I’ve been in many meetings this morning, one with Matt, one with Relay Foods (GH Cville coming soon!), and more! And that just happens to be one of my favorite Lord of the Rings soundtrack songs!!
Continuing the bike theme of today, I went to cycle class this morning! As I was biking there, I pondered to myself why I was biking to a dark indoor bike class on a beautiful day. I almost just biked outside, but the traffic and indecisiveness on where to go made me pause. I ended up going inside and had a great class! I sweat more in indoor cycle than I do when running outside in the summer!! Crazy. Great music too! The class ends with a 10 minute core session in the neighborhood group ex room. Great workout!
Let’s talk smells. This weekend at HLS Ashley, who is my Bearfriend and works at Proctor & Gamble in the fragrance dept (can we say dream job!?) was wearing this new smell:
I could not stop loving the whiffs of her wrists! So much so that she took this little baby bottle out of her purse and handed it over!! I put some on the women’s locker room today and cannot keep my nose off my wrists. You must go to a store and smell it! Thanks Ash!
Bakery time!!
Lunch today was curried tuna served on some High Five with blueberries cooked in!!
I just love our curried tuna. It’s the perfect blend of savory spice. And with the blueberries – don’t knock till you’ve tried!
Daily monthly orange on the side!
I had to taste test some bread + a brownie (different recipe) today for dessert. Oh the woes of owning a bakery!
Claire @ Live and Love to Eat says
I love designer fragrances but stick with my MJ Daisy… now I want to smell this Gucci. Sounds like she has an awesome job! Can you bottle the smell of freshly baked bread? 😉
Beth @ Beth's Journey says
Must be nice to get expensive perfume for free!!!
Brittany (A Healthy Slice of Life) says
I never wear perfume, mostly because of the price. How fun to get a fancy bottle for free!
GH should create a perfume that smells like freshly baked bread… I’d rock it 🙂
Olena (The Fit Gourmet) says
You can always get small (5 ml?) samples at pharmacies for free.
Kathryn @ Flopoodle says
That blueberry bread looks so moist and yummy! You always inspire me to try food combos that I would never even think of! 😀
Katherina @ Zephyr Runs says
Curried tuna is sounding SOGOOD right now. Mmmm…
Angie @ Musings of a Violet Monkey says
I haven’t worn fancy-schmancy perfume for ages. In my high school days I remember liking Ralph Lauren’s Romance. Ugh. Too, too flowery for me nowadays. Then I went to lighter body-splash type things. I love citrusy scents the BEST. (Anyone know of a good citrusy perfume? Currently I wear C.O. Bigelow Lemon Eau de Parfum).
So often a scent that smells good on someone, smells completely different on me. Or, I’m just finicky. 😉
~
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
curried tuna?!? That sounds delicious! I might have to try and re-create that myself!
Holly @ The Runny Egg says
Your dream job: working in the fragrance dept of P&G. My dream job: taste testing brownies!
🙂
Lindsay @ Lindsay's List says
Lucky girl!! curried tuna? can’t say that I’ve ever thought to put those two things together! Looks yummy though!
Kelly (meatless with a man) says
You have a very interesting palate!!! I wish I were more brave (well, kinda – I like what I like!). I can’t combine sweet and savory. No fruit with anything other than sweet foods. The time that you posted OOIAJ using a mustard jar, I believed you – because I thought “leave it to Kath!”. HA!
Katie says
It’s ProctEr..sorry – pet peeve of mine!
Ash Bear says
Yes, it is Procter & Gamble! Thanks Katie 🙂
Katie says
Anytime! Drives me crazy!!! 🙂
Baking N Books says
Pet peeve with all words – or just “ProctER”? 😉
Katie says
I’m kind of spelling/grammar nerd…I’m not ashamed!! 😀 That one always gets me though…since they sign my paycheck!
Lorin says
I would be in your bakery buying things so much. If only if I wasn’t on the complete opposite side of the country :).
Ash @ Good Taste Healthy Me says
I’ve had tuna with cinnamon before. It’s actually really good.
Cait's Plate says
That sandwich looks AMAZING. Love the blueberries in the bread.
And I was literally just thinking the other day how I’m ready to switch it up in the perfume department! I am definitely going to Sephora for some whiffs (and possible purchase!) of that!
Hillary says
That bread looks like CAKE. Seriously, Kath, you’re making me want to open my own GH!
Jen G. says
I’m so jealous of those who can freely enjoy perfume. I’m super-allergic to flowers, so almost every perfume keeps me from breathing. I do enjoy vanilla and citrus scents, though.
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
mmmm I love blueberries, so that sounds like a perfect idea!
I am all about a great lunch that is rounded out by some fruit 🙂
SillySavage says
Curried tuna rules. I know you can’t share your recipe but may I share a link to the recipe I love?

It’s super delicious. I don’t use white meat (albacore) because I don’t care for the texture. I use the chunk light tuna.
Baking N Books says
Have you guys always been interested bread for your business? I.e: just curious why you decided on a bread bakery versus say another type of food business or just a bakery that wasn’t GH or a deli or something? I was going to say a sandwich shop – but you kind of are!
Chloe (In Fine Feather) says
I love the LOTR soundtrack, especially when I’m studying. I feel so powerful & like I’m on an epic study journey 🙂
Shaya (Eye Girl Eats) says
may I please be hired as an official taster?? yummm!! the curried tuna makes my mouth water every time– is the recipe a GH secret or can you share?
Ashley O. @ The Vegetable Life says
I have been saying for months that I want to invest in a scent that I love. I usually don’t wear perfume but I really want to start, I just need to fork over the money fo a good one!
Ashley@FoodNFitnessDiaries says
Curried tuna…sounds DELISH! Definitely giving that one a try.
Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga says
I totally am hanging out with the wrong crowd.
I want to hang around with friends who whip bottles of brand new Gucci perfume out of their purse and just GIVE IT TO ME! Wow!!!!
Yes. I need a new circle of friends, clearly 🙂
And I love Gucci Rush. It’s a 10 year old scent but I love that stuff. And Chanel almost anything. I could spend a fortune on perfumes and scents. I love it!
Ash Bear says
It’s amazing how popular Gucci Rush is still ten years later! In case you ever need more, it’s carried online by Sephora and Macys! 🙂
Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga says
I know I have a few online sites I get it from! you’re right…an oldie but a goodie 🙂
Jeni @ hippiewildmama says
I saw the picture of the perfume bottle first and I instantly thought you were ready with your new news post and I thought, ‘she’s the new Gucci girl’!! lol
Heather says
That orange looks really mangled! How’d you peel the poor thing? 🙂
Emily@SavoryandSavage says
Great looking sandwich! I hope all your meetings go well.
I am going to have to head to the store to try that Gucci scent.
Lisa says
Hooray for LOTR! “Theoden King” is my favorite. Anything with the violins, really. 🙂
Cait @ Cait hates Cake says
Blueberry bread sounds awesome. I honestly don’t know how you do it – how you own a bakery and don’t eat the entire store everyday ;)Talk about self control!
Kait says
I’m super picky about fragrance but I have a bottle of Gucci Guilty that I just LOVEEE
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
The curried tuna looks great! I haven’t tried that Gucci parfume yet, but my favourite is Chanel Chance EDT… I adore it!!
Ashley says
I can totally see blueberries or blackberries working with curry flavors! YUM
erica says
now i’m totally curious and need to go smell this gucci guilty!
Sweet and Savvy says
Oh I loveee perfume! It is so overpriced though! My favorite is Vera Wang’s original Princess scent! I’ve worn it for a couple years, and it is not quite as ridiculously priced as some of them!
Kelly @ Foodie Fiasco says
I actually love the sound of blueberries in some high five bread. Don’t most baked goods just taste better with blueberries?
Joanne says
The curried tuna on high five bread sounds fantastic. I love the inclusion of blueberries. That’s the way to get your antiox’s! 🙂
Christine (The Raw Project) says
How exciting about Raley’s, that’s great! And the lunch sandwich looks wonderful!
Susan D. says
Love your blog. I’m really into spin class right now, so much fun (3-5 times a week). For me, nothing pulls off the weight quicker. 🙂
Claire says
So much traffic right now with all the students back! Good idea to go to spin class. I actually really like the spin studio at ACAC (I used to be a member last year) 🙂
Heather says
Thank you for clarifying that *some* Great Harvest shops do sell sandwiches. I have one a few towns over from where I live, they only had bread, granola, and a few sweet. Needless to say, I was kinda sad :'(
JenATX says
just got back from a 5 week trip to Mexico & I’m glad to see things are still great with the bakery and with you & Matt 🙂 I hope I didn’t miss out on much!
Alexa @ Simple Eats says
That curried tuna looks awesome. I love how bright it is from the curry. I’d totally try it on blueberry bread…I bet it’s fantastic!
Nikki says
Hrmm… blueberries with curry?!? Sounds interesting! Both on their own sound amazing, since GH is so far away from here I will have to trust you and the combo! 🙂
Lynda @ healthy hoboken girl says
Yum blueberry bread!!!
Jennifer (The Vintage Chain) says
That really looks delicious! Really love your blog. 🙂
Angel7 says
That High Five bread with blueberries nestled in it looks divine! The bread looks as though it would melt in your mouth.
Could you put strawberries or raspberries in the bread, or would they get mushy or something? Are the blueberries in the bread your’s and Matt’s concoction, or was that Great Harvest’s idea?
If we owned a bakery, there would be a lot of quality control going on 🙂 If pizza was in the mix as well at our bakery, boy, oh, boy, would I be in heaven (LOL)

KATHY says
Kathy, would you please share your recipe for the curried tuna? I did not see it in your recipe files.
thanks!
KathEats says
Kathy,
It’s from our bakery, so I can’t share. I’m sorry
Hillary [Nutrition Nut on the Run] says
Gucci Envy Me is also delish!
Kate (What Kate is Cooking) says
I love a good perfume, but I’m allergic so I never wear it 🙁
Lisa (bakebikeblog) says
Kath- the bakery is looking wonderful! So very inviting! LOVE IT! You guys really have done such a great job!
KathEats says
Thanks!
Sabina says
was ashley OK with you mentioning her employer in your post? i’m assuming yes, as you posted it.
i’m asking this as i’m sensitive to publishing other people’s (and my own!) personal information in public forums.
Ash Bear says
Sabina,
Thanks for double checking but yes, it is fine that she mentions I work for P&G. It has been mentioned on my blog before and my employer knows about my blog. 🙂
KathEats says
Oh gosh, so glad you responded Ash!! I honestly didn’t think about this and was scared you might not have wanted me to mention that for a second! Whew!
Fran says
I used to wear the Gucci sent that was just called “Gucci.” I loved it, but don’t know if they even make it anymore! I’ll have to give the new one a try!
Ash Bear says
Fran, You can order Gucci by Gucci EDP on Macys.com. It isn’t in high enough demand to be carried in stores unfortunately. 🙁
Fran says
Oopps…that was “scent.”
kaila @ healthy helper! says
mmm i looove sweet fruit with tuna! it pairs so well!!!
Ash Bear says
I love all the comments about people’s favorite fragrances today! If anyone has any questions about fragrances, feel free to send them my way and I’ll do my best to answer them.
Meaghan O'Connor (My Spoonful of Inspiration) says
Blueberries and bread. Two of my favorites in one! 🙂 Never tried an indoor cycling class- sounds like a great workout!
Kelly says
That actually sounds so nice!! I love the sweet/salty combination!!
lynn @ the actor's diet says
that sandwich looks epic! chicken curry with raisins is one of my favorites, so this looks like an interesting twist on that theme!
Ellie@fitforthesoul says
I am such a strong smell-type of person that I just smell everything I pick up lol. Next time when I’m walking around the mall, I’ll definitely smell this one! : DDDD
Hannah says
Thank you for the perfume tip! I’m running low on all 5 of mine, so am excited about going to find a new one soon 🙂
Anne P says
Mmmm… I miss that curried tuna.
Sarah@The Flying ONION says
The tuna sounds fabulous. And I can see how the blueberry thing would totally WORK. 😀
I love new smells. I’ll have to check this one out! 😀
Lilly says
that sandwich combo looks delicious! I had curried tofu on cinnamon raisin bread and it rocked, sweet and savory are such nice compliments to each other 🙂
J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) says
I’m not much of a perfume-wearer as it usually gives me a headache, but some scents are simply intoxicating to me and I can’t get enough of them. Perhaps the one you mentioned would do it for me? I’ll check it out next time I see it on display. 🙂
Jillian says
Me neither- even if I like a synthetic fragrance, and there have been quite a few I’ve liked, they always give me instant headaches. I do loooove a couple from the Love & Toast line that WF and other health food stores have started carrying- the Pomme Poivre one smells like a legitimate perfume, but with no chemicals!
Sarah @ Sarah's Modern Bites says
Oh my gosh! Those blueberries in the High Five bread look and sounds awesome! I love savory sandwiches with sweetish bread… I use cinnamon raisin bread for egg sandwiches all the time.
No matter what perfume I wear I always end up smelling like a ‘French Whore’ hahaha for lack of better description. The only perfumes that don’t make me smell super ‘purfumey’ are the natural Pacifica perfumes (Tuscan Bood Orange!) and Burberry Brit, London and Classic.
It’s so interesting how perfume can smell so drastically different on each individual person.
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
Spin is the best! I go on Tuesdays and Thursdays but I snuck in another session this morning, woop woop!
Cyndi says
Is it my imagination or is your blog’s font getting smaller? Maybe it’s my eyes ; )
KathEats says
I didn’t change it!
Cyndi says
It’s my eyes .. ehhh
Jennifer Drummond says
I see my bag of granola! lol The Pesto bread looks so good! Wish you could ship that! Thanks for all the great posts!!
Mauimandy@The Grains of Paradise says
Guess I’m going to have to look for that parfume and test it out myself!!
Sara says
Definitely going to check out that perfume!
Emily says
High Five with BLUEBERRIES?!? That sounds amazing!!! I wish my local GH had that one! 🙁
I had the Woodstock for the first time this morning, toasted and topped with Justins Maple Almond Butter. Heavenly 🙂
Liz says
I love the high-end fragrances (but usually never buy them for myself – great gift idea)! My favorites are CK In2U her, Ralph Lauren Hot, Armani Acqua di Gio for women, Emporio Armani for women, Lacoste Essential (which is a men’s cologne, but I LOVE the scent of it!) 🙂
Khushboo says
I love Gucci’s line of fragrances…the name one in particular which I really like isn’t coming to mind but its in a tall clear bottle with pink “G’s” all over!
Alaina says
I think I would gain weight if I worked in a bakery. Pastries and bread are my weakness. Good practice in moderation and self control though! 🙂
Katie G. says
i totally agree, i was thinking the same thing! go Kath! and if you have any extra bread, you can send some my way, ha 🙂
Katie G. says
the blueberry bread looks like it would melt in my mouth….yum
