I came home to a warm welcome!
I think they missed me 🙂
After a MASSIVE unpack, I put the house back together and before long it was dinnertime.
Matt hadn’t eaten a zucchini, squash and a little bit of pepper, so we turned them into spaghetti along with a few tomatoes from the garden and a new sauce.
Nanny’s Cucina sent me this jar a few weeks ago and tonight was the perfect opportunity to try it. If you go to their website, you can see sweet Nanny herself. She must be quite the cook! I’m going to stretch it out throughout the week into a few more tomatoey dishes as we finish out our grocery budget for the month.
The sauce was quite good – and it did have a little kick to it!! It tasted fresh and homemade, although not as good as my mom’s sauce!
The dish included whole wheat pasta, the veggies, sauce and freshly grated parmesan cheese.
We attempted al fresco dining because there’s a nice warm breeze out, but not two minute in I was swarmed by mosquitoes 🙁 Too bad we live right on a creek.
After dinner we watched the movie New In Town with Renee Zellweger and Harry Connick Jr. I found it quite humorous and sweet. I like Renee a lot 🙂 A tad bit cliche, but it was that kind of movie so I forgive it.
Not two hours after dinner I found myself with a growling stomach. I settled it with some Mix My Granola in soy milk, but since my photos were already uploaded I didn’t snap one. Just imagine my little bucket bowl half filled with cereal 😉
Can’t wait to settle into my own bed. Matt changed the sheets before my arrival and the bed is perfectly made! The bakery is closed on Mondays, so I’m glad to have tomorrow to spend together, even if I do have lots of work to do on the ole ‘puter.
Night folks.

So cute that they were waiting 🙂 Hunni does that when I go away for a weekend for work.
I love your veggies and pasta. I have leftover pasta sauce, veggies and lots of pasta in my pantry so I think this is what is on the menu for tomorrow 🙂
And who doesn’t love fresh sheets and a made bed when they get home. Just like being in a hotel.
The Novice Berker says
Ahaha, Matt’s head looks oddly, disproportionately small in that picture because of the angle. 🙂 Enjoy your Monday with the hubby!

Dinner looks great! I love pasta sauce with a kick. Then you don’t have to add as much extra spice to it.

Mosquitos are just one of those things I never remember about summer. I always plan long evenings outside, then get attacked by them! Oh well – made for a nice photo! 😛

I am consistently impressed with your ability to turn random ingredients into a legitimate, yummy-looking meal! I usually just stare at the contents of our fridge and then decide to go out- bad!

Can I ask what the story is behind the bears? I know when Bites and Bowls was house-sitting for you they made lots of apperances.
I’ve always been curious!
Charlie Hills says
Bears on your stairs! Awesome. And much better than frogs in your bogs. Though for dinner you could have had fishes on your dishes…
Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope says
Sounds like you got a nice Welcome Home! What a neat dish to use up those veggies. Sounds perfect! 🙂
Kath says
Jean ,
I used to HATE teddy bears, esp. associated with valentine’s day. I got Bocker my freshman year at Davidson (the little one) as a gift and we used to make fun of him and make him talk. Then Beaker (BOO!) became a second joke. Churton was found on the side of the road and my mom gave him to us to join the family. So they started a jokes, but now the are real 🙂
Kath
Jean says
That’s funny! Thanks for clearing up the mystery!
