A delicious bowl of oats topped with a puddle of Sunbutter to start this cloudy morning right.
In the bowl: 1/3 cup oats + milk, 2/3 cup water (part of the key to volume!), chia seeds, vanilla, pinch salt, 1/3 cup cottage cheese, half banana, 2 giant sliced strawberries, Sunbutter melt.
Vanilla Rooibos tea on the side
I’ve actually been suffering through a headache since yesterday afternoon and just decided to take a Tylenol. Hoping some exercise helps the blood flow the pain away.
Have a great Hump Day!
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
Sorry to hear about the headache! I hope you feel better.
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope says
I hope your headache goes away! 🙂 Those oats look perfectly for a cloudy day. So fluffy!
The Mrs @ Success Along the Weigh says
Feel better soon!
Now I must go make my oats (with a few chocolate chips!) to settle my oat envy!
Stephanie @ Legally Blinde says
Your oatmeal looks good, especially the Sunbutter puddle! I had an almost-empty Sunbutter jar and made overnight oats last night – delicious. I’ve never looked forward to almost-empty nut butter jars so much, haha. Hope your headache goes away – I can’t believe it lasted through the night! You’re probably already doing this, but make sure to stay hydrated; I think dehydration is probably my biggest cause of headaches.
Jodi @ Jodi, Fat or Not says
It’s cloudy here, too :(. Love that your mug says “Votes for Women!”
Katie says
Rainy and cloudy here in Nebraska and I’ve had a headache all week. Exercise certainly should help in some way. Also, water and rest in a dark quiet room seemed to help when I had a headache while pregnant. Hope you feel better and the sun shines soon!
Sarah says
Your breakfast looks amazing!
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
I got my 1/3 cup of oats up to 2.5 cups total with water, greek yogurt, chia seeds, and almond milk. Delish and filling!
Jana @ Newly Wife Healthy Life says
I still haven’t tried cottage cheese in my overnight oats! I think I am nervous of the texture and that it will taste salty?! Looks so good though and is a great way to mix it up!
Caroline @ After Dinner Dance says
I haven’t tried cottage cheese in oats yet either – I’m in the same boat as you, nervous about how it will turn out!
Melissa @ HerGreenLife says
Me too! But I’m curious every time I see it here.
Also, I really like cottage cheese, but it’s not something we buy often (and I try not to do TOO much dairy, in general). I think my curiosity will win out one of these days though.
I guess all of us Nervous Nellies could just try adding cottage cheese to a small portion of the bowl — that way there’s not much to lose or waste if it’s not our thing 🙂
Jen says
You can buy low sodium cottage cheese. It’s creamy and delicious.
Erin says
It’s good. Try it! I now put it in smoothies as well since I am not a fan of yogurt.
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
I woke up with a headache too and it’s still sort of lingering but I’m trying to hold off on Advil until absolutely necessary. Hope yours goes away soon! 🙂
~Christy @ wonderofallthings says
Love the mug 🙂 Sometimes the cloudy days are my favorites — changing the tone of the day, slowing the pace…
Andrea @FrSeed2Stomach says
I hope that headache disappears soon. Maybe some yoga would help?
Anna @ On Anna's Plate says
Pregnancy headaches are the worst. My friend gave me this advice– put your feet in hot water and a cold compress on your head…I guess it drains the blood down?
KhushbOo says
Hope you feel better soon!
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
I hope your headache goes away! I felt like I had a constant headache in Colorado, probably because of the altitude! Your oats look amazing, as usual!
Susan H. @ The Food Allergy Chronicles says
I had a wicked headache two nights ago…I blame this wacky weather sysytem! I know when the barometric pressure jumps my head swells! The Chinooks in Calgary would paralyse me…literally could not open my eyes or function…rest in a dark place with plenty of water and peace and quiet! Good luck!
Cait's Plate says
Now that’s my kinda bowl of oats!! I had strawberries, chia seeds and sunbutter this morning too but I smashed it between two waffles 🙂
Sorry you’re feeling headachey – that’s the worst! I’ve been dealing with a dull one for the last couple of days too. No fun!
Allison K says
Water, water, water for that headache!
kathleen @ the daily crumb says
tylenol, lots and lots of water, and some fresh air is my go to headache cure. hope it works for you!
Kindra @ wickfreeforever says
Yum that looks like a great way to start the day! Headaches are the worst, tylenol works the best.
Johanna B says
Speaking of cloudy days – we’ve had a nice soaking rain all day/night for 3 days now. Two more coming before it’s through for awhile. It’s actually been nice having rain. We needed it so badly.
Sneakers2sandals says
I hate when I try and hold out and not take a tylenol and then end up having to take one anyways! bummer!
Em (Wine and Butter) says
Im always so adverse to taking pain meds… and forget how much they do actually REALLY help. Plus lots of water!! Hope you feel better soon!!
Renee says
Hey! I’m pregnant and have been following your blog since before I was pregnant. I’m at 26 weeks, and I refuse to take tylenol. If I have a headache I find a small cup of coffee does wonders!
Jessica @ The Process of Healing says
I hope your headache goes away soon.. I get them a lot and they are miserable!!!
Those oats look SO good and voluminous!
Averie @ Averie Cooks says
I hope the tylenol and the puddle of Sunbutter help your headache to go away!
Jessica says
don’t know if you get allergies, but i’ve been getting crazy headaches because of all the pollen that’s out now. claritin has helped me TONS. (claritin is safe in pregnancy, btw.) that and a little coffee. 🙂
Megan @ Megan's Munchies says
I haven’t had that tea in forever! Perfect way to start hump day!
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
Hope your headache goes away! Try some peppermint essential oil–works like a charm!
Angel7 says
I had a horrible sinus headache last week. My mom told me how the pollen count is really bad right now. Do you think your headache could be sinus or allergy related?

Another beautiful breakfast.

At about 12 weeks I started getting terrible headaches in my pregnancy. They got much better at 20 weeks. Now at 22 weeks they only come if I am tired, dehydrated or too hungry. I took Tylenol and a little caffeine/a lot of protein helped a lot. My son seems to want nothing but protein 😀
Laura @ She Eats Well says
Hope your head feels better. Water Water Water! Your oats are stylin, today.
yvonne cavanagh says
I hope you are feeling better. I just have to tell you that I love reading your blog and have tried many of the yummy things you’ve suggested… coconut butter most recently. And I am even able to find it in my humble town of Bakersfield, Ca. 🙂 Thanks!
KathEats says
Thanks so much Yvonne!
elle @ nutritionella says
Feel better! Oats look lovely – never thought to add cottage cheese! Do you add after you cook the oats?
KathEats says
yeah, I add when the oats are almost cooked through
Fran@ Broken Cookies Don't Count says
Hope the headache is OUT of your life by now!
Eva says
I’m excited to try sun butter. I think they have sunflower butter at Trader Joes even? I’ve banned peanut butter from my life so I’m excited for other options, It looks delicious!
KathEats says
Yes! TJ’s brand is awesome!!
Erin says
My son is allergic to peanuts and he LOVES sunflower butter. I have actually been meaning to email a picture of him with it smeared all over his face (he’s 2) to Kath since I wouldn’t have even known about it if it weren’t for this blog.
Randy says
I hope your headache has gone away by now; no fun to have for sure.
Your oatmeal looks great and makes me hungry. I have never tried sunbutter but I am sure it is a good addition. I think oatmeal is one of those universally good foods that not only tastes good but is also good for you.
I am on my way to do some grocery shopping so hopefully after looking at some of the things on here will motivate me to make better and more healthy selections at the store.
Thanks for providing this site; I find it very interesting and helpful.
Have a great evening!
