Sometimes he loves my lists (and even requested one yesterday!). Other times he ignores them. You never know what you’re gonna get!
Mow grass – check!
Pack dining room – check!
Take apart dining room table – check!
Eat lentils – check!
Cook dinner on grill – check!
I decided to skip my workout today again. I have my whole lifetime to exercise – and this week is super busy. Muscles and sweat and hotness just aren’t a priority this week!
Came home and had a snack instead. Voskos plain (half a container) with chopped plum and raw oats. Delish!
I think changed my mailing address on 100 things. Cancelled our utilities. Did internship stuff.
Meanwhile, Matt was doing his share of moving activities – and putting together this amazing dinner! I swear food tastes better when you don’t think about it first!
We grilled up the last two pieces of lamb from the American Lamb Board.
Along with a ton of our fridges last veggies!
The lamb was seasoned with rosemary (perfection) and tasted great. I had about 4 bite’s worth and gave the rest for Matt to gnaw on.
He did a fabulous job with the grilled veggies!!! All seasoned in Garlic Gold Oil. I dont think I can go back to eating regular olive oil because the Garlic Gold adds sooo much flavor!!
Holy mother of bread!!!!!!!
A huge hunk of grilled Dakota. Matt chose the portion size and while I could have easily eaten the whole thing, I practiced portion control and eat….75%!? It was soooo doughy and seedy and crunchy!!
As Mr. Burns would say…"Exxxxxcellent."
Hoping I have a few minutes to read tonight, as reading hasn’t happened at all this week and I have Beach Week Family Book Club in 8 days!
Bethany @ More Fruit Please says

Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg says
I love the haystacks of veggies 🙂
What are y’all reading for family book club? What a fun idea!
Kath says
Tale of Edgar Sawtelle!

Wow, I can never practice portion control with bread. Especially when it’s all warm and crusty like that!
Robyn @ Frugal 'n' Fit! says

Lauren @ eater not a runner says
Love that you’re a list maker!
Sarah (Running to Slow Things Down) says
Good for you for having such a healthy mindset about working out. Besides, packing boxes and moving technically IS a workout in and of itself. 😉
Dinner looks fabulous! Veggies on the grill is one one of my favorite things about summer. 😀
Lisa @bakebikeblog says
What a great impromptu grill up! Works perfectly when you are in the process of packing / moving house too!
Anne says
I agree w/Meg – moving is DEFINITELY a workout!! Good luck with all of that – I hope the weather cools down a bit for you!
I had the pleasure of meeting Matt this afternoon when my boys and I stopped in at Great Harvest for some yummy bread. He is very sweet 🙂
Kath says
Oh how fun!!
Allie (Live Laugh Eat) says
I had to remind myself the same thing during finals week. You can workout to your heart’s content at the beach/the rest of your life. One workout, or two or three skipped won’t do anything. It’ll probably give you the rest you need to pound out some great beach runs too!
RhodeyGirl Tests says
My husband would KILL me if I ever gave him a to do list.
OMG, How do you get your hunny to even sometimes agree to one.. or ASK for one?!
Maybe it’s because we are still new to living together. I hope one day it won’t be a big deal to ask him to do a list of a few things now and again. it would make life so much easier!
Stacey@http://stacey-healthylife.blogspot.com/ says
I have never thought of throwing a big head of broccoli as is on the grill, great idea.
Sarah says
Kath,
Good Luck with the move! Come visit the studio whenever you come back to Charlotte!
Miss your energy in class, but I know you will find some excellent yoga options in VA!

Kath says
Hey Sarah!! So sorry we’ve been skipping class 🙁 I feel bad! Hopefully I can come to a few more before we’re gone for good!
Kaz says
Delish! I love grilling.
Jil @ Peace, Love & Munchies says
You busy, busy bee!!! And love the grill – it’s really the one thing I miss living in the city…okay I’m sure there are a few more…but not much else beats a cook out on a warm summer night.
lynn (The Actors Diet) says
i’ve never left my husband a list before – well, i guess we just email each other stuff….
Hannah says
Well done you for prioritising your life! That’s such a healthy and clever way to think. 🙂
Kori says
Matt’s presentation of all the food at dinner was absolutely spot-on, especially the stacked vegetables! 🙂 I hope you both have a fantastic night.
Jae says
You seem so extra-ly happy these days! 🙂 (not that you didnt seem happier earlier)
It’s so great to ‘hear’ your voice just shineee with happiness. It makes me giggle and puts a bounce in my step. I guess that another’s happiness transfers over sometimes!
Kath says
🙂
I think it’s because there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.
Wei-Wei says
Awesome dinner! Are you waiting until the last minute to pack up your grill? 😉 Glad to see the packing’s going well! 🙂

Kath says
We’re just plopping it into the pod!
Cynthia (It All Changes) says
I can’t believe he actually follows your lists. Normally Hunni loses the lists I make him.
jason says
omg, I’m moving in a few weeks and I NEED a moving/to do list!
Sarah Snacks says
I’ve never thought of putting broccoli on the grill! That’s genius! Does it taste anything like roasted broccoli when you put it on the grill?
Kath says
Yup!
Natalie San Luis says
That spoon in your yogurt looks super cute! Where did you find it?
Kath says
World Market
Callie @ Callieflower Kitchen says
I love the little veggie cabins, so cute! And I’m not sure I would’ve been able to exercise self control on the bread, especially if there was butter around 🙂
Simply Life says
I’m sure moving will include enough activity/exercise!
chand says
K, Is the Dakota bread a loaf of bread? Does it come in another form? What town do you live in now? Where are you going?
Kath says
Yeah, it’s a loaf. This one was oddly shaped so he brought it home.

I’m horrible with portion control when it’s already on my plate. I try to take small portions of food so that I won’t end up devouring everything! Hahaha wow you guys got a lot done with your packing! I find lists to be very helpful sometimes 😀
Heather (Heather's Dish) says
way to go on the self control…i probably would’ve devoured that entire massive plate of food! it looks and sounds so incredible!
Leslie @ Chomp! says
i love how much you love bread. thats all.
Morgan @ Life After Bagels says
I’m getting soooooo into grilled veggies the other day we did corn, it was so smokey and delicious!

Jenn
Michelle says
Haha! My husband will read my list (or recipe!) just once and then think he remembered everything. This is how I’ve come home to a tuna salad sandwich with sliced strawberries in it.
Love your attitude about working out. Sometimes life demands a break from our exercise routines, and it’s not the end of the world!
Andrea says
Yum! That BBQ dinner looks so fresh and delicious! Hope everything is going smoothly with your move – glad you are still able to balance blogging, packing and the stress that comes along with it!
Erin @ A Girl & Her Mutt says
Mmm…I am craving some grilled veggies something fierce.
Kerri says
You two are both such multi-taskers. Good Luck with the move.
Freya @ Brit Chick Runs says
Those grilled vegetables look amazing..I wish Ihad a grill so bad!
‘I have the rest of mylife to exercise’ – that is such a good attitude for when you’re busy! I might steal that one next time I’m overwhelmed 🙂 thankyou!!
Diana @ frontyardfoodie says
I LOVE lists. Even if I ignore my list it just gives me a sense of what I need to do. I make them constantly.
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
Lists are the only way I ever get anything done!
I think all that packing counts as a workout. 😉
Stacie @ Imperfectly Healthy says
My husband is the same with lists — sometimes it works, sometimes not!
Your bread looks GOOD!
Jen says
Hey Kath! So glad that you skipped the workout to pack instead. Working out is definitely a great stress reliever, but sometimes you just need to get the stressful stuff done first otherwise you won’t have a good workout. Sounds like this morning’s run made up for it. 🙂
I had a good 2 weeks off of working out because I had so much other stuff to deal with. At the time, I was annoyed, but now I enjoy and appreciate my workouts so so so much more!
Jen
AllieNic (Frisky Lemon) says
I’ve never grilled carrots before! Those look so tasty! I’m going to have to try that….
Callie says
That dinner looks so good. 🙂
Martha Collins says
Someone beat me to asking what book you’re reading for Beach Week Family Book Club. I read The Road right after I saw your family reading it at the beach last year. You made it look so interesting!! I already have the Tale of Edgar Sawtelle but lost interest about 100 pgs in. . . will have to dive back into it. Good luck with the move to VA and happy reading!
Lorin says
Oh that all looks so good! Man, you have good self-control, I would have eaten that whole hunk of bread!
Meagan says
“I decided to skip my workout today again. I have my whole lifetime to exercise – and this week is super busy. Muscles and sweat and hotness just aren’t a priority this week!”
^^What a great perspective Kath! I think everyone needs to realize this sometimes (including me!)
