A fun end to my weekend with the girls!
We got in a little bit more beach time in between rain clouds
And then headed inside for much-needed showers and decorations
Meredith’s October wedding has a cowgirl boot theme, so boots and hats were brought out
As well as this hilarious garter holster!
We each wore a badge for the night –
Mine read “Ridin’ Shotgun” in honor of my little rider
We headed out for an early dinner at Eurasia!
I was in charge of the dinner reservations for the weekend, and the group was very very happy with the choices – so was I! It’s hard to choose restaurants based on websites and menus alone, but we really picked two amazing places. Eurasia’s menu was totally awesome and the atmosphere perfect for our event. It’s located in a strip mall, so I was a bit nervous, but once inside we were pleasantly surprised:
We started with two plates of oysters – raw for some, cooked for others
Meredith and I shared both a salad and an entrée – the “Down on the Farm” salad came with summery veg, goat cheese and croutons that tasted like hushpuppies!! Loved it! [This was half, so the portion was perfect]
And for our entrée we shared the “Booya Baisse” ….Seared Halibut fish … steamed mussels, clams and shrimp … fennel/saffron fume broth … rouille … grilled bread
Delicious!! We both loved the saffron broth
The other girls shared the shrimp and grits – which were served on a Smoked Gouda Stone Grit Cake, so Meredith and I added one to our order being G.R.I.T.S. ourselves (girls raised in the south : ) )
Yum! It was so thick it was like eating cake!
5 girls, 3 desserts!!!
My favorite was by far the Red Velvet S’mores – homemade marshmallow, ganache, red velvet cake!
We also shared a Mascarpone-Strawberry Cheesecake
And this Peanut Butter Chocolate Bomb!!
As the DD, I dropped the girls off for their evening festivities (a comedy show) and then hit the road back to Cville.
Miles to go before I sleep, but my gosh the reward of my own bed and sleeping husband was so sweet at midnight! The drive wasn’t bad at all once I got out of the Hampton area (and that scary tunnel!) – just peaceful highway. Thanks to my mom for talking to me for an hour to keep me company! And Delilah for her one-way conversation as well.
This morning, I unpacked and started weekly laundry while Matt made us peach pancakes with the Great Harvest mix!
Just simple peach slices embedded inside with sunbutter and coconut
And iced coffee with mint!
Karen, Matt and I ate on the porch while our little mascot entertained us:
She was “stuck” in this position with her eyes closed for about 5 minutes, which had us all laughing
And then she spent another 5 minutes in this one!
Hilarious Pumpkin.
We’re hoping to spend most of today in that pose as well. Unpacking, relaxing and then later this afternoon, helping Karen with her move. I have been recruited to be in charge of organizing the kitchen cabinets and drawers!! Wheee!

Some of the best restaurants are located in strip malls! Love the “booya baisse” name and I want some mussels!
Brie @ Coxswain's Dilemma says
The cowboy boots are brilliant!!
Khushboo says
Coffee and mint- did that combo work??
KathEats says
Yup!

Looks like such a fun time! Just wanted to add that I would love to recruit you to do my kitchen too (and a few closets, drawers, entire rooms….) If you come to Portland, I’ll babysit in exchange!
But seriously, enjoy your day. Will Karen be living close you all still?
KathEats says
🙂 I would love to. Perhaps when my kids are grown I will start an organization business.
Yes, she’s moving much closer than she was
Jeri says
Glad you made it back safely.
As I laid in bed thinking about breakfast I asked myself, “What would Kathy eat on a pretty Sunday?” I was thinking oatmeal. Then I said no it’s Sunday…. Pancakes! Hot diggity dog! I was right. And I have peaches that need to be used up, but you have blueberries stuck in my head now. Maybe I go to Kohr and get some
Custard too

oh i’m realizing the ring isn’t in the post – it lights up and flashes though when you turn it, right?

The Smoked Gouda Stone Grit Cake – wow!
Love the cowboy/girl boots and that mini gun and holster…what a great theme. G.R.I.T.S. — love it.
Good luck with helping Karen move…nothing like a real low key weekend for you, eh? 🙂
Carrie @ Nutrition by Carrie says
Ahhhhh…I want a cat! Although my golden retriever, Dug, spends about half of each day in that last pose, which is pretty darn cute, too!
Paula says
I think Pumpkin has moved in with you. You may as well petition for the official adoption because when a cat moves in they just stay no matter what you want. I love her. But I’m a softy when it comes to cat who need someone to love them. Which is why we have Bob.

Looks like you had so much fun this weekend! Good eats (like always) too! 🙂
Errign says
I totally don’t mean this in a rude way, but isn’t your bakery in a strip mall? Shouldn’t judge businesses by their locations! Hole-in-the-wall & strip mall type joints usually have the best food.
KathEats says
I wouldn’t call our center a strip mall (we avoided them specifically when location hunting) but it is not a stand alone building either – somewhere in the middle. I admit it’s a general statement for sure, but also one based on my personal experiences. It just seems unusual to find such a fancy restaurant in one. Charlotte did have more of them tucked away like that.

It looks like you all had a fun time!
Organizing is what you do best 🙂 I would want you to organize my kitchen/whole house as well 🙂

I’m glad your restaurant choices worked out! It can be hard to judge a restaurant unless you have a review from a fellow foodie… websites can be so deceiving! 😛

I’ve never had mint iced coffee! Did you steep the mint in the cold brew overnight?
KathEats says
no it was just a garnish

A peanut chocolate bomb sounds like something I would be all over! I have a bit of a PB obsession at the moment.
