Today’s lunch started off with a spinach salad dressed in lemon olive oil and agave with sea salt, black pepper and Garlic Gold Herbed Nuggets. Veggies included carrot, green pepper, and lightly steamed broc. Sooooo refreshing!
CHOBANI sent me a surprise pack of flavors!! <3 <3 <3 the pineapple!! Served with a few tbsp of granola and a few chopped almonds.
Lastly, more of my local strawberries 🙂
Silverware.
I am surprising the RD office with some samples today. Genesis Today sent me these Dark Chocolate Acai puddings and I can’t eat them all on my own, so I’m sharing 🙂 These are made with milk and are all natural. They also are rich in antioxidants from the cacao and acai berry and have 3 grams of protein and 3 grams of fiber each. Impressive! Certainly one of the better puddings out there if you’re a pudding eater. I’ll report back tonight how they were received!
I’m also taking in a juice bar – Genesis Today‘s Goji Berry and Acai (which I have yet to try), a POM (old faithful!) and a new juice: Cheribundi, an all-natural cherry-based drink with 50 cherries per bottle! All of these superfruit juices claim tens of thousands of mg of berry per bottle with an ORAC (antioxidant rating of 3000+). It’s nice to know you’re getting some concentrated nutrients in these little bottles when you don’t have goji or acai berries growing in your backyard. I love juices but I like to use them sparingly due to their concentration of sugar, so I’ll likely spike my afternoon water bottle with some of these for a punch of flavor without the sugar or calories. I also like to use them to spike smoothies!
Planned afternoon snack – a pudding and a few nuts for garnish!
I’m planning to get in that swim I missed on Saturday this afternoon. But I might be too tired from sleeplessness. We’ll see…
Sarah-Mae @ Eat, Run, Knit says
Mmmm, now I can’t wait for my lunch! I have strawberries too!!!
I agree with you on the juice front, I have had the same bottle of Simply Orange juice in my fridge for the past month and it’s still only half gone. Must. Use. Juice!

Jessica @ How Sweet says
Love that spoon!
That pudding sounds good. Would love to try some!
Ellie says
MMM.. . Those strawberries look amazing! I also love Chobani but have not had the pineapple kind- I stick to boring kinds like honey usually
wendy @ ABCs and Garden Peas says
I love using juice to amp up my water bottle! I always knew to water it down, but really had to make it a habit after a bout with gestational diabetes.
Good juice is expensive, but it goes so far if you water it down! Full strength just tastes like pure sugar water to me now!
Pretty spoon!
Megan @ The Oatmeal Diaries says
LOVE your spoon. And I can’t wait to try Pineaple Chobani!
Erin (Travel, Eat, Repeat) says
I’m so thrilled to have strawberries back in season. So fresh, so sweet, so juicy. Yum!

Chloe (Naturally Frugal) says
Your little spoon is SO cute! I’ve just gotten introduced to chobani, and am trying it out to see if I can tolerate it better than other dairy products. Although, we only have non-fat at my grocery store right now & I want something with a little more oomph!
Lisa (Lisa at Home) says
Love the silverware! And that cherry juice is calling my name !
Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin says

Pineapple chobanis are the greatest! I wish they would come out with a lemon flavor. Mm…
I love “spiking” my water with juice as well. It adds a nice hint of sweetness and flavor without overdoing the sugar. 😀
Funky Lady says
I would love to try that pudding…but I’ve never seen it before. I’ll have to keep on the lookout for it!
kate says
Its so strange that you talked about this sample today because last night I was talking to my boyfriend about how lately I just wanted some pudding, but I didnt know of any healthy-ish options. My prayers have been answered! I wonder if I can find this around town! As for the swim, you can always take some leisurely laps!
lynn (The Actors Diet) says
mmm i love pudding and am always looking for a “better” on-the-go version.
Amber K says
The pineapple flavor of Chobani is definitely the best followed closely by raspberry. Which is hilarious to me because I find actual raspberries to be entirely too tart!
Jessica @ The Process of Healing says
That pudding sounds really good!!
Mary says
Woah, what fun looking puddings! I love reading your blog, as you always have the best foods 🙂
And you’re so sweet too!

Loving (organic) strawberries lately, too, and excited for the price to keep coming down — along with that of blueberries — as the season nears peak!
Veggielady4life says
I think that’s a great idea to spike your water bottle with juice! Sometimes, I shy away from drinking any juice because of the sugar content, but that’s a nice way to get in the flavor without all the sugar/calories!
Wei-Wei says
Mmmm, looks like a lovely fresh lunch! I love broccoli… 😀 And strawberries! Yay!
Your silverware is too cute, by the way… loving the swirly-handle spoon! (Oh, and the puddings sound great too… :D)
Have a great day!

Kath,
I discovered your blog a while ago, and I love it. I have been making many changes to my diet over the last several months and you have been a bit of a resource/inspiration. Making better decisions somehow feels easier when you know that other people are living the same way. You even inspired some oatmeal over at my blog. (http://stillplayinghouse.blogspot.com/2010/03/elvis-oatmeal.html)
How is it that you get so many free samples? Do you request them?
p.s. Next week I am going back to school…starting some prereqs for a local Dietetics program!
Kath says
Thanks Amy!
Mandiee says
yum! i absolutely adore giant salads. how big are yours usually? i can never seem to get the amount right :-/. also, i think your spoon is the cutest. i’m a firm believer that special dishes and silverware can make meal times even more fun (as if they weren’t great enough already haha).
i love your comment about acai and gojis. it’s nice to know we have some superfruit in our own backyards (esp since i live in michigan and the cherry festival here is INSANE.)
have a lovely day!
