of Virginia. The kids had a great time running wild while the adults sipped from the keg and enjoyed a cookout on the grill. I had one too many of Alice’s Martha Stewart Raspberry Crumble bars!
Sunday was super laid back as we played in the yard and did a lot of projects around the house. We started the day with a strawberry breakfast pie that I am working on for an upcoming post!
The boys had a great time on the slip n slide!
Matt hung some string for his hops to climb, and we gave the garden a good water. This is garden 4.0 and maybe our best yet (although it’s off to a slow start!)
I cleaned off our outdoor furniture and rearranged it. We bought this white couch for a covered porch and are still figuring out how to keep it clean on an uncovered one!
We had kale salads for lunch with our neighbors. Plus beer in the solo cup!
Fast forwarding to Monday’s breakfast, which was a delicious spread – eggs, bacon, leftover pie and raspberries. We are headed to another cookout soon!
Our hearts, love and appreciation go out to all of those who have sacrificed for our country on this Memorial Day

I’ve always wondered how people keep outdoor furniture clean. The ones in magazines always amaze me! You’ll have to share your tips and tricks soon.

On our covered porch it was no problem but a roof makes a huge difference. I think the key is just lightly cleaning them off once a week and deep cleaning once a month or so
Livi @ Eat, Pray, Work It Out says
that bacon looks amazing! what kind do you get?
KathEats says
I think it was Applewood smoked?
Alex @ True Femme says
Looks like good food and good fun!

What a nice and well balanced weekend you all had. Is this Matt’s first time growing hops? He should be sure it’s allowed. Here in northern Illinois they are considered an invasive species.

Did you move? Your porch and garden look different. Is it the house with the screened in porch?
I’m going to try those raspberry bars.
KathEats says
We did! We moved over the winter.
elizabeth says
I totally didn’t notice. Do you have a post about the move? I don’t think I’ve even seen a picture of your new kitchen.
KathEats says
Here was the post from March! I haven’t done any house tours, but my kitchen is visible in a handful of posts : )

Looks like a great new place, especially the yard(I like to garden). Seems like, in the past, parts of your house and décor were always a part of your posts, just curious why you won’t be sharing much of the new place?
KathEats says
Just keeping things a little less private this time around. Once you share you can’t go back, and we hope to be in this house for a really long time!
