The SUN is out! Oh how I missed it 8)
I didn’t end up going to bed until 12:30 last night because something came over me and I finished my Micro project flow chart at midnight – whoo hoo!! I had to do the flow chart in Paint and I just decided to get started and the next thing I know I finished it!
I slept until 8 this morning and was in the mood for an alternative breakfast (Just for you, Charlie!!) Given the bread abundance (which is slowly shrinking just in time for the new work week 🙂 ), we decided on French toast.
Mine featured:
- 2 slices GH honey wheat bread, Frenchly toasted in an egg-vanilla soy milk-cinnamon batter
- 1/2 a large apple, simmered until tender in a little water with some cinnamon
- A dipping bowl of syrup
- A generous tbsp of Barney Butter
Plus coffee on a cold autumn morn’
Along with a dose of sunshine
Today’s Agenda:
-Finish Micro gram-negative pathogen notes
-Go running
-Shower
-1pm: EarthFare for groceries + Taste of Thanksgiving samples for lunch (free lunch!)
-Ann Taylor LOFT to exchange the shirt Karen got for my b-day that needs a size smaller
-Studying
-A Walk?
-Reading?
–5pm: Charlotte Dietetic Association Journal Club with Kelsey
–7pm: Karen comes for dinner (and brings French beef casserole + kale salad!)

must feel good to have gotten that finished!
*drool* at the french toast =P

The French Toast looks great and very seasonal. It has inspired me to have pancakes today instead of the usual sunday chiliquies. Its going ot be in the 80’s here today, so will fit in a very long 4-5hr bike ride. It’s probably the last of the warm weather. Have a great Sunday!
Moran says
I am so jealous the sun is out!! Its gray and windy here! Have a cool Sunday!

French toast is the perfect Sunday breakfast. My dad would always alternate between waffles and French toast on Sunday mornings. Good luck with your to do list!

Mmm, now you got me craving french toast. It looks so good!!!

Hi Kath!
I’m confused about something! I know you are having “surprise” guests this weekend but I thought that was the only “clue” you gave us. I saw someone posted last night that they were from California? Did I miss a post somewhere where you said that? Have a great day! It’s sunny here in Chicago, too 🙂
Kath says
Fancy ,
That’s next weekend (well, Wednesday) and I mentioned I was trying to get stuff done this weekend so next weekend would be free. My cousin Anna is coming from California to visit us before she goes up to visit my grandparents in MD for Thanksgiving. She’s SUPER cool, so I’m very excited:)

Mizfit,
It’s very sunny in Chicago today 🙂 I just had to get up and close my blinds because it was making my condo too light!

Ha – loved the shout out to Charlie!
Although, for what its worth, he can eat the same things every day and never get sick of it!
It was sunny this morning, but its gone now – feels like 20 degrees!
Have fun at EF!
jenner says
sunny, yes, but freezing…!!
i am officially having french toast for dinner tonight.
daphna says
Hey Kath! I was wondering if Karen would mind sharing the French beef casserole recipe at some point? I know it’s not healthy, but it looked SO good last time!
Runeatrepeat says
Your pictures are always so pretty 🙂 EF sounds like fun…I love samples!
Amanda in Pittsburgh says
Mizfit –
You lived in Pittsburgh? So then you know how cloudy & snowy it is here now!!
stacy says
I also had french toast this morning! …but mine didn’t turn out so well. Do you let your bread soak in the egg mixture or just dip it quick and put it on the pan?
also, I have some cottage cheese and was wondering if you have any ideas what I can eat it with? thanks!

My molecular bio prof once famously told the class “The difference between gram negative bacteria and gram positive bacteria is that… is that… one is positive and one is negative.” This guy went to Cornell!
Charlie Hills says
French toast! Yay!
It’s pretty good smothered in butter, syrup, and oatmeal.
Nicole says
Mmmm, I’m loving the breakfast! It looks great, Kath!
Dale says
Hey Kath! Congrats on finishing your project – nothing like working when the mood hits you!
I wanted to share with you my new blog! I just started it today. I also have a “blogger” question (I am new to this after all!) – do I need a fellow blogger’s permission to list his/her blog on my “blogroll”? I would like to list yours there!
Everyone is invited to check out Dale’s Dish at http://dalesdish.wordpress.com.
Thanks 🙂

Hi Kath,
This is just a quick question and I’m sure you’ve answered it before, but how many calories are people suppose to consume per day. I ask this because I am now trying to maintain my weight. I read about how 1200 calories is the lowest you’re supposed to consume and to maintain, you add the calories you burn to that? I’m about 5 feet, 100 even and have been eating 1200 PLUS 800 (what i think i burn in a day from yoga 30 min, and walking around a lot/studying on campus)… is this right? I’m 19 by the way. Or is 1200 plus exercise cal. for weight loss ONLY and should I be eating more? like 2500?
Thanks. I’ve been researching this online and it gives mixed results.

French Toast made with GH bread is the best. I love using the cinnamon chip bread for French Toast. Have you tried their Pumpkin bread yet….I am sure it will make it’s way home soon!
jenner says
Stacy, i love cottage cheese…
– with pears and walnuts
– with any fruit really
– topped with 1T jam or preserves
– with cereal or granola
– with flax
– on a salad
– mixed with salsa, w/ tortilla chips
– mixed with hummus, w/ veg
– subbed for ricotta in a lasagna or pasta dish
– on 1/2 a bagel or toast
– with cinnamon
– stirred into a cup of fruited yogurt
– in “bodybuilder pancakes”
– in smoothies
Cottage cheese is so versatile, is high in protein, and has a great nutritional profile (but some brands can be a little high in Na+). Also check out this page http://www.stumptuous.com/cms/displayarticle.php?aid=23 for more ideas.

Great looking breakfast Kath. Nice to see the sun – It is raining here and windy… oh well 🙂
Have a great day
Kath says
daphna ,
Got it for you!
stacy ,
I think the key to good french toast is using more egg than you think you need. We used 2 eggs plus about 2 oz milk for 4 pieces of bread. We just dipped it in and moved on to the skillet.
Dale ,
Your blog roll is your favorite blogs – no permission needed to add! Good luck getting going 🙂
Rina ,
What your describing sounds like weight loss calories to me. Check out the FAQ page for more info on my approach to maintenance. You’ll have to figure out what works best for you.
jenner ,
Thank you for the ideas!
