Sorry for the delay – we were out RUNNING! 5 miles before breakfast – wahoo!
Banana fuel bites before we left:
We covered a big loop downtown and back – it was a pretty good run! I’d just suggest for future reference NOT to eat squash skin the night before running
My stomach was so bloated!
Look at these two lovemugs –
SupercalifragilisticexpialidOATcious
The Super Mix
- 1/3 cup homemade Scottish oats
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 whole banana (leftovers from pre-workout!)
- Chia seeds
- Pinch Salt
- Pear Fig Jam
- Naturally Nutty Cinnamon Vanilla Sunflower Butter (I’ve been hoarding this for ages – it’s baaaaaack!)
- Galaxy Granola Raspberry from my samples
The oats were SO creamy today and the bananas SO fluffy!!
Cool coffee.

Happy 28th KERFday
I’m turning 28 on October 26! And I’m inviting you all to Charlottesville the weekend of October 23 to run the Charlottesville Fall Classic 10K race with me (or cheer from the sidelines!) and celebrate my birthday. Meghann is coming! Emily is coming! Ashley and Bo are coming! Allie and Diana (I think!) and maybe Sarah! I may have heard flutter from Brittany down in Richmond. And I know there were more who mentioned a maybe. So you ALL should come and have a HLS reunion!! Ashley + Bo chose a hotel, and Matt is working on his pumpkin ale recipe.
EMAIL ME if you’re interested!

PUBLISH this post – I’m so late!

Christine says
Oh that sounds fun! Would a newcomer be welcomed?
Kath says
Of course – that’s why I’m inviting you! You just have to be a KERF reader to come 🙂
Holly @ couchpotatoathlete says
Aww, lovemugs 🙂
I would love to run a race with you on your birthday, but alas I will not make the trek from MN 🙁
I love your oatmeal mug, where is that from?
Kath says
A street vendor in Asheville
Andrea says
I don’t run but I may be able to talk my husband into a mini-vacation to Charlottesville since we’ve never been. Is the run part of the “celebration” and therefore required? We’d be excellent cheerers! I’m sure my husband, who is a hobbyist brewer himself, would love to try Matt’s pumpkin ale. 🙂
Kath says
Running is definitely not required – you can just cheer! Or sleep in 🙂
Andrea says
Or exploring some local breakfast suggestion? Gotta check flights!
Erin says
So in love with your oatmeal mug! I actually almost bought one very similar at an arts festival this weekend (he was calling them chowder mugs but we all know they’re perfect for oats) and didn’t have cash, sadly. 🙁
Natalia @asideofsimple says
I’ll be stuck at school =( I can’t wait to hear all about it though!
I love that oats mug. It’s one of my favorites of yours. I like to think that anything tastes better in that mug!

Natalia @asideofsimple says
Oh right, wasn’t sure if you would find it online though. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!

Fun! Since I missed the HLS, I may need to see if I could drive up that weekend. It’s about 3.5 hours from me in Blacksburg…that would be fun!
Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter says
What a cool idea for a birthday!
And your oats look absolutely delectable. I’ve been flip flopping on what to eat this morning for breakfast. I’m thinking oats 🙂
Brittany says
I’m definitely interested. I’ll email you!!
Wei-Wei says
Awww, I don’t like being in China when you guys talk about blogger meet-ups 🙁 But at least I can read about them, right? 😉

Alyssa says
Those were my thoughts exactly 🙂

OH I wish I didn’t live across the country! Also, you mentioning your 28th birthday, made me realize that it’s almost MY 28th birthday, and I can’t believe I’m going to be 28!!!!!!!!
Hillary [Nutrition Nut on the Run] says
It seems like just yesterday that you turned 2.7!
Steph@stephsbitebybite says
After seeing your post yesterday about scottish oats I went directly to the store and bought some for this morning’s breakfast. I always prepare my breakfast the night before so that I can just take it to work with me. When I tried to microwave the scottish oats they didn’t turn out to well. I guess they’re gonna become a weekend meal when I have time to cook them on the stove. Now I just need the weekend 🙂
Mary @ Bites and Bliss says
That’s so awesome! You’ll have so many people running with you 🙂 Talk about a fun run!
Meghann says
I’ll be there!!! 🙂

That ceramic mug for your oatmeal is SO gorgeous!
Barefootgirl 27 says
Ahh. Fellow Scorpio. I turn. *gasp* 40 the 27th!!! I would love to be able to run a 10 k. Heck. I’d settle for being able to run a 5 k.
What a great way for you to celebrate !!!!!
Kristine says
Hmm!! What’s the closest airport to you?!
Kath says
Charlottesville has an airport, but it’s kind of small and hard to fly out of.
Richmond is about 50 miles away.
DC’s Reagan Airport is 2 hours, but there’s a direct Amtrak to Charlottesville.
coco says
I’d love to go!!! I need to figure out how far is from DC… maybe I can go with Emily 😉
Stacey (The Habit of Healthy) says
Sounds like a fun way to celebrate your birthday and I’m sure it’d going to turn into a great big blogger meet up! I can’t wait to read about it.
Caitlin (EatFeats) says
What a fun birthday celebration. And that pear fig jam sounds awesome!
Alexa @ The Girl In Chucks says
Fact: I turned 28 in May, and every single time someone asks how old I am, I say 27.
No, it isn’t a joke, like, “hahaha..I’ll never be 28!”
It’s that I keep forgetting how old I am.
Watch out for 28. I think it’s where adulthood senility starts to kick in….
Just kidding. 😉
Molly says
I’ll second that! I turned 28 in June and still have to pause and think about how old I am when I am asked!
Alexa @ The Girl In Chucks says
Haha! I’m so glad I am not alone! *bonds*
Kelsey @ CleanTeenKelsey says
Wow, 5 miles before breakfast?! You are beast! That is awesome, lol. Hooray for fluffy oats. 🙂 Oh and Happy early Birthday! So exciting. 🙂

Kath (Eating for Living) says
What a lovely mug! I also have a lot of different mugs (and bowls …) in my kitchen so I can choose one according to mood. 🙂

Christmas babies are screwed on birthdays!
Emily @ The Front Burner Blog says
I will be there! And I am coming from DC, so I could pick up anyone who needs to fly into DC and drive them down with me. Just let me know. 🙂
Liz @ Tip Top Shape says
Aahh, those mugs are wonderful. I have one that I got in Vegas that looks like it is from a 1950s diner. Favorite mug ever 😀
Jess @ NZ Girl Runs says
I love that you drink your coffee out of a Speights mug!
Haley says
I LOVE that you have a Speights mug!! I studied down in Dunedin, Aotearoa (where the Speights brewery is) and went on multiple tours over the 9 months I was there to get the samples at the end! haha. I’m not a huge beer fan but the brewery was so much fun to do with my fellow classmates.
Oh and also, I would love to run with you on your bday if it wouldn’t cost me a cross-country plane ticket as well =(. Woohoo for your upcoming birthday!!
klm says
I was SO not invited!!!! ouch.
alison says
What a fun way to celebrate your birthday. 28 is a great age; I’m turning 34 in November and that’s a number I’m not so sure about.
Jenny says

stacey-healthylife says
