What do you think?! I feel much more stylish 8) I went to Michelle’s aunt (who came highly recommended by Michelle) and am totally happy. I was nervous at first, but she did an awesome job! Let’s hope my styling skills are as good as hers 😉
And check out this tiny bell pepper growing in our garden!!
We were supposed to have a London broil steak for dinner tonight (something new for me!), but it didn’t thaw out in time, so we had to go to a back-up plan: Salmon Burgers. This required a quick bike to HT for buns and cheese. I don’t understand why all of the buns in the whole store have HFCS or a list of ingredients a mile long, but I came home with my best option:
Salmon patty (from Trader Joe’s) with melted extra sharp cheddar (from a block form) plus some pickle slices and cilantro pesto –
Grilled peppers with a little Smart Balance
Grilled corn on the cob –
And yummy grilled zucchini
We watched the Men’s Gymnastic’s Final tonight – it was nerve wracking!
And for a little fun – some photos of us from freshman year at Davidson that the husband scanned tonight!
Me doing the “Old Man Frog Dance”
Me and the hub on Self Selection Night (don’t ask!). And I don’t think the question is: “What was I thinking?!” I think it should be “What was I drinking!?” Blech!
And the year he went as a trashcan for Halloween!

I love your hair! So fresh- the old pics are just priceless LOL

Your hair looks great! I just got my hair cut today too but it is very difficult for me because I have very curly hair so I get so nervous before I go..
Those pics are hysterical.. I just found pics of myself from college where i gained like the freshman 30 and I could not even tell it was me… it was hard for me to even look at the pictures… but also makes me glad I came into a healthy lifestyle!
Alyssa says
Very cute haircut!!! Short, but not too short, and stylish.

Gorgeous hair Kath!!
Justy2003 says
Love the new cut-the layers give it a little more “shape” it looks like! I love when I get my hair cut…it just looks/feels so fresh and new! And my curls tend to curl a little better, too! Too bad I’m not due for another one anytime soon… :/
Jen says
Love the college pics! Your grilled veggies look absolutely delish…I love grilled peppers and corn. Hope it was as tasty as it looks!
sirenjess says
Try Rudi’s organic hamburger buns they don’t have HFCS.
Rachel says
Your hair is CUTE!! And the old pics are hilarious.
HangryPants says
I love your new hair cut and all your grilled vegetables.

Nice haircut. You’re afraid to go shorter? It would suite you, I think. College, university… Far from me. In Europe… 🙂
caitlinbo (see bride run) says

Rose says
The new haircut looks great! That picture, in general, is really nice – the greenery in the background is so pretty!
Hahaha to the trashcan! I almost fell off the chair.
Jenny says
I like your hair a lot. It looks really good. I got mine cut last week. I hadn’t had it cut since March of 2007. I went in and told the stylist that I wanted Miranda, Season 6 Sex and the City – took a picture and everything. What I got was Flo, the diner waitress from the old show TV show, Alice. I got in the car, took one look and went completely hysterical. I didn’t say anything to the stylist, I just paid and left. I knew I had to keep it together because otherwise I was going to look insane. I cried all the way home, tugging and pulling at my hair as if to somehow magically make it grow back. It didn’t help that when I walked in the door, my boyfriend took one look at me and burst out laughing. He still apologizes about that, but I couldn’t blame him. I know I looked absurd with my teased hair pulled in ninety directions, tears and mascara streaming down my face, sobbing about what had happened. Needless to say, the whole experience made me a little gun-shy about getting my hair cut. I had to though because I had major split ends. I’m okay now, but it was traumatic. Relatively speaking, of course.
fitnessista says

A.Cook says
Kath you look so pretty! And I am jealous…I wish I could grow peppers but ours were a bust this year 🙁
nat says
hey kath,
i’m wondering if you still have a little morning snack for energy before you work out everyday, before the bowl of oats?
just curious….
and your hair looks great 😉
claire says
Cute hair…I SO need a haircut. I’m at the point that the only way I think it looks good is in a low ponytail but I’m so close to donating length that I might keep growing it.
A hint for thawing things quickly that my mom just told me about…place it on an aluminum pan (they use their griddle pan). It works wonders!
Saima says
just wondering….wasn’t the Men’s gymnastics final yday?!!….today was the women’s final!! hmmm!!
Michelle says
Hey Kath, You may have already answered this earlier in the blog, but do you usually eat everything that you dish up for meals? And your hair looks great! You look so young and energized!!
Blondie says
Love the hair!
Hubby and I had fun looking at your pictures- was your hubs an SAE? If so, mine says Phi Alpha. 🙂
sarah says

C says
The haircut is awesome!! Love it!
Have you tried the Ezekial buns? We bought those this weekend for the same reason you mentioned. I haven’t tried them yet but I have read that they are pretty good.
working says
Your hair is cute – love the layers!
cindy says
Hi Kath-
Like the haircut.
What is your take on the Kashi U cereal? Our Wegmans just got it in and I may try this week, but want to hear your comments first. Thanks

Katie says
Your hair looks so great! I really like it! And YUMMMMY dinner!
Tina says
Love those old school photos! Looks like Self Selection night was a little like my “Eat, Drink, or Wear” night!
Rachel says
Kath, on your recommended reading list you have “SuperFoods HealthStyle”. Is it “SuperFoods HealthStyle: Proven Strategies for Lifelong Health” or ” SuperFoods HealthStyle: Simple Changes to Get the Most Out of Life for the Rest of Your Life ?” (or both?)
I read SuperFoods Rx and loved it.
Hot Garlic says
Kath, I love your haircut! You look stunning, honestly!
The only thing that I love more than haircuts is gardening {your pepper is adorable!} And the only thing I love more than gardening is Trader Joes…
Love it, that food looks delish!
ModelBehavior says
Very cute Kath!
one food guy says
Would you recommend the TJ’s salmon burgers? They certainly look good covered in melty cheese!
I agree with you about the buns, too. It seems all breads these days, with the exception of the whole grain and organic breads, contain fortified flours, hfcs, and lots of other junk. I always buy whole grain breads, usually organic, and never ever anything with fortified flours!
Anne P says
hotness! love the new hair cut 🙂 and, freshman year pics are HILARIOUS! those were the days 😉
Anne P says
p.s. i always have that problem buying hamburger buns!! why must they put crappy ingredients in everything??
emily says
i second rudy’s ww hamburger buns. They are in the organic frozen section at my grocery store. They are a bit small, but that is good for me.
Pumpkin says
I try to watch out for HFCS, too, and I have also found that it is next to impossible to find hamburger buns without it. One day I literally read the label on EVERY brand of buns at the store and the only one I found without HFCS was Martin’s Potato Bread. They sell regular and whole wheat bread, hamburger buns and hotdog buns, and they’re really very good.
I don’t know if they sell it in your area, but it’s worth a look.
Melissa (the other one) says
I just got mine cut too!!! EEKS 🙂 I just did my post and looked at yours, and we both posted about our haircuts 🙂 FUNNY!
I’m very much still getting used to mine!
Grounded Fitness says
the haircut looks good!

Andrea says
LOVE LOVE LOVEEEEEEEEE the new haircut! i swear, you totally look 5 years younger!!! (even though you already look soooo young and healthy 😉
Lindsey Beth says
How were the TJ salmon burgers? I’ve tried the ones at Harris Teeter and was not impressed. Also, please settle an argument for me. My husband insists that corn is a vegetable, but I always count it as a starch. Which is it?
Adorable ‘do, btw:)
BethT says
Corn is a vegetable, just a starchy one. It “double counts” so to speak.
Teddy says
I like the new hair. Red is definitely a good color on you as well! 🙂
Also, I love that you’re as into the Olympics as me. I don’t know why but this year’s have been GREAT.
Grilled veggies are probably my favorite way to eat veggies in the summer
Kath says
Thanks for the hair compliments guys 🙂 It doesn’t look as good this morning after a shower and blow-dry but it’s not bad either.
sirenjess + C,
I love both of those buns but HT doesn’t have them and we didn’t want to drive anywhere 🙁
caitlinbo ,
Yesssss – I believe it was pudding!
Poor you Jenny!
nat ,
Only if I’m really hungry. I learned this summer 1) That most of the time I’m just thirsty and a few gulps of water tides me well until breakfast and 2) That workouts less than 90 minutes don’t need any kind of snack so if you don’t need it for physical reasons, just skip it.
Saima ,
We’re on the DVR schedule 🙂
Michelle ,
I eat everything unless otherwise noted, yes.
Blondie ,
Yes!! SAE 🙂
cindy ,
I haven’t tried it yet!
Rachel ,
Either would work! “Proven Strategies” is the one I read, but it sounds like the other is newer.
one food guy,
Yes, I’d recommend them. They seem to just be a slab of fish (no veggies or mix-ins).
Andrea ,
nooooo! I was told a few weeks ago I looked sixteen!! Does that mean I look 11 now!?
Kath
JJ125 says
Haha, great college pics! I don’t think I could ever post any of my pictures from my college years… I might want to run for president someday 😛
Andrea says
hehe nonoo that’s not what i meant 😉 you look ‘tres chic’!
