Somehow we managed to sleep for 10 hours last night!? We were awoken by a friendly alarm clock: Matt’s brother Andrew calling from New Orleans at 8am to let us know he was on a nice walk home from a night of partying. That wild monkey!
I made a smashing bowl of oats today!!! I say I because Matt removed his oats from the pot before I stirred in the pumpkin. He still says he doesn’t fancy the orange mix-in!
Orange Ya Glad I Still Have 3 Cans Of Pumpkin Mix
- 1/3 cup oats, milk
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tbsp chia
- Half banana
- Pinch salt
- 1/2 cup pumpkin, stirred in at end
- 1/4 cup cottage cheese, stirred in at end
- Hemp Plus granola
- Coconut
- Chocolate Vanilla Almond Butter by Naturally Nutty
I’m not sure where my grandmother got this tea towel – but how appropriate for a foodie!
Kristy @ KristyRuns says
10 hours of sleep!?!? That is amazing, and I am slightly jealous. 😉 Love that tea towel!
Baking 'n' Books says
I got sleep too….but from over-sleeping, which I really shouldn’t do because it is really time that a lot could be accomplished.
I think Matt’s brother had a funner night 🙂
cathyb@brightbakes says
I haven’t had pumpkin oats in faaarr to long…My Mister is like Matt…loves oats, but just doesn’t ‘get’ the pumpkin thing…So odd 😉 Pumpkin are my favorite…esp. with a bit of cottage cheese stirred in…(my personal fav KERF trick) 🙂

Have a great weekend!! :]
Amanda @ The Hungry Wanderers says

Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
My husband is in Seattle right now and I got the 12am (Atlanta time) phone call where his night was just starting! I also enjoyed some pumpkin oats this morning. With the cold and rain today, it just seemed appropriate. Have a great day Kath!

Lucky you two for getting 10 hours of sleep last night! That must feel glorioousss
Stacey (The Home-Cooked Vegan) says
Is there a difference between a tea towel and a dish towel? I feel kind of silly for asking this! 🙂 Happy Saturday!
Mom says
Fun question! My mom always called them “tea towels.’ I googled it, and it said a tea towel is a cloth for drying dishes, either linen or cotton. I have a hunch “tea towel” is more old timey. I hope it doesn’t die away though–a sweet expression.
KathEats says
I think a tea towel is used for drying and a dish towel is a wash-cloth like thing you use as a sponge in the sink?
Mom says
Yes, that might be right!
staceyhealthylife says
What a party animal. Coming home at 8am. That totally is New Orleans. I have been their and can relate.

Even though it is March I’m still enjoying pumpkin oats! However, I had to buy a it on several occasions since the season ended.
Stacy @ Every Little Thing says
I love Mardi Gras! Just something about it. St. Louis has the 2nd biggest celebration in the country (after NOLA of course), and it’s going on right this very second, but I’ve been sick the past couple weeks and now that I’m feeling better, didn’t want to spend the morning drinking, so we stayed home 🙂
AJ @ Flowing to Fifty says
I’m with Matt – no orange in oatmeal. Pumpkin pie…yes. Oatmeal…..I don’t think so. Unless there’s enough brown sugar and pumpkin pie spice to pretend. 🙂
Alaina says
I love those long sleeps that help rejuvinate. 🙂
I had coconut in my oatmeal this morning too! I think it’s my new favorite topping. Along with pumpkin and nuts, it tastes like a Thanksgiving side dish.
Allison @ Happy Tales says
Ha! I STILL can’t believe that Matt doesn’t like pumpkin (but then again, I still think that maybe it’s because he’s so loving that he’s leaving it all for YOU! hehe)
And those tea-towels are SUPER adorable! Props to g-ma 🙂
Katelyn @ Chef Katelyn says
That is such an adorable tea towel!! Slash he is a wild monkey, haha walk of shame at 8am:)

This reminds me of how sad I am that I was only 19 when I visited New Orleans. I really need to go back there and do it right! 😉
Holly @ Couch Potato Athlete says
That towel is super cute! Jason also doesn’t like pumpkin mixed in with oats — I’m not sure why since he can probably eat an entire pumpkin pie by himself since he loves it so much.
Teresa (Teresa Tastes & Travels) says
That’s so funny! We have the same exact scenario happening over here. I’ve tried telling Chris that pumpkin pie is not a vegetable, to no success.
Namaste Gurl says
I have yet to try cottage cheese in oatmeal! I bet it goes most excellent with pumpkin and nut butter 🙂 I wish I had me some pumpkin, unfortunately I wasn’t smart like you and didn’t stock up when it was cheap in stores….
Jessica - Dinners, Desserts, & More says
I am not a huge fan of pumpkin in oats. I thought I would love it since I love everything pumpkin but sadly the pumpkin in oats was not my thing
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
10 hours sounds glorious! I only got 7 last night, and that definitely wasn’t enough!
Katherine says
Oh wow, I went to Mardi Gras about 100 years ago. I am feeling very old! I would kill for 10 hours of sleep. Maybe it’ll happen tonight. These days I’m lucky if I can stay asleep for 6. Again, maybe an age issue. LOL.
Kristen, Sweetly says
Oh, my. Whether your breakfasts look like spring or fall, they look gorgeous and delicious! I’m so glad I have an open can of pumpkin in the refrigerator. I might have to have a second breakfast this afternoon. 🙂

chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
I wish I could sleep for 10 hours at a time! That would be amazing!!
Stephanie says
Those oats are beauty! I’m of the opinion that if your body sleeps for 10 hours…it’s because your body needs 10 hours of sleep.

Now I need to get some pumpkin. 10 hrs = beautiful

Sleeping 10 hours sounds like a great idea! I tend to cap off around 7ish hours! 🙂
