[No he’s not here
Sorry for the title!]Did you know there is a full moon on my due date? And not just any ole full moon – a BLUE moon!
I am always looking for the meaning in things. I was hoping for a birthday of 8.26.12 because 2+6 is 8 and 2×6 is 12 and of course I heart the number 26. But that numerology has come and gone, so when Matt and I got to talking about the moon cycle over dinner tonight I thought: How cool would it be for him to come on his due date, 40 weeks on the nose, on a blue moon and on KERF’s 5 year anniversary!
And then Matt brought up the fact that we danced to “Moon River” at our wedding. And I just about lost it!
Of course he can come whenever he wants, and even if he comes a few days before or after, he’ll be our lunar babe : ) Maybe he’ll love Goodnight Moon or want to be an astronaut! Maybe he’ll dance to “Blue Moon” at his wedding…
We slacked on the meal plan this week and had to come up with something on the fly tonight. Requirement: tomatoes had to be involved.
The main course was a No Bull Burger served on a fluffy Virginia roll bun. Gosh this was a great burger!! Slice ‘O cheddar cheese wedged in there.
And on the side – a summer tomato salad!
I combined the following and tossed them together: ~2 cups of sliced baby garden tomatoes, 1 cup frozen/thawed lima beans, the corn from 1 ear cut off the cob and about 1/3 cup crumbled goat cheese. The dressing was just 1 tbsp each of aged balsamic vinegar and olive oil plus a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Just realized now we forgot the basil!
Delicious on all accounts.
Afternoon snackage!
Oh, and our doctor’s appointment went well. Nothing really new to note – just waiting patiently! Doctor says babe is in a good position. I actually have a really big day tomorrow involving a film crew of 3 flying in from NYC for this upcoming freelance project and then it’s all downhill for the rest of the week, month, year!
Leatitia @ The Sweetest Year says
I can’t wait to see your little baby! 🙂
Becca says
Aww, love that you have a Lunar Babe. That’s so sweet.
Excited to finally hear about this new project. When will we find out?!?! (Hey… If you had had the babe on the 26th, what would the film crew have done?)
KathEats says
Launch date is Sept. 17. It’s very exciting, but it’s nothing earth shattering 🙂
And they would have had to come another time – well after he was born! (They know I can go into labor at any minute)
Eating 4 Balance says
Is there a specific date when you are going to tell us about the freelance project? Like maybe the day the baby comes… Or tomorrow? Lol.
Cait's Plate says
Come on baby!! We all want to “meet” you! 🙂
Angel7 says
I think the babe will be born on KERF’s 5 year anniversary!
Burgers are always an easy, quick, delish, & nutrish dinner! We have burgers almost once a week.

I went into labor with my daughter on a blue moon! It was my easiest labor of all 4 of my kiddos. And, the L+D was FULL of other women in labor. There really is something to labor and full moons.
KathEats says
: )
Rebecca says
There sure is something about full moons. Both of my kids were born on full moons:)
Best of luck.
Eating 4 Balance says
HAHA. Oh, just by chance I looked at the comment above mine. Nevermind 🙂
Diane says
My husband and I dance to Moon River too. Blue moon baby would be so neat. Can’t wait to hear about the new project.
Anya says
Maybe he’ll be born on “Labor” Day! Hee Hee!
Averie @ Averie Cooks says
Full moons tend to bring on labor – maybe you’ll get lucky 🙂
Susan says
Isn’t amazing to think that little thing punching, rolling and kicking in your belly will get married some day? I can’t wait for you to meet that little one! I can confirm that as a mother of two boys (though I’m sure it’s the same for mothers of girls), parenting is challenging but so amazing and rewarding!
KathEats says
Yes! I was looking at Matt all sprawled out on our porch sofa the other week and said to Karen: “Can you believe that giant guy was in you!?” She could not.
Erin says
My 5’3″ mother gave birth to my two brothers, 6’4″ and 6’5″. Crazy!
🙂
Jennifer says
All my labor and delivery nurses all said that it is totally true that more women go into labor on full moons. Hope that’s true for you! Both of mine were late. Continue with the walking and sex until the time comes. 🙂 I guess there are worse things.
susan y. says
I had my fourth child 2 weeks late during a full moon. The hospital averages one birth a day.
That night, April 1, 1996, there were 10 births. I think you may get your full moon baby.
PS mine was 10 pounds 2 ounces…delivered vaginally, no medication before or during.
PPS My mother in law crocheted that exact same baby blanket made with pastel colored yarn for my first child born in 1986. Best of luck to all of you.
KathEats says
WOW those are some stats!
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
This is such an exciting time – the two of you just imagining all the great things to come!
Mom says
And I’m going to get him the Moon Bear books!
Jennifer @ Daily Vegans says
That is so exciting:) We had our little girl last year… She was a wonderful addition to our family 2boys and now a little angel:) They bring such joy to our life’s… Look forward to reading your future post:):)

Film crew, huh? That sounds very exciting!! I hope our baby arrives during the blue moon. That would be a cool story to attach to birth. 🙂
Carla says
Watch, your baby will come tomorrow, on your busy day!
Anne says
I’m confused about your use of the word ‘downhill’ in the last sentence on the post. Can you explain what you mean more clearly please 🙂
KathEats says
Easier with all these projects behind me. The year thing is just wishful thinking!
Karen says
Of course Kath didn’t intend to imply that the birth of her son and parenthood would be disappointing compared to the freelance project; clearly, she threw out that term as a means of expressing that her schedule would be lighter after this obligation is met – sarcastically of course, given the monumental work involved in taking care of a newborn.
Camille C. says
I look forward to your posts at the end of the evening! Whoerything always looks so pretty and delicious! The whole film crew thing sounds pretty intense. I’ll be interested to hear all about it!
Liz @ Tip Top Shape says
Way to tease with that title! lol
Khushboo says
The suspense would kill me!!
Kerry says
My husband and I danced to moonlight by Bob Dylan at our wedding and had a full moon that night as well. It would be magical to have a once in a blue moon baby 🙂 I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you guys!
Liz says
I would definitely not be surprised if he showed up on the full moon. I work in a pretty large hospital & we have all kind of craziness on the full moons (including extra births in L&D 😉 )! Can’t wait to hear that he’s been born 😀
Oh, and can’t wait to hear about the new project, too!
Michelle (Peachy Palate) says
Nothing as good as a veggie burger when you have no dinner plans! Love em! Even if you don’t have any at hand you can whip one up in no time 🙂
Vidya says
We have a lunar baby too! I delivered on a full moon day:-)
mary @ minutespermile says
clever recipe with the tomatoes and cheese! i’m convinced you can add goat cheese to anything and it will taste 100% better. i tried my first no bull burgers last week — really good! i was shocked to find so many types of beans/lentils and whole pieces of spinach in there!
Kayla says
so excited for baby KERF to come! probably not as excited as you & matt though.. 😉
Octavia says
I love coming up with new ideas for homemade burgers! I found this great post about a new utensill that makes it really easy to stuff them!

I didn’t know you knew about skyr! I’m from Iceland and I think it’s the best. Plus it’s loaded with proteins, so sometimes we have it for (lazy) dinner with fruit on top and toast on the side.
Amy Wiginton says
Kath- LOve the idea of him coming on his due date…that would be CRAZY!!!!!! But things like that happen all the time:) Where can u buy those Bull burgers….want to try one!
Thanks!
KathEats says
Here’s their where-to-buy – and if they aren’t local to your town, they also do ship. http://nobullburger.com/where_to_find_us
Rebecca says
My girl was born on a full moon, just one day after my due date. I remember having the blinds up that night and the big moon was shining in our room. It was so peaceful to look over and see her sweet little face without turning any lights on. I hope you get a full moon babe!
Alicia says
I really thought the 26th was it for you. I had no idea you were gunning for that day as well. My son was born on his due date (so it does happen).
What a story you will have if your little fella is born on his due date!
marnie says
we share our anniversary with my son too! i love it!
Alice says
Ha, I remember playing all those games at the end of my pregnancy. I was due 2-11-2011, which I thought would have been a cool birthday. Then my due date came and went, so I hoped for Valentine’s Day. Nope. He wasn’t born until 2-26, and my birthday is also on a 26th, so I’ll take it 🙂
KathEats says
He knew and was waiting for the big 2 6 🙂
Jenica says
I love how impatient you are! He’ll be here soon and you won’t even remember the waiting game, I’m sure.
KathEats says
I’m not that impatient for him – just blue in general!
Claire @ Let's Go On A Living Spree says
LOVE those NO Bull Burgers! I make them at home…but my favorite place to get them is at Bodo’s. I get Egg Whites, Cheese, and No Bull on a Whole Wheat Bagel. Umm, perfection! 🙂
Ellen @ Wannabe Health Nut says
Love your simple meal ideas—I always want to lick my computer screen when I read your blog. 🙂
Madeleine says
My little boy (who is now two) came on full moon- one day before his due date! I like to think the moon helped (but he was also almost 10 lbs; I think he was just done baking!)
denise says
oh! I have to say, my baby girl was born on an august 30 1993 blue moon — she was due on the 29th (and i went into labor on that day). thanks for reminding me and peace to you soon-to-be three.
Rose says
My birthday falls this Friday, Aug. 31. It’s a great day for a birthday. I hope your little one comes! I think there is something super special about being born on a blue moon. It only happens once every four years or so. Thinking of you – and hoping all goes well with your delivery.
