Today has been quite productive, out of the ordinary and fun!
I woke up at 7:15 with just enough time to get dressed, check email and pack a breakfast before I walked to the coffee shop to meet Victoria to study. It was such a gorgeous morning and walk!
I debated eating cereal or oatmeal (what I really wanted) but I knew I’d have to wolf it down and hate not being able to enjoy a meal! So I decided on a GH Cinnamon Raisin Bun with Almond Butter! Hidden in between were 3 walnut halves and a drizzle of honey as well. I toasted the bun, so the AB kind of melted on my way there 🙁
I also got a Cafe au Lait with Snickerdoodle coffee and soy milk.
I also packed a banana, which I saved for a late morning snack and ate around noon.
Totally not your typical KERF breakfast, huh! I really enjoyed the change of scenery though. And the bun held me over surprisingly well. But it was NOT as fun to eat as oatmeal.
Victoria and I were extremely productive in the morning hours and spent 3 of them going through our notes. I feel a lot better about this test, but I’ve still got a long ways to go.
As I said above, I ate my banana at noon and walked back home, dropped my bags, and went out for a run. I was expecting rain today since we’ve had rain for the past 4 days and was thrilled with blue skies (although there’s a strong wind out there). My 5.5 mile run was great. I was music and partnerless and I got lots of thinking done.
I came home to find Matt and his college fraternity buddy Waikart drinking on the patio!! There seems to be a heavy emphasis on beer this spring
Although I cannot lie – I had a few post-run sips of Maple Squirr-ale!
For lunch I ate a big salad
Leftover romaine, craisins + walnuts from last night plus sauteed broc, peppers, mushrooms, plus cottage cheese, sprouts, avocado and blueberries.
And a bunch of Food Should Taste Good multigrain chips. Loved them! They were like those flax corn chips I used to get a lot.
I am off to SHOWER and then study for the rest of the day.

I was just thinking, “Jeez, is Kath alive today?” and then up comes your post title, “I’m Alive!”. I feel you on the weather! It’s finally nice in the mountains today, too, but there is a CHILLY wind blowing! Have a great day.

Hey girlie! your breakfast looks delish! glad to hear you had a decent study session. ugggh, which reminds me- i need to study one of these days. haha. we have also had a a couple gloomy days lately. this morning it snowed, but now its almost 60 and sunny out. only in illinois. that salad looks delicious as well!
hope you had a great weekend!
Moran says
Wow Kath, I cannot recall the last time your breakfast did not feature a gorgeous BOWL! I so appreciate your love for all things oatmeal – you really got me HOOKED!
Enjoy the sunny day!
Sarah (Tales of Expansion) says
beautiful and productive day you’re having! you’re so good at taking advantage of delicious weather.
Erin says
That’s great you got so much done in the morning, and then topped it with a run. I was debating running today because of the rain & wind but it cleared up and was blue skies. If I had homemade beer around me all the time I would be carrying a spare tire by now!

The make-your-own-pizzas last night pushed me over the edge. I’ve got dough rising as we speak. Now I think I want to put avocado on it. What an inspiration your choices have been!
Nate says
About damn time! We were worried sick about you…don’t scare us like that again.
Matt does seem to be drinking a lot of beer this spring. I thought I was a bad influence on him, but he seems to be able to drink without me, too. Then again, it’s sort of research for Brew and Bake, right?
Sharon says
Oh wow, super delicious!

Cinnamon Raisin Bun with Almond Butter = holy yum.
Sooo envious of your springy weather!! It’s dark, dreary, and rainy here 🙁
Beadie @ What I Ate Yesterday says

Snickerdoodle coffee?? You have the BEST flavors 😉 Cinn. Raisin bun looks DELISH!
have a great Sunday 😉
Lee says
Have you tried the food should taste good buffalo chips? they weren’t very buffalo-y.
i always think snickerdoodle (well, at least for cookies) means it has snickers in it.
Lori says
Those multigrain chips are awesome, aren’t they? We just bought some yesterday at the store!
Sarah (lovINmytummy) says
It seems like a fun day…breakfast and coffee out, beer drinking on the patio. If only you didn’t have to study!
Jess says
I’m surprised by the sad face for the melted AB. I put my nut butters on hot bread specifically to melt them!
Heather says
Definitely not a Kath-like breakfast, but it’s fun to switch things up sometime! 🙂
That snickerdoodle coffee sounds so good right now. I have a local coffee shop that has sugar-free snickerdoodle flavor shots that I add to my latte every time I go there… SOOO delicious!
Nice run! I bet that felt good after studying morning!
Kerri says
I love the blueberry topper on the salad! Enjoy the sun.
Michelle Hisae says
Sounds like you’ve had a great day! You say 5.5 miles with such ease, haha. How long does it usually take you to run that? I’d love to hear your stats. I’m training for a half marathon, so my running will be kicked up a notch for the next 2 months.
sue says
you’re so good with your studying! now that i see how much other people study, i know why my grades sucked in school 🙁 i so need to find snickerdoodle coffee!
Adi (oatonomy.com - repaired!) says
Out of the ordinary brekkies can be the perfect way to re-ignite the oatmeal loving! 🙂 Too bad for the melty almond butter though.
Good luck with the rest of the studying!
Mara @ What's For Dinner? says
I’m so beyond envious of your weather!!! We got 3″ of SNOW today!

Snickerdoodle coffee sounds really tasty! I hope I stumble across it sometime.
Kath says
Nate,
He is a bad influence on himself…
Michelle Hisae,
I don’t really know how long it took me, but I will try to track stats on my next run. I probably ran about a 9:30 pace. I’m not fast! Endurance has always been easier for me than speed.
Kath
Erin says
I like that bowl!
Caroline says
Just curious: what brand of cottage cheese do you buy? It always looks so fluffy and delicious!
Kath says
Caroline,
We usually buy Cabot Nonfat at TJ’s but this was Breakstone’s 2% (my favorite), which was on sale.
