Hope you all had lovely Valentine’s Days! It’s never been one of my favorite holidays (blah weather, expensive flowers, packed restaurants, red everywhere), but I do enjoy all the love and chocolate talk. And the romantic excuse to write gushy cards : )
(No chocolate allowed at this breakfast)
T and I went out to dinner on Monday night to celebrate finding one another. We both feel so thankful that we came together at this point in our lives. It was quite serendipitous, actually. He had been looking and looking for “the one” for years, and I had no idea if I’d ever move beyond a first date again, so we both feel so grateful.
We shared “Chocolate Many Ways” for dessert following a great meal at Hamilton’s. I am generally a vanilla girl (although, if you want to get technical, I’d go in the middle with caramel/butterscotch/toffee any day), but I do love me some chocolate when it’s dark and rich. The tall one in the back was white chocolate coconut and the front one was hazelnut. Both were outstanding!
I also got roses and a lovely card <3
I took a field trip over to Gearharts, THE place to be on February 14: chocolate heaven! I bought some toffees to give as a gift, and sampled this delicious complimentary whiskey truffle while I was there.
I missed having the other love of my life around to squeeze, but I was able to Facetime with him from Atlantis and I got a very sweet “I miss you Mommy”. They are having a great time, and he told me all about the fun water parks there. We tugged on our invisible strings.
I had a dinner-y lunch because last night I had a 9pm soccer game. Who schedules soccer games for 9pm on Valentine’s Day!? This bowl was a mash of sautéed kale and peppers, leftover rice, leftover bacon, and feta cheese. Delicious combo! I had a simple sandwich for dinner before my game – can’t have too many vegetables before playing sports.
I am taking on a new work gig not related to KERF that I will tell you all about soon. It’s exciting and a bit scary all in one! I’ve spent a lot of time gearing up for that this week.
Lastly: I watched The Bachelor yesterday, turning it on whenever I needed a little break (which I, um, made lots of excuses for!). Although I was surprised and disappointed with who Nick sent home at the end of the episode, I thought it was a great episode all around. I have no idea how this season is going to end! Please share your thoughts (and spoilers will likely be shared for those who haven’t watched yet) in the comments.
Also: just a few weeks until the new Survivor starts! Maybe this will be the season when lots of you chime in : ) It’s a returning cast of game changers!

Sounds like a nice Valentine’s Day! How did you and T meet?

We all like to see someone happy and we all want to hear more about the relationship. It’s so fun to see new love blossom! But we know sharing too much online is a bad thing. Take your time to make sure it is right. There’s plenty of time to grow this relationship.

Like you, I AMA huge Survivor fan! I love the seasons where old favorites come back the best. I’m so pumped for this season 🙂 and S for the Bachelor, I feel like this season has been so blah. I actually like Nick, but it seems like it’s been the Corrine show, and we’ve hardly seen very much of Nick’s interactions with the women at the front of the pack. And the destinations have been pretty blah. And why on earth would they announce the new Bachelorette when they did?!?
KathEats says
Totally agree!!!! And it seems like he isn’t really falling for any of them. That might just be our lack of screen time.

I am loving this season of The Bachelor! I was disappointed as well, but I am glad he is “breaking up” as soon as he realizes things aren’t going to work instead of putting the women through all of those rose ceremonies.
Survivor is my all-time favorite show! Can’t wait for the new season! Although I prefer fresh faces instead of the people who get the opportunity to play time and time again. One day I WILL be on Survivor 🙂

I am torn between fresh faces and returning players but I think I like returning more! Heroes and Villians was one of my very favorite seasons 🙂

I’m super excited for Survivor. Do you listen to Rob Has a Podcast? I love all the pre-season podcasts he has up all ready! My pick for the Bachelor was sent home yesterday 🙁
KathEats says
Yes love RHAP! I’ve listened to some of the preseasons. Wish I could get together with you all to watch!

Hi Kath,
I always appreciate your posts. Thanks for doing what you do. I am wondering if you still use your Utomic Edge case? If you do not do you mind sharing why? Thanks.
KathEats says
So unfortunately no, although I miss it! So when I had the iPhone 6s the bumpers were great. They never budged a bit. But when I upgraded to the 7, I think that its curves are maybe ever-so-off because my bumpers kept falling off. The good news is that Utomic was super responsive and sent me TWO replacement kits for free, but after I used those extras up, I didn’t want to keep bugging them. I think they will probably correct the issue soon though. I went caseless for a while and now I have a case from Casetify, but I’m not happy with this one either after a few months of use because it’s bulkier than the slim snap cases I used to get from them for the iPhone 6 and lower. So I am looking for a case I love!

I have to say I’m not enjoying this Bachelor season. I’m not a huge fan of Nick, and to be honest, I think he’s either going to be going home alone, or doing the proposal now/breakup later thing. I don’t see this working out for him. And I’m tired of seeing him — he’s not very interesting.
KathEats says
Yeah I don’t have a gut good feeling about any of the women left either. Vanessa is my favorite, but is he in love with her?
Leigh says
Probably not. And I’m sorry to say that I think she deserves better… like a lot better.

So very happy for you. Things happen for a reason in life. 🙂
I love the invisible string you mentioned. So sweet!

I am VERY excited about Survivor: Game Changers! I’ve seen every season at least once and some twice now! My husband and I rewatched Troyzan and Malcolm’s first seasons to prepare 🙂
KathEats says
You are a better fan than I am! I still have 2-3 seasons to go to have watched them all, and those few are taking me forever to commit to watching. LOVE Malcolm, and am excited to see Ozzy again too!

Can’t wait to hear about what you’ve been up to beyond KERF!

Corinne annoys the crap out of me! I mean, I understand that it’s an act and all. But that girl needs some help. I feel like she gets so much screen time because there’s not a whole lot else going on. I do appreciate that the women Nick has left to the end are intelligent, strong women (minus Corinne). I guess that strong & intelligent just don’t make for dramatic TV. I wish they would focus more on his connections with the women because, like other commenters said above, as of now it doesn’t seem like he has a connection with anyone.

I think he is most into Rachel, and I think he’ll either end up with her, or Raven. I like both of those girls a lot – they have a lot of personality and also seem so sweet.

I cannot get into this season of The Bachelor – Nick just rubs me the wrong way. He keeps sending home women that I thought were well suited for him, but what do I know. hahaha. Part of me feels like Nick is meant to be a “play boy” for awhile longer – like George Clooney was. I think this is the wrong scene for someone like him to find a wife.
Sounds like you had a wonderful Valentines Day, simple and sweet, which to me is the perfect way to celebrate lovet! Mine was the same – I made dinner at home. My husband and son gave me a huge box of chocolates and at 17 weeks pregnant I was more than happy to receive them!
