Burgers don’t need buns. Bread works, as does a bed of lettuce, a salad base, a tortilla, or a fork and knife.
Lunch today featured a No Bull Burger sandwiched between two slices of Cville Crunch with some cheddar cheese, lettuce, and condiments. Much easier to eat than a fat slider roll! Still required 2 napkins though : )
I served the burger with a few corn chips and a peach. Favorite lunch sides this week!
And a rainbow of my favorite colors to serve.
How is it Thursday already!? Feels like Tuesday!
Krissy @ Shiawase Life says
Definitely feels like a Thursday to me! 😉 Thank goodness! ALMOST Friday!! 😀
Julianna @ Julianna Bananna says
that burger looks delicious!!
emily says
I actually hate burgers on buns. I like buns by themselves but with a burger they’re too bready; I almost always eat my burger with a knife and fork!
You so make me want to try a No Bull Burger. Just the 583,343,959th reason I need to make another visit to Cville!
Michaela says
Totally with you on this- I do not understand how people want buns with their burgers!
Alison says
Whoa, it is Thursday, isn’t it?! 🙂 That looks like such a tasty lunch.
Erin Motz says
Maybe it’s just me but I feel like the peaches have been incredible this year! Every batch I’ve bought has been absolutely delicious and perfectly juicy and ripe. Southern living is pretty sweet in the summertime 😉
Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat says
Today is my Friday because I’m off work tomorrow, yippeeee! I always eat my burgers on bread too. I have small mouth relative to the average person and can never get my mouth around a bun without getting burger fillings and crumbs all over my face!
Ashley @ Coffee Cake and Cardio says
Oh man, your lunch looks awesome!! YUMMY!
Kavi says
I took a page from your book and ate plums with my sandwich today. The stone fruits have been great this summer!
Hope @ With A Side Of Hope says
This week sure did fly by quickly! I’m happy about that though cause I’m getting married next Friday. 🙂
Your sandwich sure looks yummy! I agree. Burgers don’t need buns.

Bread or a bun..I do like a burger with something to sandwich it in!

mary @ minutespermile says

You’re lucky it feels like a Tuesday! Every day feels like it should be Friday to me…
Melissa @ HerGreenLife says
Half an English muffin (for an open-faced sandwich) is my favorite veggie burger substrate, but I also enjoy burgers on our homemade bread.
Elisabeth says
If I make turkey burgers (turkey pizza burgers with ground 93% turkey, tomato sauce & italian seasoning) I don’t like a bun. However, if it’s a veggie burger or a beef burger I have to have a bun 😉
Kelly says
Your lunch looks amazing!!! What kind of bread is that?
KathEats says
Cville Crunch from Great Harvest
j3nn says
Agreed. I’ll make a sandwich out of just about anything!
Kristi says
I usually eat bean burgers bunless with guacamole and salsa or on a salad like today. But nothing beats my MIL’s beef burgers with cheese and ketchup on a bun!
Ali @ Peaches and Football says
It had better not be Tuesday over here – I’m counting down the SECONDS until a break from this week of work. Craaaaazy!
Karen A. says
I’ve been known to replace a bun with toast a few times, still tastes just as great 🙂
Madison says
Yum! When I lived in Raleigh, I loved the Great Harvest there and miss it so much. The Dakota bread–yum–good with everything! BTW: those peaches look beautiful and so juicy. Makes me crave one!
Jeanette says
Kath, could you give me an idea for some high-protein lower-carb granola? I looked through your recipage and really like the maple pecan recipe (I pinned it!) and wondered if that one would fit the bill? Is there anything I could add or take away to make it more high -protein /lower -carb? Thanks 🙂
KathEats says
I wouldn’t consider granola a high protein food unless you’re going to have additives like protein powders (which I don’t think are the purest of foods) – maybe just pair it with yogurt!? Or you could reduce the proportion of oats and add more nuts/chia seeds/seeds and things.
Jeanette says
Lol, I know I’m asking how to make granola onto the complete opposite of what it is 🙂 Thank you for your help, I think I’ll take your recipe and see what I can come up with.
KathEats says
🙂 I’d just change the ratios and add more nuts/seeds
Tamzin says
Hi there is that a metal straw? Where did you get it from and can it go in a dishwasher?
KathEats says
It’s from Amazon (I just searched for metal straws) and yes, dishwasher safe!
Dennis Blair @ Fort Collins Personal Trainer says

Megan @ Megan's Munchies says
Agreed! Hot dogs don’t need buns either! I wrap them in tortillas all the time 🙂
Christine @ Oatmeal in my Bowl says
Looks mighty delicious!

I didn’t get my daily peach today….all out. Your pictures are making me very jealous! 😉
Jessica @ New Girl, New City says
Psh… burger buns are overrated. And corn chips and a peach sound amazing! A little sweet, a little salty…
Mary says
It feels like Tuesday to me too! I haven’t even been that busy at work this week, I have no idea how it went so fast.
Heather says
Just ordered some No Bull Burgers. The girl at their office who took my order could not have been nicer.
Can not wait for them to make their journey to Florida and eat one next week!
thanks Kath!
KathEats says
Oh great!! They are all awesome there : )
Christina@ The Beautiful Balance says
I MUST try no bull burgers! Of course, the bread looks amazing.
Deb says
Can you please explain your homemade pink lemonade? I’ve looked through older posts and was just curious as to how you make it. I’m trying to get in more water and would love ideas!
KathEats says
Yep, it’s just store-bought lemonade (Santa Cruz Raspberry Organic) mixed with water – about 1-2 oz lemonade and the rest all water
Lexi @ You, Me, & A World to See says
I actually prefer my burgers on bread or a salad! Buns are overrated 😉
Angel7 says

Kath, you are an inspiration to all of us healthy eaters! This looks delicious. And you’re right… who says bread is a requirement for a burger?! 🙂
