The Jam According to Daniel cherries in my oats this morning were squealing with jubilee, much like a certain gymnast was last night!
Matt and I stayed up until 10:30 and then went to bed. Staying up till 11:30 for the team final threw us off too much! But we set an alarm and had breakfast together this morning while watching the ending of the individual all-around final. Exciting!!
In the bowl today:
Coach’s oats, milk, water, frozen bananas, chia seeds, cottage cheese, cherry jam and almond butter
Hot tea
Friday dance somersault!

I’m pretty sure the entire country is sleep deprived thanks to the Olympics…and the fact that NBC insists on broadcasting the good stuff so late. Once every 4 years though…
Molly @ RDexposed says
I admire your dedication! I fall aleep at 8pm, catching only a glimpse of the games.
Kaila says
Aaaaaah I need to get some cherries! Perfect summer fruit and I haven’t had any yet! Need to get on that!
Caroline @ After Dinner Dance says
I hate how late the good sports keep going! Luckily, today is my last day of work so I decided to skimp on sleep and watch til the end last night. I won’t spoil in case you haven’t heard who wins!
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
I’ve been topping everything with cherries lately! They are so sweet this season.
I found myself awake at 1:30a watching ping pong. Oy.
Katie @ Peace Love and Oats says
I keep meaning to get some preserves to put in my oatmeal, it looks so good!
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
I really have missed watching the summer Olympics. But I’ve enjoyed hearing about some pretty awesome wins!

How stinking cute was Gabby last night? I just wanted to give her a big hug.
We were up until midnight last night watching! I’m going to be so sad when it’s over but it will be nice to get back to a normal sleep pattern again, that’s for sure!
Averie @ Averie Cooks says
the cherries next to the AB, the way they are reflecting and illuminated, mmmm, I want to cherry pick them out! literally!
Suz@avocadoandbasil says
Love the placemat and the jam looks so good!
Lauren says
What kind of cherries are those? I’ve never tried cherries in my oats, but cherry yogurt is definitely a favorite – sadly, I hardly ever buy fresh cherries because of the hassle of pits. They really can be so delicious!

The Mrs @ Success Along the Weigh says
This is making me look forward to going to Michigan where they just had the cherry festival. I guess they have a ton of great preserved stuff they sell in the fall with cherries that I can’t wait to scoop up and put on my oatmeal!
Have a great weekend!
Wesley @ the way home says
I tried so hard to stay up too! I didn’t make it to the floor routines but I knew she was going to win!
Liz @ Tip Top Shape says
I absolutely love that place mat you took the pictures on! How pretty!!
Rachel says
Breakfast looks fantastic!
Jennifer says
This breakfast looks delectable and super filling. I’m feeling guilty about the chai tea latte and scone I am currently devouring, especially knowing that it will not fill me and I’ll be starved soon after. I have oatmeal at the office but I need to bring a few more items to make a breakfast more like this. I can’t eat before work because I feel sick if I eat that early so I need to have something available at the office.
Amanda M says
Luckily I am working nights right now and have nothing better to do (although I am seriously behind everyone here in Alaska). Rock on, Olympics!
Julia H. @ Going Gulia says
At first I thought those were tomatoes in your oatmeal! Apparently my brain is not functioning yet this morning, haha. I’ve never seen cherry jam with such whole cherries in there like that…is that homemade or store bought?
KathEats says
Homemade locally
Elisabeth says
I stayed up for the whole thing, but I’m used to being up late (third shifter). I was definitely tearing up with her 😉
Jasmine @ learning to feed yourself says
I definitely thought those were tomorrows at first too haha! Cherry + almond butter sounds really yummy though. I need to start mixing up my oatmeal. I pretty much stick with peanut butter banana.
Jasmine @ learning to feed yourself says

Mornin’ Kath! I’ll be in Charlotte next weekend and was wondering if you could recommend a fun outdoor activity/park/hike/swim in the area? I already have Y2 Yoga on my list of things to do 🙂 Any other recommendations on your favorite spots for food/drink would be greatly appreciated!
KathEats says
The McMullen Creek Greenway is my favorite walking/running spot. Crowder’s Mountain is fun too if you have time for a hike! I really like Zink (Southpark) and Sonoma Modern (uptown) for restaurants and I hear Cowfish is awesome!
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
Wow, you are dedicated! I love the Olympics but I’m terrible at staying up late so I’d have probably fallen asleep by about 9! Have a fab Friday Kath!
Andrea says
Did you just put frozen banana chunks in your oats when you started them? Did they “melt” better than fresh banana?
KathEats says
Yes and yes!
KathEats says
(Although they probably melted better because it was supppper ripe when I froze it)
Annette @FitnessPerks says
I haven’t gotten to bed on time because of watching some of the Olympics too! So obsessed. MUST. sleep.soon!
Caro says
I’ve seen you use cottage cheese in oatmeal a number of times on your blog now (I read regularly, but don’t comment very often – sorry!), what does it taste like? I just can’t bring myself to try it for some reason, although I’m probably just missing out bigtime!
Glad you are enjoying the olympics! The atmosphere is incredible over here in the UK, the whole country is buzzing with olympic fever!
KathEats says
I compare to a cheese danish!
MommyPage says
That looks yummy. Cherries in oats is a great idea. I hope you enjoyed it,
Ellen @ Wannabe Health Nut says
Oh man, I always have serious oatmeal envy when I read your blog! 🙂
Lexi @ You, Me, & A World to See says
I would have had a big ole jubilee on my face if I was eating those oats too this morning 🙂
Angel7 says
It is a “jubilee” of a day when I actually get some okay sleep at night! Today was one of those “jubilee” type of days 🙂
Get Bright Hook Up Highlighter
Angel7 says
It is late, & I am not sure why I put in “Get Bright Hook Up Highlighter” 🙂 Maybe I need highlighter on my face on the days that I do not get much sleep (LOL)

I woke up this morning to find that my mother took the last of the ripe bananas! I literally put a sad face.. lol. So just when i was about to make stove top oatmeal without bananas.. i remembered that you put in frozen bananas in yours and that made a ring in my head! LOL so it was a great idea, and it really helped too.. i just notice that its a bit more sweeter and not sure if its just me but i think since I put it in there frozen.. it might have released some water? Its a good thing I put less almond milk this morning.
KathEats says
It’s probably because you rarely freeze an underripe banana
