I would know
My crazy mind was up at 5 this morning!! I consider 5am to be a normal wake-up time. 4:55am is crazy insomnia. Thus, although I didn’t get a full-night’s rest, I’m doing ok this morning.
I felt like my mom getting up before the sunrise, making tea, wrapping up my granola bars, doing some dishes and then making an early breakfast. Hard to believe I will be a real mom any day now!
I woke up starving and made a half-cup portion of whipped banana oatmeal with cottage cheese stirred in at the end of cooking. Matt’s portion is patiently waiting for him when he rises! I topped it with some crumbles of my AnneP bars that I froze and of course, sunflower butter.
Wake-me-up tea
I have such fun watching the Morning Glories! They are wide awake at dawn and tightly shut at dusk. I’ll try to snap a photo of them tonight!
No signs of labor, although I think my Braxton Hicks have become a bit more noticeable in the past 24 hours.

One good thing if the baby didn’t come today. He wouldn’t have the same bday as snooki’s baby!
KathEats says
Haha – but the 26th is a great birthday!
Amelia says
I’m so excited for you! Every time I log into my google reader or twitter I wonder if there will be a daily post (or lack of one) due to baby KERF :).
Have a fabulous Sunday!!
Jeri says
Do you guys ever just sit on the steps if the porch on beautiful mornings like today?
KathEats says
We should do that more : )
Allie@LiveLaughEat says
Come, baby, come!!!
Lynda @ Healthy Hoboken Girl says
Thinking of you and wishing you a relaxing day. Your belly is adorable!!! Maybe today will be the day!!
Krissy @ Make it Nakead says
Been thinking of you! You and my sister were side-by-side in your pregnancies and my nephew came Thursday! You’re so close! It is SUCH an exciting time.
Averie @ Averie Cooks says
Pretty bowl and cute cable knit wrap/sweater – great colors. Sorry about the insomnia!
Amanda Plyler says
Morning! I have started making this oatmeal and love it. When do you add in the chia seeds? I didn’t know if it makes a difference. Have a lovely day:)
KathEats says
I add them in the beginning : )
Amy says
Not sure about this, but doesn’t cooking the chia seeds alter the healthy EFA’s they contain? I know that is true for flax and why they recommend stirring it in at the end.
KathEats says
It’s possible, although I doubt the oatmeal gets all that hot since I don’t let it boil or anything. I eat them more for texture, protein, fiber than EFAs since ALA’s conversion rate is so small. I eat fish for my EFAs 🙂
Laura says
Is that blue item in the second picture a sweater? I love the color and it looks absolutely cozy! Glad you had such a relaxing morning–those are the best.
KathEats says
Yep – Abercrombie + Fitch circa 2000 : )
Katie @ Talk Less, Say More says
Good morning! If it makes you feel better, you weren’t the only one awake at 5 am today when they shouldn’t have been – here’s to hoping we both get some additional rest! 😉

I had timeable contractions every night for a little over a week. Every night I thought…maybe this is it…go to bed and nada. Annoying.
My midwife told me, if you think you are in labor take two Tylenol pm, drink 20oz of water, and take a bath. If you are in labor…contractions will continue, if you aren’t…you’ll be asleep!
KathEats says
I’ve heard the same – that early labor can go on for daaaaaays so it’s not something to get all excited about. Darn excitement!
Karen says
Love the cozily wrapped belly shot! I hear you on the up-too-early front – horrible night sleep over here.
I’m glad to have some rain in the forecast as I need an incentive to stay inside and get things done today. Have a nice Sunday, Kath.
Julie says
when is your due date??
KathEats says
Friday
Meal Makeover Mom Janice says
Hi Kath, I am just editing the podcast we recorded with you last month and it will go live Wednesday. Maybe that is the day your baby will arrive! Good luck and we look forward to hearing the news soon…
Sarena (The Non-Dairy Queen) says
Love that belly picture! It’s almost time!!! Have a great day Kath!
Tiffany says
It would be sweet if you had the baby today on the 26th 🙂
Wow, cville cluster is amazing!!
I called a GH near me and they said they carry groovy granola. I’m not sure if they understood when I asked if it had clusters. Lol do you know if its the same?
KathEats says
Glad you like it! Groovy is totally different – no clusters – but still good!
Kristin point says
The 4 days before labor I had a ton of Braxton hicks contractions for the first time all pregnancy. I was visiting a new friends baby and had to breathe thru them when my friend said maybe those aren’t braxton hicks anymore! Lol. So exciting I hope he comes soon!
Katie @ Peace Love & Oats says
Ahhh so close! Haha everytime I read your blog I’m waiting for the announcement!
McKenzie Morgan says
HAVE YOUR BABY THE ANTICIPATION IS KILLING ME!!!!!
KathEats says
I’ll give him the message 🙂
Molly @ RDexposed says
I love the belly shot picture! Oh and I also think that when a woman is pregnant that she is already a “real mom,” but I know what you mean. 😉
Caroline says
Every time I go on KERF I always think “Is he here yet? Is he here yet? Can’t wait for the answer to that question to be yes!!
Jennifer says
Try to be gentle with yourself. I was ten days past my due date with both of my kids. And even after having my first child, and knowing that being late was not only a possibility, but a reality, I still let my expectations/desires for an early delivery get the best of me. I, like you, am a planner. And I prefer to be in control. You will find that labor is the first reminder that you are no longer calling all of the shots, Kath. Good time to practice going with the flow. 🙂
Meagan says
I love the mug 🙂
Cait's Plate says
I keep checking the blog with baited breath waiting to say CONGRATS!!! Haha. I can only imagine how you feel!
Mom says
Everybody at church asked how you were! Alex L was back with his brand new baby boy (and wife and daughter.) Hannah wanted to have him on the 17th because it was her grandma’s birthday. She went into labor at four in the afternoon and made it on the 17th. So there’s hope for today and your lucky number. (It was her second baby though.)
KathEats says
Wow that’s fun and fast!
Tracy says
Silly Kath! You’re already a REAL mom! Your baby is just hanging out in a convenient carrier for the time being. Hoping for a 26th birthday! I always wanted one of my kids to be born on a 16th (my bday = Oct 16), but it never happened. Best of luck to you!!!!
KathEats says
🙂
Christine says
Have you noticed that you are getting more page hits because we are all anticipating BERF’s arrival?
KathEats says
Yes, I think so
j3nn says
Dustin actually loves to wake up at 4:00-4:30 am to have a bit of darkness left when everyone else is still sleeping. It’s a great time of day, but I can’t seem to be consistent with it. 🙂
KathEats says
He should be a baker 🙂
kim@hungryhealthygirl says
What a cozy post?!?! The cute little baby bump, those oats, that tea…… Can’t wait until I go to your post and see baby pics!
Christina @ The Beautiful Balance says
Is the anticipation driving you crazy? I know we are all waiting 🙂
Angel7 says
If my mind was awake at 5:00AM, I would definitely force myself to try to go back to sleep. If 5:00AM was my body’s wake-up call, I probably would not be able to function during the day.

Love all of the pictures in this post- so comforting and homey. 🙂
Travis Ehrenstrom says
I agree with you Janelle! This is slowly becoming one of my favorite blogs based on the great photography alone!
Kath, what type of camera do you use? Do you take photos with different lenses at all?
I am a huge believer in photos making or breaking your blog!
Thanks again for the really great post!
KathEats says
Thanks! I use a Canon 5D and keep my Canon 35 f/2 on all the time!
