Donuts replenished!! Whole wheat cinnamon raisin English muffins from The Bread Basket, a local bakery here in Cville. They are simply divine!
One side had chocolate goat cheese and raspberry jam
And the other had sunflower butter and jam!
I was going to put pumpkin yogurt on top, but I find that it’s more difficult to eat and borders on too soggy, so I had it on the side. 1/2 a cup of Oikos mixed with half a cup of Libby’s with cinnamon and chia seeds and some of Nuts About Granola’s Ambrosial – with little kibbles of dried mangos!
Deliciiiiious coffee!
I had company for breakfast!
Kibbles + bits.
These kitties always scare me when they appear around my feet when I’m out shooting!
Yes, I would love to have a kitty. But Matt is very very very allergic to cat dander. [He’ll sniff every second for an entire day if he pets one.] We wouldn’t invest in a hypoallergenic cat or fancy drugs for Matt either, so we will never be a cat family, but I do love them!
But we do love playing with them on our porch!
Purr.
Christie {Nourishing Eats} says
Hahah, I love the kitty sniffing your breakfast. That is so freaking cat like. Sorry to hear Matt is allergic. I have three cats and have friends that can’t come over because of it 🙁
KathEats says
It’s storebought
Valerie @ City|Life|Eats says
What a cute kitty. Great breakfast too! Did you post a recipe for the chocolate goat cheese? I must have missed that.
Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg says
Awww, glad you’re getting some kitty love, even though y’all can’t own one! There’s something about having animals around that’s so nice!
Love your bowl!
Amanda (tomboy that wears makeup) says
UGH, ME TOO. soo allergic to cats. My boyfriend LOVES cats… “sorry babe we can’t get one”… they are cute, but they make me sick..
Trish @I_am_Succeeding says
Awe, we love our cats and they must sniff everything! LOL One even sits begging just like a dog when we eat…good thing she is just so adorable!
Allie (Live Laugh Eat) says
I’m also extremely allergic to cats…seeing one at my feet would make me drop my camera! That one sure is a cutie though.
Eliz@The Sweet Life says
what a beautifully-colored plate, topped with a delicious-looking breakfast!
Alaina says
I love cats too but my husband is allergic as well. And he just doesn’t like them. Boo.
I love trying new coffee, especially from a local shop. In Boston, it’s Red Barn Coffee. Did you try their coffee when you were up here? If I send you some, you wanna send over some Shenandoah Joe? 😉
KathEats says
I didn’t have any! I’d love to try it, but I hate going to the post office so I’ll have to look for it next time I’m up there!
Alaina says
Definitely! They have a shop in Faneuil Hall in Boston. When I make it down to VA, I’ll have to check out Joe’s 🙂
Holly @ Couch Potato Athlete says
Jason is super allergic to cats (and dogs!) too — there is no way we could have an animal.
Do you feed the cats that hang around your neighborhood?
KathEats says
We dont’ feed them a bit – they just love us 🙂
Christine says
I bet they just want their picture on the website! 😛
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
Cats…what’s not to love? Breakfast looks perfect! Great way to start the day!
Jil @ Big City, Lil Kitchen says
So jealous of the fact that you can enjoy your breakfast outside! ..this makes me want to move to the South!
Dani says
Ditto!
Christine @ Merf In Progress says
Okay, I’ve seen a few people post pumpkin yogurt, and I definitely need to get on the bandwagon. Looks delicious.
Amanda- The Nutritionist Reviews says
Looks like an awesome filling breakfast! I love putting different condiments on each side of my english muffin too.
Katie @ cooklaughmove says
Awww, I love orange kitties! Breakfast looks great too!
chelsea says
i am also very allergic to cats..which makes me not like them since they make me miserable with sneezing and sniffling. but lately ive been dog sitting for a lady who has 2 cats (as long as i dont touch them, im okay) but they are so snuggly and wanna be all over me and are so cute, its hard to say no..so then i start sneezing. sad!
Heather (heathers dish) says
Yum…those muffins look insane! I must find something like that in boulder!
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
I’m not really a cat person, but those ones are really cute! I like the idea of having a pet to cuddle with, but I’m not sure I’d be so good at taking care of it since I have to be at work every day and have enough trouble cleaning up after myself!! Brekkie looks delicious as usual! 🙂
Marci says
That breakfast looks delicious and so filling! The pictures look like mickey mouse ears. You never talk about dogs, I get sniffles around cats but not our dog.
Justeen @ Blissful Baking says
Fabulous breakfast, as always! I’m going to try pumpkin yogurt with chia seeds for lunch – it looks so tasty!!
Amber K says
I’m allergic to cats too, but I really don’t mind. I have never liked them! Dog-person all the way!!
Stacy @ Every Little Thing says
I am not a huge cat fan, mostly because of the allergies. It’s hard for me to even spend time at someone’s house if they have a cat.
Dogs are much better! 🙂
KJ says
If you want a pet but can’t get a cat because of Matt’s allergies you should get adopt a rabbit! Mine is litterbox trained so he hops all over the house, and he definitely has a little personality and loves to play/snuggle with us. My dad is also allergic to most animals so we couldn’t get a cat or dog, but he is fine around the rabbit. Also, one would fit right in with you and Matt and your love of fresh veggies!!
KathEats says
Awww sounds cute, but I don’t think we’re up for rabbit care!
Anne W Falk says
I think it’s funny how the neighborhood cats all visit you. It seems the more allergic a person is to cats the more they want to be near you.
Kate (What Kate is Cooking) says
I am loving the chocolate goat cheese and jam combination! That’s such a sweet cat. I want one, but I’m allergic to!
Susan Mc says
I think it is just lovely that so many neighborhood cats oblige your need for a kitty fix by visiting often, they are such insightful and knowing creatures! And Matt stays healthy!
All you need to do is look at the face of Miss Lillis Billis to see that … I love her pics, she has SUCH a unique, beguiling face! 🙂
KathEats says
Love that you called her Lillis Billis!!
Tina @ Faith Fitness Fun says
Chocolate goat cheese?! Now there’s a flavor combo that I would love to try.
Emily @ One Sweet Vegan says
I love cats and would love to have one as part of our family, but my husband, step-daughter, and son are all allergic to them. I wish some neighborhood cats would visit me!
Katelyn @ Chef Katelyn says
I am a die-hard english muffin lover! I have never tried sunflower seed butter, maybe it’s about time I make some!:)
Emily says
Great looking breakfast, definitely jealous of the outdoors photos and warm temps you guys are having 🙂
Ashley says
I was watching throw down w/bobby flay the other day and it was a brownie challenge. The challenger made their famous dark chocolate brownies with a layer of goat cheese inside! Sounds like a super interesting combination. 🙂
Kara says
That stinks that he’s allergic! Is he allergic to dogs too?
As usual, your breakfast looks awesome 🙂
Christine says
On the bright side, no cat means no litter box or scratched up furniture!
Katy (The Singing Runner) says
Pretty kitty! 😀 I love how when I looked at your breakfast, the first thing I thought was “hidden Mickey!” Haha. 😉 Oh, I’m just a Disney girl at heart.
Jasmine @ Eat Move Write says
I love cats and my husband is allergic, too! It sucks. We’re going to become a dog family eventually.
Lee @ Fit Foodie Finds says

I think they spied the “Mickey Mouse” theme you had going on with your plates. How sneaky of them… 😉
Lily's Health Pad says
Ah, I feel sorry for you. I can’t imagine life without my naughty and handsome cat. I think there are a couple kinds of hypoallergenic cats…I don’t think they’re all really expensive. Maybe if you looked into it more…
Courtney (Pancakes & Postcards) says
gorgeous kitty!
Stacie @ Imperfectly Healthy says
I’m also super allergic to cats! My parents got two and now have to make them stay outside when we come to visit. They’re so cute, which it makes it really difficult not to pet them!
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
Love that breakfast!
Emily @ Savory and Savage says
The best shot? The one where the cat is looking up at the camera. 🙂
WendyF says
Tabby cats rock 🙂 Also I second Red Barn coffee.
Dawn (HealthySDLiving) says
Aww cute! I’m allergic to cats as well – the second I get around one I look like I got punched in the face. :/
J says
I’m new to your blog, totally entranced, and totally wondering: HOW ON EARTH do you eat so much and look so good? What do you do? Really, I mean, do you work out 2 hours a day? I can’t believe the quantities of food you eat! Amazed, and hopefully I figure out your secret. I’ll be checking your blog whenever I have time. Love the photos.
KathEats says
It’s not as much as it seems!! Real Food means you can eat more than if you’re eating more calorie dense stuff. And I need 1800+ calories to live healthfully, so when you’re eating good quality food, it takes a lot to reach that number. I also don’t really snack!
Baking 'n' Books says
That’s alot?! I actually find it’s not a lot especially for being so active. But everyone is different so you have to do what works for you 🙂
Eileen says
Wait until you read some more … for every person who thinks Kath eats too much, there’s someone who thinks she eats too little! 🙂 You’ll get some great food ideas here!
Baking 'n' Books says
I love your pretty bowls! Caitlin on HTP has something similar in the shape of a Maple Leaf (I think). Makes the picture even more ‘quintessential’ (spelling?!).
Ellie @ The Mommyist says
If you really love cats maybe you can get lucky and find a hypoallergenic cat at an animal shelter. If you can find fancy dogs there i don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to find a fancy cat. Just a thought…
Kiran says
We had our breakfast at the patio today and it was blissful 🙂 Love the signs of spring!
Flo says
I wonder why they’re called English muffins…in my entire life I’ve never met anyone who eats them here in England!! lol
JenATX says
meow!
Allison @ Happy Tales says
Oh goodness! Is he alleric to dander from dogs, too?! Or just cats…
I used to be pretty allergic to cats when I was kid growing up. But somehow I grew out of it. Still have yet to own a cat though, I’m totally a dog person (i mean, obviously… i created my blog about my pup afterall… ha!)
Stacey (The Home-Cooked Vegan) says
English muffins are great for breakfast! Hehe 🙂 We have a cat that comes around everytime we eat outdoors too! He likes to climb on my lap and sniff my plate…I’m not to fond of that, though 😉
Christin@purplebirdblog says
I had a gluten-free chocolate goat cheese brownie at our farmer’s market last year…. sooo amazing!
Kira @ hernewleaf says
This looks like the best breakfast ever! I’m so jealous!
Krissy - Shiawase Life says
I love that the pic of the oats + english muffins taken overhead looks like a hidden mickey =D also, a big fan of when you feature local products in your post because they inspire me to go out and try them!!!
Amelia (Eating Made Easy) says
I am so jealous of a) chocolate goat cheese and b) whole wheat cinnamon raisin English muffins! I wish I lived next to that bakery too…yummmmm
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says
I’m allergic to cats too. 🙁
Love your plate and bowl!
Hannah says
Ah! That looks like one of the best breakfasts better! Aside from the half block of chocolate I ate for mine, of course 😉
stacey-healthylife says
That orange kitty really wants to be your friend, and part of your family.
Maddie (Healthy Maddie) says
Aww the kitty is so cute!
Shannon says
I am allergic to cats and everything else under the sun and allergy shots have made a huge difference. It is immunotherapy, so sort of a homeopathic approach to treatment. Not sure if it is something Matt wants to consider, not necessarily to get to the point that you can own a cat, but to improve his quality of life when he encounters one. It is a big commitment- usually weekly shots for years. When I am off my allergy meds now, I feel how I used to fell ON them, if that makes any sense.
Meghan says
Haha, maybe you could get the hairless cats!
Rachel @ Healthy Teacher says
Looks.So.Good.
Britta says
I used to be super allergic to cats until I started getting allergy shots. Now we have two and I’m totally fine. Has Matt ever thought of doing that?
Melissa A. says
What do you put in your coffee? It always has an interesting colour to it and I am curious.
KathEats says
Just a tbsp or so of 1% milk
Maria @ The Fitted Apron says
chcocolate goat cheese sounds m-azing! your breakfast looks fun and delish.
