It is warmer OUTSIDE than it is INSIDE.
Yet, we spent all the morning working on our pajamas.
“Hey have you finished with that insurance yet? I just ordered the sneeze guards.”
“Yeah, that and I got the copper pipes for cooling the mill flour. By the way, we have a call at 3:30 today about signage.”
This is our life. Decked out in colorful pajamas.
Someday we will trade them for dough-covered aprons.
We worked until 1pm when I was more than ready for lunch. I went upstairs to change out of PJs into workout clothes (I can’t stand to eat more than 1 meal a day in my pajamas!)
But once I had on my workout clothes I realized that going to the gym later this afternoon sounded horrible on such a beautiful day. So I ate two dates and was out the door running in 5 minutes flat.
I stayed close to home, so as not to push my wacked out foot too much and in case I had to stop to walk. Luckily my foot did great and Matt and I covered about 4 miles in just under 40 minutes. Sweet!!
Then it was time for a 1:45 lunch.
Welcome back amazing KERF classic salad!!
The usual:
- Spinach, carrot, pepper plus extra special cherry tomatoes from Pennsylvania (must be from a greenhouse!?)
- Honey + olive oil + lavender salt sprinkles
- The best ever Bleu D’Avergne
- Food Should Taste Good lime on the side
Next door I had a bowl of yogurt (welcome back yogurt!!) topped with pumpkin hummus and toasted walnuts
Pumpkin hummus you say?!?
Emily gave me this Crazy Camel Dessert Hummus she received for a freelance project (she had way too many and had frozen them) and my GOSH IT IS DELICIOUS!! You can barely taste the beans – it’s mostly molasses pumpkin spice deliciousness (hence why I put it on yogurt instead of my salad).
I was actually happy to be drinking a COLD drink at lunch. That should tell you something about our weather today!
Now about that 3:30 signage call…
Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday says
Sometimes it’s nice to hang out in your pjs all morning, but when I do that I almost never get anything done.
Pjs are the anti-productivity.
Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) says
Good luck with your call. You sound like you’re a jack of all trades and super busy!
“You can barely taste the beans – it’s mostly molasses pumpkin spice deliciousness”– Good to know! I have almost made my own dessert hummus many times but always wimp out b/c I dont want to eat beans with my dessert. I just want dessert 🙂 If I can’t find that hummus, it gives me inspiration to make my own.
Enough agave/maple, nut butter, cinnamon, etc can make even beans taste amazing, right? 🙂
Kelly Michelle says
Averie, I was the same but finally tried it and it is good! A good place to start is chickpeas + PB + Maple syrup, they all have an “earthy” taste that melds well together. I’m too lazy to peel but I do steam the chickpeas first and then add almond milk as needed to get it as smooth as possible which is much yummier. It’s not quit dessert but it is sweet and makes a great dip for sweet fruit like apples and bananas.
Stacey says
Do we know where that hummus is available at yet? I guess i should go look it up.
B & B says
I’m guessing it’s not in Canada yet 😉 We are so behind…or actually my city is.
What time do you get up/eat breakfast in the a.m Kath?
Beth @ Beth's Journey to Thin says
Colorful PJ pants AND lunch. GOod luck with your call today! =)
Hannah @ Healthy Life says
Wow that hummus sounds amazing! I also hate to go to the gym when it’s a lovely day outside- seems such a waste!

Sana says
Only one meal in pjs? I would go for all three! Jk!
Lucy @ The Sweet Touch says
I like how you think!
The hummus sounds tasty – I bet you could recreate it when you get your next stash of pumpkin;)
Freya (Brit Chick Runs) says
Oh I can’t stand being in my PJs for ONE meal a day! I always change as soon as I get up 😀
Pumpkin hummus?? Good gosh, ship me some please!!? Wow!
Amelia (Eating Made Easy) says
I love pumpkin hummus, and its so easy to make! p.s. I am totally with you on only eating one meal per day in your pj’s. After that I just feel gross!
Holly @ The Runny Egg says
Pumpkin hummus sounds so goo but what I really love in this post is the bleu cheese. I love love love bleu cheese but it does not love me back 🙁
Jess (Sweet Potato) says

Ellie @ The Mommyist says

Mama Pea says
The weird thing is, I did say “pumpkin hummus?!”
And does it counts as eating two meals in your pjs if you shower and change into new pjs? Because that’s where I am today…
KathEats says
Ha – no, fresh ones don’t count!
Caitlyn (The Spoonful of Life) says
1. Wearing PJ’s until mid afternoon is wonderful and I’m jealous!

Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
Sounds like you two have been productive! I’m the same way in that I can’t eat more than one meal in pjs! Although sually on the weekends I get dressed before breakfast – just a routine I suppose. You’ve got me madly craving hummus now!
Katie @ Nourishing Flourishing says
Looks like Spring 🙂 I was actually experimenting with making pumpkin pie hummus a week or two ago, whilst I was doing a post on some dessert hummus (Brownie Batter, PB) I made. Think I’ll have to post it soon now! Thanks for the reminder 😀
Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg says
I think dessert hummus is the next big thing!! I’m still wanting to try Evan’s cookie dough hummus!
Jackie says
Is it weird I now want to buy my husband polka dot pajama pants? 😀
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
I read pumpkin hummus and DID say “pumpkin hummus?!” Then kept reading… laughing out loud that you had predicted the reaction exactly. Sweet potato hummus is my new obsession, so I can only imagine how much I’d love pumpkin!
Elisabeth says
Your salad looks especially yummy today! Oh, and I’m so jealous of your weather! It’s still only in the 40’s here… (Ohio) 🙁
lynn @ the actor's diet says
i wish my husband would wear colorful pj pants. he wears adidas trackpants to bed, so when he lounges around all day in his “pajamas” he looks like he’s dressed and i look like the sloth
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
I neglected to mention since you guys share (and I think exceed) my beer-love… it is National Beer Day! Apparently FDR signed into law the legalization of beer sales on April 7, 1933, effectively ending Prohibition.
Cheers! 🙂
KathEats says
Oh yeah!?!?! How exciting!
Abby says
I need to find that hummus! I’m a pumpkin freak for sure. lol 🙂
Alexa @ Simple Eats says
That hummus sounds amazing!!! I’ve kind of been in a hummus rut lately and it’s turned me off, but sweet hummus might be just the right thing 🙂

Lea @ Healthy Coconut says
I’ve yet to try dessert or sweet hummus. I’ll need to try it first and decide if it’s worth buying it or just make it myself.
Lindsay says
I want that hummus! And I feel you on the pj issue…they are comfy until a certain point, and then its like “ahhh! I gotta get outta these!” and put on “real” clothes and face the day. Looks like ya’ll are coming along on all your business plans, can’t wait until those aprons come on to stay!
Mary @ Bites and Bliss says
Hanging out decked in colorful PJs is the way to go. If you don’t have anything to do, then live it up in pajamas!!!

Pumpkin hummus– now why don’t they sell that around here? 🙂

My exact thought was “PUMPKIN HUMMUS????” and then scrolled down to the next photo where you started talking about it. hehe Man does that sound gooood!! I worked my butt off til about 1pm as well today! Feels good. Although, after eating lunch I crashed on the couch-bed for a nap! 😉 About to get out in the sunshine though!
J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) says
I work in my PJs every day, lol. It’s awesome. Well, it gets old fast, too. It’s nice to get out of the house. Working from home isn’t always everything it’s cracked up to be. 😆
I’m looking forward to the warmer weather that you speak of. Still pretty chilly here in NY. 🙁
Sof says
Hi Kath,

Your pictures deserve to be in an upscale food magazine.
That salad looks awesome as usual! Bleu cheese is the best! I have never heard of lavender salt sprinkles, but they sound good.

As much as I love wearing my PJs, I never feel motivated to do anything when I’m wearing them! I like your one meal/day in PJs rule!
Jessica says
I did say “pumpkin hummus?!!!”
YUM!
You inspire me to step outside the box with peanut butter, by the way. I love love love pb, but I am an inside the box natural, extra crunchy girl. I was looking at some dark chocolate almond butter the other day and you were sitting on my shoulder saying, “give it a try!” I did. It is delish, especially on a banana!
Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope says
I love pajama days! I seriously know I will get SO much accomplished when I’m comfortable and focused. 🙂
Incredible salad as always, and loving the yogurt bowl!
Sarah (Running To Slow Things Down) says
This makes me think that I’ll have to try making some pumpkin hummus soon. Molasses would be such a lovely addition. 😀
Your salad looks divine, as always! 😀

I love semi lazy days in my pjs!

Pumpkin never goes outta season, at least it doesn’t in my house!! I *love* the stuff (and I know you do, too… I remember that picture you had of all your cans lined up like an army! HA!) Y’all sound like you had quite the productive day!

Khushboo says
pumpkin hummus??? does it contain chickpeas at all! Sounds yummy!
Hannah says
I’ve just started a new job in an office that is ridiculoisly air-conditioned, so I know what you mean here! It’s annoying having to take a winter jacket to work when it’s warm outside!
Michelle Huenecke says
I am pumped by that hummus, can’t wait to try. I usually mix about 1/4 c. plain cannned pumpkin to my plain yogurt (mix couple drops of Stevia extract and walnuts), oatmeal or make a yummy salad dressing with it.
Jil @ Big City, Lil Kitchen says
I’m still in my pj pants…not gonna lie. hahaha Love the combo of Matt’s polka dots and the striped couch.
