Another fun morning has come and gone so quickly! Here’s a photo of this morning’s keynote led by BlogHer founder Lisa Stone along with Stacy Morrison, editor in chief of Redbook, Leslie Pinckney of Warner Bros. and Lisa Hsia of NBC.
I went to a session this morning led by Elise Bauer, author of Simply Recipes, on “Building Traffic Through Content and Community.” It was so helpful and informative. I also got to network with a bunch of other health and fitness bloggers. I’ve got LOTS of new blogs to read!
Lunch
Lunch was fun boxes again. I’m probably the only person who gets excited about boxed lunches!
Today’s choices:
- Asian Chicken Salad with fruit + roll + cherry chocolate bar
- Deli Meat Sandwich with fruit + pasta salad + cherry chocolate bar
- Spinach Wrap with fruit + pasta salad + blondie
- Greek plate with fruit + pasta salad + blondie
I had the Greek plate and half of mom’s wrap. On the plate:
- Hummus (really good!!!)
- Celery
- Feta
- Olives
- Garlic (didn’t eat that)
- Tomatoes
- 3 pitas
- Fruit salad
- A blondie (ate 2/3 of it)
- Pasta salad (didn’t eat it)
- Spinach wrap with mushrooms and pepperjack (ate all)
The wrap was quite good!
So was the hummus. It was kind of lemony with herbs –
An Hour A Year
I was lucky to have my good friend from CalorieKing Chelsea come to the Westin for a quick visit during a break in the conference. I actually met Chelsea for the first time in person when I was here on my honeymoon a year ago and we had dinner together (and our husbands!). That was our 2007 hour meeting. Here is the 2008 one:
She’s 6 months pregnant and it was so fun to see her in person!!
Chelsea brought me a handful of lemons from her parents’ garden!!! I already made lemonade from lemons once today (early AM workout!) so perhaps these are better suited for lemon bars! Thanks Chels!
See you guys LATE tonight!

You blogged before I even got home! In all fairness I stopped at DSW and got some more supportive flip flops (the official shoe of the pregnant lady).
It was great to see you!

Glad you got to see the farmer’s market this morning. Have a great time at the Macy’s party!

Those are the best boxed lunches I’ve ever seen.

you sound so excited, i love it!
and i agree with justy: oh my GOD that boxed lunch looks like an amazing bounty of awesomeness!
your run looked so amazing, too. it made me want to go to blogher despite my loooooow profile blog 🙂

I agree that that boxed lunch looks amazing.
Those don’t happen to be Meyer lemons, do they? Because if they are, you are in for a real treat.

this totally looks like my kind of conference! i have a super short attention span and get disinterested/bored/distracted really easily when listening to someone talk/lecture. once i started bringing my laptop to class with me, i could multitask – take good notes while also staying awake and doing other things like surfing and/or reading up on stuff. some professors have complained that this behaviour is rude, but it’s the only thing that keeps me awake through boring classes.
although i’m sure that the actual talks were interesting and informative, i love that it’s okay, even encouraged, to blog away while you listen.
i’ve blogged on and off since before it was cool to blog (around 2001ish). this makes me want to get more serious about it.
haya says
oh also! will you share a list of the new blogs you discovered? or at least some of the good ones?
Foodie (Fab and Delicious Food) says
Mmmmm, that wrap looks good!

That is so weird – I had a spinach wrap today too!
Congrats on all the fun – and thanks for bringing us along with you!

I had the hummus plate too (and also decided to not eat the pasta salad or garlic cloves). I had the wrap yesterday and it was so full of onions, very disappointing for me…
It was great meeting you today!

Chelsea ,
I love DSW! I really enjoyed our visit too 😉
sarah ,
You should come – you’d learn a TON!! I think 19% of the attendees here don’t even have blogs yet, so you’re already ahead of the game!
haya ,
I have stack of about 50 business cards (maybe more!?) of cool bloggers I’ve met. Everything from professional blogs to mom blogs. I’ll try to do a post recap of all of them this week.
Jill – GlossyVeneer,
Ewww onions! That’s exactly why I avoided that wrap yesterday 🙂 Today’s was “clean” though despite saying there were roasted ones on the menu card. I’m sad to go home!
